The goal of the proposed study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Lamictal in neurotic excoriation. Twenty subjects with neurotic excoriation will receive 12 weeks of open-label treatment with Lamictal. The hypothesis to be tested is that Lamictal will be effective and well tolerated in patients with neurotic excoriation. The proposed study will provide needed data on the treatment of a disabling disorder that currently lacks a clearly effective treatment.
NCT00454441
Menopausal women often complain of difficulty sleeping and the transition from pre- to postmenopausal status is associated with an incresase in self-reported sleep disturbance. Hot flashes have been associated with self-reported measures of sleep disturbance and changes in sleep pattern as measured by plysomnography, including an increase in stage 4 and a latency or shortened time in rapid-eye movement sleep. Although there are some data on the effect of hormone replacement therapy on self-reported sleep measures in symptomatic postmenopausal women, there are no data on the effect of herbal extracts on subjective or objective measures of sleep quality in this population group. Actigraphy, the use of a device to record movement generally placed on the wrist, has been used over 20 years to provide objective data concerning sleep/wake patterns. The advantage of actigraphy over traditional polysomnography is that actigraphy can conveniently record continuously for 24-hours a day for longer periods of time.
NCT00139763
This is a questionnaire based study (no study drug is involved) that asks if more patients with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes on diabetes pills will choose insulin as the next treatment choice if inhaled insulin were available in addition to all currently available treatments, compared with if inhaled insulin was not available as part of currently available treatments. This study will also ask if patients with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes currently managed on diabetes pills + once daily insulin will choose as the next treatment choice to take insulin multiple times a day if inhaled insulin were available in addition to all currently available treatments, compared with if inhaled insulin was not available as part of currently available treatments.
