NCT00002238
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of interferon beta (Betaseron) in AIDS and advanced AIDS related complex (ARC) patients receiving a reduced-dose zidovudine (AZT) regimen.
NCT00005012
The purpose of this study is to see if it is effective to give PEG-Intron (PEG-IFN) to HIV-infected patients who are not doing well with their current anti-HIV drug combination (HAART).
NCT00005105
OBJECTIVES: I. Determine if mutations in the gene encoding the insulin-like growth factor-I receptor lead to relative insulin-like growth factor-I insensitivity and produce intrauterine growth retardation in children.
NCT00002389
To compare the durability of the viral load response following 48 weeks of treatment with 1592U89/lamivudine (3TC)/zidovudine (ZDV) versus 3TC/ZDV alone. To compare the early antiviral activity following 16 weeks treatment with 1592U89/3TC/ZDV versus 3TC/ZDV alone as demonstrated by the proportion of subjects with viral load \< 400 copies/ml, plasma HIV-1 RNA profiles and CD4+ profiles. To assess the safety and tolerance following 16 and 48 weeks of treatment with 1592U89/3TC/ZDV versus 3TC/ZDV alone.
NCT00009061
The purpose of this study is to compare virus response to GW433908/ritonavir (RTV) to viral response to nelfinavir (NFV) when used with abacavir (ABC)/lamivudine (3TC) in patients that have not taken antiretroviral (ART) drugs.
NCT00028405
This multi-center photodynamic therapy study plans to treat patients with large tumors in any superficial location, sarcoma, tumors of oral/oro-pharyngeal cavity, tumors with extensive pelvic involvement, or liver metastasis. The treatment is limited to patients that have failed to respond to currently approved methods of treatment. The study involves a single, intravenous administration of an investigational drug, LS11 (previously studied in approximately 80 cancer patients) and the placement of a novel, flexible light delivery catheter inside the tumor by a minor surgical procedure. The activation of LS11 by the light delivery catheter over a period of 1-24 hrs may result in destruction of tumor tissue.
NCT00002375
The purpose of this study is to see if it is safe and effective to treat HIV-infected patients with indinavir (IDV) plus nelfinavir (NFV), 2 anti-HIV medications. It is thought that IDV plus NFV will be a safe drug combination for treating HIV.
NCT00002368
To evaluate the tolerance, safety, and effectiveness of Viramune in preventing clinical AIDS progression events or death when used in combination with Lamivudine and background nucleoside therapy.
NCT00002374
To examine the efficacy of saquinavir SGC (soft gel capsules) in combination with other antiretrovirals in HIV-1 infected patients currently treated with saquinavir HGC (hard gel capsules) measured by the absolute change in plasma HIV-1 RNA during the 24 weeks of study treatment.
NCT00002187
The purpose of this study is to compare the safety and effectiveness of two dosage schedules for ISIS 2922 in the treatment of advanced cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis
NCT00047476
To evaluate the efficacy of dexmethylphenidate (d-MPH) in the treatment of chemotherapy-related fatigue in adult cancer subjects.
NCT00043446
The purpose of this study is to determine whether T900607-sodium is effective and safe in treating ovarian cancer.
NCT00002379
To evaluate the safety and tolerance of adefovir dipivoxil and indinavir administered orally in combination with zidovudine, lamivudine, or stavudine in HIV-infected patients with CD4 cell counts \>= 100 cells/mm3 and an HIV-1 RNA baseline copy number \>= 5000 copies/ml. To determine the proportion of patients whose plasma HIV-1 RNA level falls below the level of detection (500 copies/ml) by 20 weeks of study therapy and the average reduction in HIV-1 RNA from baseline through study week 20. To evaluate the durability of the antiviral response through 48 weeks of study in patients who continue on study therapy after week 24.
NCT00043797
This clinical trial is to determine an effective dosage and to study the safety of an investigational drug -lidorestat (IDD-676)- which is intended to stop or slow the progression of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
NCT00002357
To obtain preliminary information on the safety, tolerability, and antiretroviral activity of HBY 097 alone or in combination with zidovudine ( AZT ) versus AZT alone. PER 1/19/96 AMENDMENT: AZT monotherapy arm was eliminated.
NCT00002069
To determine if ditiocarb sodium (sodium diethyldithiocarbamate; DTC) restores immune and host defense function; if DTC ameliorates the AIDS related complex (ARC) symptoms in patients with AIDS and ARC; if DTC prevents progression from ARC to AIDS or progression of AIDS; and if DTC prolongs survival in AIDS.
NCT00036517
The triple combination chemotherapy of irinotecan, 5-fluorouracil and leucovorin (CPT-11/5-FU/LV or Saltz regimen) is the treatment of choice for patients with advanced colorectal cancer. Severe diarrhea, unfortunately, is a side effect of such treatment. Preclinical studies have indicated that the botanical drug PHY906 can reduce such diarrhea without compromising the effectiveness of the chemotherapy. The primary purpose of this clinical study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability and minimum effective dose of PHY906 when administered in conjunction with the Saltz regimen.
NCT00002310
To evaluate the safety and tolerance of topically applied SP-303T in AIDS patients. To observe the effect of this drug on herpes simplex virus lesions in patients who have failed to heal in response to oral or intravenous acyclovir therapy. The lack of alternative treatments for herpes simplex virus infection in patients with AIDS and the development of resistance to acyclovir for patients requiring repeated treatment presents a therapeutic dilemma for physicians. SP-303T has good in vitro activity against resistant strains and offers a convenient and inexpensive means of drug administration in comparison to the use of intravenous medication.
NCT00002178
To determine the proportion of patients whose plasma HIV-1 RNA level falls below the level of detection (\< 400 copies/ml) at week 16 and 24 of study therapy. To determine the absolute change in plasma HIV-1 RNA and in absolute CD4 cell count during the 24 weeks of study treatment. To collect safety data on the treatment regimens. To determine the percentage of patients without SQV soft gel capsules resistance-associated mutations at week 24.
NCT00002008
To determine the safety, immunogenicity, biological activity, ad pharmacokinetics of sargramostim ( recombinant granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor; GM-CSF ) human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor ( GM-CSF ), given by subcutaneous ( SC ) injection to patients with leukopenia in association with HIV infection.
