NCT01287585
This is a study of ADI-PEG 20 (pegylated arginine deiminase), an arginine degrading enzyme versus placebo in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma who have failed prior systemic treatment (chemotherapy). Hepatocellular carcinomas have been found to require arginine, an amino acid. Thus the hypothesis is that by restricting arginine with ADI-PEG 20, the hepatocellular carcinoma cells will starve and die.
NCT02421887
The objective of the Males, Antioxidants, and Infertility (MOXI) Trial is to examine whether treatment of infertile males with an antioxidant formulation improves male fertility. The central hypothesis is that treatment of infertile males with antioxidants will improve sperm structure and function, resulting in higher fertilization rates and improved embryo development, leading to higher pregnancy and live birth rates. Findings from this research will be significant in that they will likely lead to an effective, non-hormonal treatment modality for male infertility. An effective treatment for men would also reduce the treatment burden on the female partner, lower costs, and provide effective alternatives to couples with religious or ethical contraindications to ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology). If antioxidants do not improve pregnancy rates, but do improve sperm motility and DNA integrity, they could allow for couples with male factor infertility to use less intensive therapies such as intrauterine insemination. Male fertility specialists currently prescribe antioxidants based on the limited data supporting their use. A negative finding, lack of any benefit, would also alter current treatment of infertile males.
NCT01787994
This is an open label, dual cohort study evaluating safety, tolerability and immunogenicity of redirected CD4+ T cells in HIV subjects.
NCT03544320
In this study, adults with pre-diabetes will be prospectively enrolled for data collection to design prediction models that integrate electronic health record data and patient-generated activity data. Patients will be randomized to receive either a waist-worn or wrist-worn wearable device for 6 months to capture patient-generated activity data.
NCT01686438
Insomnia is commonly present in Veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Treatment of insomnia with a specialized type of psychotherapy has been shown to be more effective than treatment with medications. Unfortunately, few psychologists are trained to provide this treatment, limiting Veterans' access to care, especially those Veterans in remote and rural areas. This project will evaluate the ability to deliver this psychotherapy to groups of Veterans by video teleconferencing. Groups of Veterans with PTSD and chronic insomnia will receive the psychotherapy treatment either by meeting in-person with the psychologist or by the psychologist delivering the treatment by video teleconferencing. Finding that video teleconferencing is a cost effective way to deliver this treatment could add an important new component to the care of Veterans with PTSD that provides an alternative to medications.
NCT02082522
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a combination of a drug, porfimer sodium (Photofrin), which is activated by a light from a laser that emits no heat. This technique works to allow the medical doctor to specifically target and destroy abnormal or cancer cells while limiting damage to surrounding healthy tissue. The activation of the drug is done by lighting the abnormal areas using a fiber optic device (very fine fiber like a fishing line that permits light transmission) inserted into a flexible tube with a light called cholangioscope for the bile duct. The light will activate the porfimer sodium concentrated in the abnormal tissue, leading to its destruction. This research study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of PDT with porfimer sodium administered with Standard Medical Care (SMC) compared to SMC alone on the overall survival time of patients with non-operable advanced cholangiocarcinoma, a rare cancer of the bile ducts. It will involve 200 patients across North America and Europe. Other countries may participate if needed. Participation will last at least 18 months.
NCT02198092
This is an observational, case-control study evaluating the quantitative level of Septin9 in plasma pre- and post-colectomy in hereditary colorectal cancer (CRC) syndrome patients (Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP), Lynch syndrome (also known as HNPCC), and Multiple Adenomatous Polyposis (MAP, also known as MYK/MYH) cases) and genetically related FAP-family members as controls and references.
NCT01843062
The study is designed to evaluate the clinical efficacy, safety and tolerability of selumetinib with radioactive iodine therapy in patients with differentiated thyroid cancer.
NCT02873221
This study will evaluate the long-term safety and tolerability of intermittent treatment with ubrogepant for the acute treatment of migraine over 1 year.
NCT03433131
This EAP will be open to provide access to treatment with pitolisant while a U.S. New Drug Application (NDA) is being prepared and submitted for review for marketing approval. This program will be open to adult patients in the U.S. with Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS) associated with narcolepsy, with or without cataplexy. Pitolisant will be made available through treating physicians participating in the program.
NCT02109770
The purpose of this study is to collect blood from families with a child who has been diagnosed with a chromosomal disorder including microdeletions in order to further develop a non-invasive prenatal screening test based on fetal DNA isolated from maternal blood.
NCT01981109
The primary purpose of this research is to describe patient characteristics predictive of an imaging study positive for distant metastases in patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer and no known distant metastases.
NCT03529994
The purpose of this study is to compare work of breathing on different levels of high flow respiratory support on infants born between 27 and 37 weeks gestation.
NCT03887104
Data Collection of OCT and OCTA-based Ocular Measurements
NCT01182350
Diagnosis of diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) for decades has relied on imaging studies and clinical findings. Histologic confirmation has been absent with surgical biopsy of brainstem tumors not believed to have acceptable safety. The prognosis of DIPG has remained quite poor and novel therapeutic strategies are needed. This DIPG Biology and Treatment Study (DIPG-BATS) study incorporates a surgical biopsy at presentation using strict preoperative neurosurgical planning and stratifies participants to receive FDA-approved agents chosen on the basis of specific biologic targets. This is the first prospective national clinical trial to examine the feasibility and safety of incorporating surgical biopsy into potential treatment strategies for children with DIPG.
NCT03212521
A study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of glecaprevir(GLE)/pibrentasvir(PIB) in treatment-naïve participants with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotypes 1-6 infection and with an aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio index (APRI) of less than or equal to 1.
NCT01949779
The primary objective of this registry is to collect real world data on the safety and performance of the TransForm™ Occlusion Balloon Catheter when used in current neurointerventional procedures
NCT03785184
This study will evaluate the safety and preliminary efficacy of venetoclax when combined with lenalidomide and dexamethasone for participants with newly diagnosed, active t(11;14) positive multiple myeloma (MM). This study will consist of 2 parts: Part 1 Dose Escalation and Part 2 Dose Expansion.
