NCT00557921
The purpose of the COGENT-1 clinical trial is to determine whether CGT-2168 (clopidogrel and omeprazole) compared to clopidogrel is safe and effective in reducing the incidence of gastrointestinal bleeding and symptomatic ulcer disease, in the setting of concomitant aspirin therapy. Antiplatelet therapy is an essential element of care for patients with atherothrombotic disease. Bleeding is a fundamental adverse effect of all antiplatelet drugs including aspirin, clopidogrel and dual antiplatelet regimens. The gastrointestinal tract is the most common site of bleeding related to antiplatelet therapy, typically in connection with peptic ulcer disease. Recently published studies suggest the use of clopidogrel carries a gastrointestinal bleeding risk similar to that of aspirin or non-aspirin non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Patients taking any two of these drugs (clopidogrel, aspirin and/or non-aspirin NSAIDs) are exposed to an even higher risk of bleeding and ulcer disease. Cogentus Pharmaceuticals is launching phase 3 trials of a novel combination product, CGT-2168, which has the potential to significantly reduce this problem and increase patient safety. CGT-2168 combines a standard dosage of clopidogrel and a gastroprotectant (omeprazole) in a once-daily pill that may reduce the likelihood of adverse gastrointestinal events.
NCT00279981
The purpose of this study is to look at the heart rate and rhythm information collected daily in Medtronic implantable pulse generators (IPG), implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices. The study will gather this information from many patients to see if heart rate or rhythm data can predict the risk of a patient having a medical condition such as stroke.
NCT00269230
People who have abnormal heart beats, or whose heart does not beat on its own, may need an electronic device called a pacemaker or a defibrillator. Furthermore, people whose hearts have a reduced pumping ability may need a device are called cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) device. A CRT device is implanted surgically just under the skin in the upper chest area. This device then helps the heart beat at a regular rhythm by sending electrical signals (pacing) directly to the heart tissue through flexible wires called leads. The device may also be able to stop the heart from beating too fast. Three leads are implanted into the chambers of your heart. Two of the leads will be placed on the right side of your heart. The third lead is placed on the left side of your heart and is the lead being studied. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the Attain StarFixTM Model 4195 Left Ventricular (LV) Lead. This particular model lead has special characteristics that may help to better keep it in position once it is implanted into the left ventricle. It is also "steroid-eluting" which means that over time it slowly releases a small amount of medication into the heart tissue to help prevent too much swelling around the area it is implanted.

NCT00493857
This study will determine if nimotuzumab provides a benefit in this type of cancer when given in combination with irinotecan. The study will test: * How long any good effects last. * How bad any side effects are. Objectives: Primary: The primary goal is to assess the Objective Response Rate (ORR) that the combination of irinotecan and nimotuzumab will produce in patients with irinotecan-refractory metastatic colorectal cancer Secondary: * To assess the incidence of Grade 2 or greater acneiform rash or infusion reaction, allergic reaction or anaphylactoid reaction AEs in patients with irinotecan-refractory metastatic colorectal cancer following weekly or 2-weekly nimotuzumab schedules; * To assess Progression-Free Survival (PFS), defined as time from date of randomization until date of disease progression (clinical or radiological) or death due to any cause, for the two nimotuzumab schedules; * To assess the rates and durations of Stable Disease (SD) following weekly or 2-weekly nimotuzumab schedules; * To assess the Time to Disease Progression (TTP) following weekly or 2-weekly nimotuzumab schedules; * To evaluate ORR in patients who are identified as having "primary" irinotecan resistance following weekly or 2-weekly nimotuzumab schedules; * To evaluate Overall Survival (OS) following weekly or 2-weekly nimotuzumab schedules; * To compare the two dosing schedules of nimotuzumab with respect to objective response rates and safety; * To evaluate the overall safety and toxicity profiles of these two dose regimens of nimotuzumab; * To evaluate trough levels and accumulation of nimotuzumab in serum of patients receiving the drug on weekly or 2-weekly regimens.
NCT00116610
This is a Phase II research study that is designed for patients who have small cell lung cancer (SCLC) that is no longer responding to treatment. Patients will receive picoplatin, a new platinum-based agent that is currently under investigation, in 21-day cycles.
NCT00274313
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of a new inhaled sodium-channel blocker called 552-02 in teens and adults with cystic fibrosis. 552-02 will be inhaled once a day for 14 days using a nebulizer. A small subgroup of patients will donate blood samples for pharmacokinetic analysis to see how 552-02 is absorbed into the blood and eliminated after 14 days of treatment.
NCT00083447
TransMID treatment or best standard of care for patients with advanced glioblastoma multiforme Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a type of brain tumour. GBM tumours are usually treated with surgery and radiotherapy. Unfortunately, this type of brain tumour may continue to grow or come back (recur) despite treatment. This trial will compare a new drug called TransMID with the best standard treatment that is currently available. TransMID is a drug that is a combination of a protein called transferrin and a poison called diphtheria toxin. Cancer cells need iron in order to continue to grow. They need more iron than normal cells. Transferrin helps cells to take up available iron. So the cancer cells are attached to the transferrin in TransMID, and the diphtheria poison kills them. The aim of this treatment is to kill the cancer cells while not affecting the normal brain cells. This treatment for brain tumours may have fewer side effects than other treatments because it targets cancer cells. The best standard treatment will involve giving chemotherapy. You may have chemotherapy as part of the treatment when you are diagnosed. Or it may be kept in reserve to treat your brain tumour if it comes back or continues to grow. Your cancer specialist (consultant) will decide which chemotherapy drugs you should have.

The CS 1018 study will recruit a total of 600 patients seeking treatment for opiate dependence. They will be recruited from six states (Florida, New York, Texas, California, Washington, and Illinois), with up to ten private physician sites or clinics participating in each state. Coordination of the participating sites and clinics in each of the six states will be performed from an associated Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (Tampa VAMC, New York City VAMC, San Antonio VAMC, Long Beach VAMC, Seattle VAMC, and Hines VAMC). The Principal Investigator (PI) at each of the six VAMC?s will be a physician experienced in the treatment of opiate dependent patients. Patients will be recruited by any of numerous strategies including word of mouth, self-referral, local fliers, newspapers, and radio advertisements. This study will be conducted open label with no random assignment or stratification. Patients may be accepted for detoxification or longer-term treatment (6 to 12 months of buprenorphine/naloxone therapy). Patients under the age of 21 will initially be admitted for detoxification; longer treatment of these patients will be based on physician judgement of the necessary of continued treatment. Patients will be inducted directly into buprenorphine/naloxone 4:1 combination tablets. Patients treated in private practice will be asked to sign a treatment contract which will delineate the terms and conditions of treatment.
