NCT00549718
Lurasidone HCl is a compound being developed for the treatment of schizophrenia. This clinical study is designed to test the hypothesis that lurasidone is more efficacious than placebo. The study will also evaluate the safety and tolerability of lurasidone as compared to placebo.
NCT00291200
This study will gather information on the natural history of the basic symptoms of psychosis to identify factors that may affect the improvement or persistence of the symptoms.
NCT00524043
The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of 1.5 mg/day dose of paliperidone Extended Release (ER) as compared with placebo when used to treat patients with schizophrenia.
NCT00761579
The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety and efficacy of flexibly dosed paliperidone extended-release (ER) in participants with schizophrenia (psychiatric disorder with symptoms of emotional instability, detachment from reality, often with delusions and hallucinations, and withdrawal into the self).
NCT00634361
This is an open-label trial of an omega-3 fatty acid for symptoms of the schizophrenia prodrome.
NCT00821600
The purpose of this study is to explore the pharmacokinetics, safety and tolerability of a 4-week long-acting injectable (LAI) formulation of risperidone after single intramuscular (i.m.) injection of 75 mg risperidone LAI in the gluteal muscle.
NCT02137993
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of A-prexa compared to Zyprexa in patients with schizophrenia, schizophreniform disorder and schizoaffective disorder.
NCT00535132
The purpose of this study is to evaluate medication satisfaction after at least 4 weeks of paliperidone ER (extended-release), an antipsychotic, treatment in patients with schizophrenia who were previously taking either 4 or 6 mg of risperidone daily by mouth, but who are not satisfied with their treatment.
NCT02127879
The main purpose of this study is to determine whether intensive repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (I-rTMS) is effective in the treatment of negative symptoms in schizophrenia patients and whether it has a positive influence on their cognitive functions, social functions, quality of life, alpha frequency and cortical silent period changes. Also, this study should provide data about safety and tolerability this I-rTMS treatment in schizophrenia patients.
NCT01662648
The purpose of this study is to explore the efficacy of flexibly dosed paliperidone extended-release (ER) in participants with schizophrenia (psychiatric disorder with symptoms of emotional instability, detachment from reality, often with delusions and hallucinations, and withdrawal into the self) who were previously unsuccessfully treated with other oral antipsychotics.
NCT01312272
Individuals with schizophrenia have been found to have deficits in social cognition, which is defined as the functions that are engaged during social interactions. Social cognition has been found to be critical in predicting multiple aspects of community functioning. There are no currently available medications that have been consistently found to improve social cognition in individuals with schizophrenia. Oxytocin functions as a neurotransmitter that is thought to be involved in multiple aspects of social behavior and related emotions. In this study, we test the hypothesis that acute administration of intranasal oxytocin will improve social cognition in individuals with schizophrenia.
NCT00697658
The purpose of this study is to explore efficacy, tolerability and safety of paliperidone Extended Release (ER) in 250 schizophrenia patients who started treatment with paliperidone ER in a naturalistic setting.
NCT00968851
This study is being conducted to determine the safety and effect on cognitive function of two different doses of an investigational medication, EVP-6124, in individuals with schizophrenia who are on chronic stable atypical anti-psychotic therapy. In addition, behavioral and psychotic symptoms will be evaluated.
NCT01729572
Schizophrenia is a chronic debilitating mental disorder, characterised by a relapsing remitting course. Although anti-psychotics can prevent relapse, its effect on schizophrenia outcome remains very limited, mainly due to very poor adherence to medications by the patients. This study aims to find, whether the add-on of remote monitoring of medication compliance via tele-medicine, to routine out-patient clinic care, can improve patients adherence and reduce the risk of relapse.
NCT01052389
The GiSAS study is a multi-centre randomized clinical trial that will involve about 80 italian community psychiatric services in Italy and will recruit 800 patients affected by schizophrenia. In a sample of schizophrenic outpatients, it is hypothesized that there are significant differences in the overall tolerability and effectiveness of aripiprazole, olanzapine and haloperidol at 12 months. It is a pragmatic trial. Thus, participants are selected to represent a broad range of "real-world" patients, all treatment medications are non-blinded and after randomization, the assigned drugs will be prescribed according to usual care practice. The measure for effectiveness is retention of patients on the assigned treatment. The measure for tolerability is the onset of metabolic syndrome.
NCT01101659
The objective of this study is to investigate whether JNJ-40411813 versus placebo reduces psychosis-like symptoms, induced by infusion of a low dose of ketamine. Effects of JNJ-40411813 on ketamine-induced symptoms will be evaluated about 3 hours after a single oral dose when the concentration of JNJ-40411813 in the blood is at its maximum and up to 24 hours after dose administration to assess the duration of a potential JNJ-40411813 effect.
NCT00294008
This study is a non-interventional web based registry designed to assess demographic, treatment and outcomes data in patients receiving treatment with long-acting injectable risperidone. One year retrospective data and 2 year prospective data will be collected.
NCT00784238
The purpose of this study is to evaluate improvement and efficacy of paliperidone extended-release for subjective well-being and drug attitudes of participants, when switching from oral antipsychotics in participants with schizophrenia (psychiatric disorder with symptoms of emotional instability, detachment from reality, often with delusions and hallucinations, and withdrawal into the self).
NCT00563706
The primary purpose of this protocol is to establish the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of vabicaserin (SCA-136) using a once a day capsule in subjects with acute exacerbations of schizophrenia.
NCT01812642
The purpose of this study is to evaluate safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics (explores what the body does to the drug) of JNJ-37822681 in participants with stable schizophrenia (psychiatric disorder with symptoms of emotional instability, detachment from reality, often with delusions and hallucinations, and withdrawal into the self).
