NCT00048425
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of a 24-hour infusion of levosimendan compared with placebo in the treatment of decompensated chronic heart failure.
NCT00050830
The purpose of study to determine the activity of CI 1033 against tumors in patients with advanced or metastatic NSCLC who have failed prior platinum-based combination chemotherapy. Another objective is to determine the safety of CI 1033.
NCT00048464
Patients will have immune cells collected and then expanded outside of the body. Patients will undergo standard treatment with high dose chemotherapy followed by peripheral blood stem cell transplantation. Three days following the transplant, patients will receive an infusion of a large number of expanded immune cells. The goal of the study will be to determine the safety as well as potential efficacy of this treatment.
NCT00209482
This study will determine if the drug metformin, coupled with diet and exercise counseling, will help obese adolescents lose weight.
NCT00383305
This is a research study of head cooling. Its goal is to determine whether cooling babies' heads can reduce or prevent brain damage that may have resulted from temporarily reduced oxygen supply to the brain. In this study, half of the babies (selected at random) will have a special cooling cap with circulating water placed on their head for 72 hours to lower the temperature of their brain. The rest of the baby's body will be maintained at a defined temperature by a standard overhead radiant heater. The study protocol includes the taking and analysis of blood samples, performance of brain wave tests, imaging of the brain by ultrasound, and other tests as clinically indicated. Neurodevelopmental outcome will also be assessed at 18 months of age.
NCT00039793
The purpose of this study is to develop methods for studying the effect of bodywork therapy on symptoms of fatigue in patients undergoing cancer chemotherapy.
NCT00065104
This study's purpose is to learn how dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) affects the HIV virus, the immune system, hormone levels, body composition and quality of life.
NCT00055523
Purpose of the study is to test whether adalimumab can induce clinical remission in subjects with active Crohn's disease when compared to placebo (an inactive substance)
NCT00285792
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of increasing the amount of time spent in recess (outside playtime) on overall daily physical activity in Hispanic preschool age children attending full-day and half-day preschool programs. We hypothesize that increasing recess (outside playtime) by 60 minutes in participants attending full-day and 30 minutes in participants attending half-day of preschool will increase average daily physical activity during the intervention days. We also hypothesize that children will not compensate for the increased recess (outside playtime) by decreasing physical activity outside of school during the intervention days.
NCT00056511
The purpose of this study is to determine whether fresh garlic can positively affect cholesterol in adults with moderately high cholesterol levels. This study will also determine whether the same effects can be found for two main types of garlic supplements: a dried powdered garlic (designed to yield the same effect as fresh garlic) and an aged garlic extract preparation.
NCT00421031
The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of 4 doses of desvenlafaxine-233 sustained release (DVS-233 SR) as compared to placebo for the treatment of moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause, as well as its influence on sleep parameters and other health outcomes indicators.
NCT00141414
To evaluate the long-term safety of pregabalin in refractory partial epilepsy.
NCT00266682
People who have a slow heart beat, or whose heart does not beat on its own, may be in need of an electronic device called a pacemaker. A pacemaker is implanted surgically just under the skin in the upper chest area. This device helps the heart beat at a regular rhythm by sending electrical signals (pacing) directly to the heart tissue through flexible wires called leads. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that the SelectSecure (Model 3830) lead is safe and effective for both sensing the heart's natural rhythm and pacing the heart when it does not beat on its own. This lead will be studied in both the right atrium and right ventricle. A previously market approved Medtronic lead model will serve as a comparison to prove the safety and effectiveness of the SelectSecure Model.
NCT00066898
To assess the safety and efficacy of AGI-1067, as compared to placebo, in the treatment of vascular inflammation and atherosclerosis by assessing the reduction in cardiovascular events.
NCT00069849
The purpose of this study is to compare the safety and efficacy of 2 mg, 4 mg, and 20 mg of ABT-089 BID to placebo in adults with Alzheimer's disease.
NCT00278967
To compare the safety and efficacy of 2 different bowel cleansing preparations prior to colonoscopy in adult subjects.
NCT00381056
A cluster-randomized controlled trial was conducted at 7 intervention and 8 control hospitals to evaluate the effect of teamwork training on the occurrence of adverse outcomes and processes of care in labor and delivery.
NCT00100243
This is a Phase 2, open-label study in subjects with androgen-independent prostate cancer who have progressed following treatment with an LHRH agonist. Up to 22 subjects will be enrolled. Enrollment will be monitored to ensure that not all subjects are enrolled based on rising prostate specific antigen (PSA) criterion only. Subjects will be treated with abarelix (Plenaxis) 100 mg intramuscularly (IM) every 2 weeks for 12 weeks (total dose of 600 mg).
NCT00080197
The purpose of this study is to determine if E7070 is an efficacious, safe, and tolerable treatment for patients with metastatic breast cancer who have failed, or could not tolerate, prior treatments with an anthracycline, a taxane, and capecitabine.
NCT00062907
The purpose of this trial is to examine the safety and immunogenicity of a therapeutic vaccine regimen with recombinant DNA and adenovirus expressing L523S protein in patients with early stage non-small cell lung cancer. The vaccine regimen will consist of two fixed doses of recombinant DNA (pVAX/L523S) followed by two doses of recombinant adenovirus (Ad/L523S). The trial will evaluate the dose escalation of Ad/L523S through three cohorts of patients.
