NCT00665535
The purpose of the study is to determine the optimal frequency of repositioning nursing facility residents with limited mobility who are cared for on a high density foam mattress in order to prevent bed sores. It is hypothesized that participants at moderate risk (Braden Scale Scores 13-14) who are turned every 3 or 4 hours and participants at high risk (Braden Scores 10-12) turned every 3 or 4 hours will not have a higher incidence of ulcers than those residents turned every 2 hours.
NCT00692640
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of XL147 in combination with erlotinib (Tarceva®) in subjects with solid tumors. XL147 is a new chemical entity that inhibits PI3 Kinase. Inactivation of PI3K has been shown to inhibit growth and induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) in tumor cells. Erlotinib is an orally administered inhibitor of EGFR (also known as HER1) tyrosine kinase. It was approved by the FDA as a single agent for the treatment of patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) after failure of at least one prior chemotherapy regimen and in combination with gemcitabine for first line treatment of patients with locally advanced, unresectable or metastatic pancreatic cancer.
NCT00706862
The purpose of the study is to determine whether the combination of talactoferrin, carboplatin and paclitaxel improves progression free survival and overall survival in patients with non-small cell lung cancer compared to the combination of paclitaxel and carboplatin alone
NCT00215735
Autologous platelet concentrate will enhance the rate of healing of chronic diabetic wounds
NCT00036153
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of the combination of tacrolimus + methotrexate compared to methotrexate alone in the treatment of the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis over 6 months in patients with partial response to methotrexate.
NCT00391872
Ticagrelor is a new, reversible binding, anti-platelet medication. Anti-platelet medications work to prevent the formation of blood clots. Ticagrelor is being developed as a treatment for patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). ACS is a term that is used to describe both heart attacks in progress or the imminent threat of a heart attack. ACS is usually caused by the formation of a blood clot in an artery that partially or totally blocks the blood supply to a portion of the heart muscle. Ticagrelor will be compared with clopidogrel to determine which drug, when either is used in conjunction with aspirin, is better at reducing deaths from vascular causes, future heart attacks and/or strokes in patients with ACS.
NCT01359579
The purpose of this study is to compare and evaluate the pharmacokinetic characteristics and the safety of varespladib methyl in mild or moderate renal impairment patients and healthy volunteers.
NCT00501462
This is an open-label study that will measure blood levels of different parts of a drug called GKS189075. People participating in this study will receive a single dose of 250mg GSK189075 by mouth. About 20 people with mild to moderate decrease in renal (kidney) function will be asked to participate in this study. They will be compared to about 20 healthy participants who are close to the same age and body size. People participating in this study will stay at a clinical research unit beginning 2 days before they receive their single dose of GSK189075 and will remain there until approximately one day after receiving the study drug. During this study urine will be collected beginning the day before receiving study drug until the day after, just prior to leaving the clinical research unit. Blood samples will also be collected at various times beginning immediately before until 24 hours after receiving the study drug.
NCT00657137
This study will compare the anti-tumor efficacy of apricoxib and lapatinib/capecitabine with placebo and lapatinib/capecitabine as measured by time to disease progression and evaluate urinary PGE-M measurements or baseline COX-2 expression in tumor tissue by IHC as a surrogate selection criterion for patients who will benefit from future treatment with apricoxib.
NCT00270894
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness and tolerability of the combination of the following medications given every two weeks in HER2 positive breast cancer patients: * trastuzumab (Herceptin) * epirubicin (Ellence) * cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan) * docetaxel (Taxotere)
NCT00854633
This study will evaluate the safety, toxicity and efficacy of talactoferrin in reducing the incidence of all nosocomial infections in prematurely-born infants.
NCT00440947
This study was designed to test the efficacy, safety, tolerability and durability of the antiviral response between atazanavir (ATV) + ritonavir (/r) + abacavir/lamivudine(ABC/3TC) Fixed dose combination (FDC) each administered once daily (QD) for 36 weeks followed by randomization to either a simplification regimen of ATV or continuation of ATV +/r for an additional 48 weeks, each in combination with ABC/3TC in antiretroviral (ART)-naive, HIV-1 infected, HLA-B\*5701 negative subjects. All subjects who complete the 84-week study will be eligible to enter the treatment extension phase and continue for an additional 60 weeks. The purpose of this extension is to obtain longer term treatment data in subjects who have completed the 84-week study.
NCT00211276
The goal of this clinical research study is to find out if the study drug, ONTAK (denileukin diftitox), can shrink or slow the growth of B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) in patients whose disease has not responded to prior treatments, or has relapsed after an initial response to prior treatments. The safety of treatment with ONTAK will also be studied. The hypothesis is that patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell NHL and mild to moderate myelosuppression treated with ONTAK at a new dosing regimen will respond sufficiently to warrant further study.
NCT00384033
The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of two doses of DVS SR (50 and 100 mg/day) in the treatment of adults with Major Depressive Disorder.
NCT00712816
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a device that delivers cold and intermittent compression as compared to ice and compressive wraps on patients who have undergone knee replacement.
NCT01170286
The purpose of this phase 1b study is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of repeated epicutaneous applications of peanut proteins using a patch delivery system (Viaskin device) in peanut allergic subjects.
NCT00516659
This is a multicenter, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled field trial to evaluate the epidemiology of natural infection with ETEC occurring after transcutaneous immunization in a field setting.
NCT00054223
RATIONALE: Studying individuals who are enrolled in phase I clinical trials may help to improve the way in which clinical trials are conducted. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying patients' personality traits, reasons for participating in the trial, and understanding of their medical situation, prognosis, and risks and benefits of participating in a phase I trial.
