NCT05418023
This study involves sample collection to identify biomarkers relating to Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD) in the saliva of children who are between the ages of 18 months to 6 years and 11 months. Participants will at each timepoint have a non-invasive saliva swab collected and complete a brief demographic and medical history questionnaire as well. Children in the pediatric/provider setting who will receive a referral for an ASD diagnosis because they were determined to have a suspicion of developing ASD will be enrolled in the study. Children will also be enrolled in the specialist evaluation setting where they will receive a DSM-5 diagnosis. A subset of both enrollment cohorts will also be followed up with at a third time point in which their diagnosis will be confirmed, and information about any ongoing treatment will be gathered.
NCT05029843
The Single Large-Scale mtDNA Deletion Sydrome: Natural History Study (PS-NHS) aims to collect data on standardized clinical outcomes, store data on the Champ Foundation Registry (CFR) and make this data available to researchers, clinicians, and industry partners who are studying SLSMDS to answer questions regarding the disease, including its causes, potential treatments, and other topics. A secondary aim is to analyze the data to understand research questions relating to the natural history of SLSMDS.
NCT03964467
Stroke often leads to long-term disability including upper extremity (UE) dysfunction even with the provision of timely rehabilitation services. Brain injury stemming from stroke, affecting the corticospinal system results in weakness, alterations in muscle tone and incoordination during the performance of functional tasks. Recovery of functional task performance after injury to the corticospinal system involves a residual neural network that engages the premotor cortex, frontal cortex and supplementary motor cortex. In particular, the dorsal premotor cortex (PMd) is anatomically and physiologically poised to reorganize and support motor recovery after corticospinal damage. The goal of this study is to determine the feasibility and efficacy of stimulating the ipsilesional PMd in adults with chronic stroke using noninvasive anodal transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) during the training sessions of a 4-week circuit-based, UE, task-related training (TRT) program. Pilot data from six adults, using anodal tDCS over the injured PMd just before each session of TRT, led to significant improvements in UE function in 5 of the 6 adults after only 4 weeks of training. We will assess the motor function of both arms using clinical assessments immediately before and after the 4-week TRT program. In addition to effects of tDCS-primed UE-TRT on clinical outcomes, we will use functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to determine the changes in neural network reorganization. We hypothesize that the training program will reveal significant improvement in motor function based on clinical assessment as well as significant global network changes based on resting state functional MRI and hybrid diffusion MR imaging. The long-term goal of this research is to develop an effective intervention strategy to improve UE function in individuals with moderate impairment from chronic stroke.
NCT05712928
Schizophrenia is a chronic and severe mental disorder affecting 20 million people throughout the world and is the fourth leading cause of disability in the developed world. Currently, restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, cause greater social withdrawal, reduced access to social support, lack of motivation, under-activity and loneliness for patients with schizophrenia. Given the prevalence of under-activity, interventions such as dance/movement therapy that use movement and dance to support intellectual, emotional, and motor functions of the body, can optimize the functioning of individuals with schizophrenia. There have been urgent calls for research on telehealth interventions to address the mental health needs caused by COVID-19 pandemic. To address this call, this study will test the feasibility and acceptability of a novel, 10-week dance/movement therapy protocol to promote activation in chronic schizophrenia designed for telehealth delivery. This study will be the first to examine the feasibility and preliminary effects of telehealth dance/movement therapy to promote activation in chronic schizophrenia. This study can contribute towards the development of telehealth interventions for treatment and rehabilitation of individuals with chronic schizophrenia.
NCT05047588
The goals of this cross-sectional study on a racially diverse group of children (3-10y) and their mothers are to determine whether the relationship between sweet taste phenotypes differed among mother-daughter and mother-son dyads and to determine the predictive value of a hair biomarker (delta13C). Given the widespread overconsumption of added sugars, and the associated burden of disease, improving surveillance measures and developing strategies to reduce added sugar intake, especially among the youngest members of society, are public health priorities.
NCT03504020

NCT01074294
This study tests the effects of an investigational antipsychotic drug (called OPC-34712) in adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) when taken with an approved stimulant medication to explore a possible impact on sleep, quality of life and cognitive function.
NCT04485741
Listening to breath sounds with the stethoscope/auscultation is used by pulmonary physicians in conjunction with pulmonary function, signs and symptoms, oxygen saturation and diagnostic testing to admit, follow and discharge patients from hospital. Of these, only auscultation routinely ceases upon discharge from Hospital. Healthcare utilization statistics have shown that for more than a decade, readmission after discharge for an exacerbation of COPD or severe asthma (or chronic heart failure) remains a major problem. The Strados System has been designed to extend the range of lung sound recording both geographically and temporally to improve the standard of care when access to continuous monitoring has been replaced by periodic or no monitoring. The primary purpose of this study is to assess the clinical utility of the Strados System in enabling periodic recording and reviewing of breath sounds in patients with chronic respiratory diseases, either in the ICU, or in less continuously monitored settings, including after inpatient discharge.
NCT00608972
The purpose of this research study is to look at the effectiveness of a combination of doxil, carboplatin and bevacizumab on metastatic breast cancer. The type of breast cancer being studied is negative for a protein called HER2/neu and for estrogen receptors (ER) and progesterone receptors (PR). HER2/neu, ER and PR are part of a family of receptors found on both cancer and normal cells. This family of receptors is important for cell growth and is found in many tumor types. This study is being conducted for the following research purposes:· To find out what effects, if any, the study drug has on metastatic breast cancer. For instance, will the study drug cause the tumor(s) to shrink or stop growing?· To test the safety of the study drugs and to see what affects it has. For instance, are there any side effects? If so, what kind of side effects does the study drug cause? How severe are the side effects, and how often do they occur?· To see if the study drugs have any effect on keeping the disease from getting worse.
