PRISMS is a double-blind, multicenter, randomized, Phase IIIb study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of intravenous (IV) alteplase in participants with mild acute ischemic strokes that do not appear to be clearly disabling. Participants will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive within 3 hours of last known well time either 1) one dose of IV alteplase and one dose of oral aspirin placebo or 2) one dose of IV alteplase placebo and one dose of oral aspirin 325 milligrams (mg).
NCT02305979
The purpose of this project is to assess the efficacy of loratadine in decreasing the incidence and severity of bone pain following G-CSF administration in patients with hematologic malignancies, patients undergoing mobilization of hematopoietic progenitor cells, and patients who have undergone an autologous hematopoietic cell transplant. This is a different patient population than those being assessed in current clinical trials.
NCT01234805
This clinical trial studies yoga therapy in treating patients with malignant brain tumors. Yoga therapy may improve the quality of life of patients with brain tumors
NCT01580410
This randomized phase II trial is studying the side effects and how well giving oxaliplatin or mitomycin C directly into the abdomen after surgery works in treating patients with tumors of the appendix. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as oxaliplatin and mitomycin C, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Heating a chemotherapy solution and infusing it directly into the abdomen may kill more tumor cells. Giving these treatments after surgery may kill any tumor cells that remain after surgery.
NCT00565266
Typically, people with asthma are initially prescribed a low dose of inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) medication to control asthma symptoms. If a low dose of ICS is ineffective at controlling symptoms, the addition of a second controller medication is recommended. This study will examine the effectiveness of the medication tiotropium bromide combined with a low dose of ICS at maintaining asthma control in people with moderately severe asthma.
NCT02971410
This pilot clinical trial studies how well simvastatin works in overcoming chemotherapy resistance in patients with multiple myeloma that has come back or does not respond to treatment. Simvastatin may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth.
NCT01053494
This clinical trial studies massage therapy given by caregiver in treating quality of life of young patients undergoing treatment for cancer. Massage therapy given by a caregiver may improve the quality of life of young patients undergoing treatment for cancer
NCT01034475
Chemotherapy resistance is a major cause of death in patients with advanced hematologic malignancies. The proposed novel mechanism of action, non-cross resistance with chemotherapeutic agents currently used in the clinic, and lack of CPI-613-related myelosuppression preclinically and clinically to date make CPI-613 a suitable candidate for phase I clinical trial in these patients. The current trial is one of several clinical trials of CPI-613. Other clinical trials that are conducted in patients with solid tumors have already been initiated. The primary objective of this study is to determine the safety and MTD of CPI-613 when administered 2x weekly for 3 consecutive weeks. The secondary objective is to determine the PKs of CPI-613 following IV administration and to observe the anti-tumor effects of CPI-613, if any occur.
NCT02331212
This research trial studies the role of a substance called hyaluronic acid in causing the growth of cancer stem cells in the bones of patients with breast cancer. Cancer stem cells are a type of cancer cells that may cause the cancer to spread to other parts of the body. Studying samples of blood and bone marrow from patients and animal models in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about whether hyaluronic acid affects the growth of cancer in the bones.
NCT01164566
Brief Summary: RATIONALE: Comparing results of diagnostic procedures, such as esophagoscopy, done before and after radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy may help doctors predict a patient's response to treatment and help plan the best treatment. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying esophagoscopy in evaluating treatment in patients with stage I-IV head and neck cancer who are undergoing radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy.
NCT01557959
This phase II trial is studying how well docetaxel given together with cisplatin and pegfilgrastim followed by erlotinib hydrochloride works in treating patients with stage IIIB or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Colony stimulating factors, such as pegfilgrastim, may increase the number of immune cells found in bone marrow or peripheral blood and may help the immune system recover from the side effects of chemotherapy. Erlotinib hydrochloride may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Giving dose-dense combination chemotherapy together with pegfilgrastim and erlotinib hydrochloride may kill more tumor cells
NCT00253669
RATIONALE: Patients with gliomas may be at risk for developing blood clots. Learning about the risk factors for developing blood clots may help doctors plan better treatment for gliomas. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying risk factors for developing blood clots in patients who are undergoing cancer treatment for newly diagnosed gliomas.
NCT02008032
Purpose:The aim of this research is to compare the 3D s-DBT (stationary digital breast tomosynthesis) and conventional 2-D digital mammography devices with regards to patient comfort and radiologist preference in women with breast implants. Participants: Women with breast implants undergoing routine 2-D digital mammography. Procedures (methods): 50 female subjects with breast implants undergoing conventional screening mammography will be recruited to have a single view s-DBT in the mediolateral projection. We will perform a patient preference study and radiologist reader study composed of radiologists who have experience evaluating tomosynthesis images. A short survey will be given to each patient about their preference in modality with respect to comfort. Each reader will review the images and score the ease of interpretation, and their confidence of interpretation.
