NCT00293917
A study to assess the long-term safety of tacrolimus cream in the treatment of psoriasis
NCT00604981
Despite the dramatic increase in obesity and Type II Diabetes in adolescents, documented effective treatments for obesity and the consequential prevention of Type II Diabetes are scarce. Modification of food and activity choices is the foundation of obesity treatment; however, adolescents may find it difficult to follow recommended diet and exercise programs. This study uses a home-based treatment, Multisystemic Therapy (MST), to target change within the individual, family and environmental contexts. Participants are 49 obese (BMI\>95th percentile) African American adolescents (ages 12-17). 24 were randomized to receive the MST intervention and 25 were placed in Shapedown, a family group program. Families were recruited from the only university-affiliated medical center in Detroit, Michigan. Michigan's youth have higher rates of obesity, overweight, hypertension, and elevated cholesterol compared to the national average, and Detroit has the highest percentage of African Americans of any major city in the US. Families complete measurements at the start of the treatment, at the end of the treatment and one year after enrollment. We expect to find that youth in the MST group will show more weight loss and greater improvements in diet (e.g., caloric intake and exercise behaviors than will youth in Shapedown. These changes in food choices, activity levels, and weight are expected to remain after the end of treatment. This intervention is intended to provide immediate assistance to a vulnerable population disproportionately affected by obesity and its long-term health complications.
NCT00298168
Selectins have been implicated in the pathogenesis of ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)-induced kidney injury and resultant delayed graft function (DGF). PSGL-1 is a ligand for P-, E-, and L-selectin. It has been reported that YSPSL (rPSGL-Ig) blocks P-selectin and, to a lesser degree, E- and L-selectin. Both sPSGL-1 and YSPSL (rPSGL-Ig) have been shown in animal models to reduce both cytokines and tissue damage associated with ischemia reperfusion and to improve renal function post-transplant. Therefore, the current phase I/II clinical study is designed to assess the safety and efficacy of YSPSL (rPSGL-Ig) in preventing DGF in patients undergoing cadaveric kidney transplants and to determine a dose for future pivotal studies.
NCT00082082
The objective of this Phase II trial is to compare the efficacy and safety of 6 months of treatment with thymalfasin plus trans arterial chemoembolization (TACE) with TACE alone in adult patients with non-surgical hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
NCT00366002
This study will evaluate safety, efficacy and patient's perception of outcome after treatment with darifenacin (7.5 mg once daily (o.d.) with voluntary increase up to 15 mg o.d.) in patients with OAB who are dissatisfied with prior oxybutynin extended release (ER) or tolterodine extended release (ER) therapy.
NCT00600327
The primary objective of this study is to demonstrate the safety of the NexStent for treatment of carotid artery lesions undergoing stenting with adjunctive use of the FilterWire distal embolic protection device. The rates will be compared to an Objective Performance Criterion (OPC) derived from historic data from high-risk patients undergoing surgical intervention with Carotid endarterectomy. Patients included in this study are those at higher risk for complications associated with CEA.
NCT00159614
The purpose of this study is to characterize the safety and tolerability of KW-3902IV and measure its effect on renal function.
NCT00046371
The purpose of this study is to examine the immunological response rate to administration of the THERATOPE® vaccine in women with stable metastatic breast cancer who are being treated with aromatase inhibitors or Faslodex® and who do not require chemotherapy. Post-menopausal women on aromatase inhibitors or Faslodex® alone and pre-menopausal women on aromatase inhibitors plus luteinising hormone-releasing hormone (LH/RH)-agonist may be eligible to be enrolled. Patients must not have had radiotherapy or major surgery within four (4) weeks prior to entering the study. Information about the safety and tolerability of administration of the THERATOPE® vaccine will also be gathered during the course of the study.
NCT00083590
The present study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of the Chinese herb huperzine A in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease (AD) in a randomized controlled trial of its effect on cognitive function.
NCT00063713
The purpose of this study is to find out whether treatment with VELCADE will increase the time it takes for lymphoma to get worse.
NCT00073463
The purpose of this study is to confirm the improvement in pulmonary function and cytokine levels observed in the recently completed multidose aerosol study for the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis (CF).
NCT00127270
This study is designed to investigate the efficacy and safety of treatment of overactive bladder with darifenacin administered alone or in conjunction with behavioral modification therapies.
NCT00413790
This study will evaluate the pharmacologic effects of exposure to darifenacin and tolterodine on cardiovascular parameters in healthy subjects 50 years of age and older
NCT00171483
Study to assess the effects of tegaserod added to PPI therapy in the resolution of heartburn and regurgitation in patients with incomplete relief from PPIs .
NCT00051974
The purpose of this study is to evaluate how tumors in patients with non-small cell lung cancer respond to treatment with VELCADE alone versus VELCADE given with docetaxel and also to see what effects (good and bad) it has on you and your cancer.
NCT00159627
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety of KW-3902IV compared to placebo and to determine the diuretic effect of KW-3902IV compared to placebo in patients hospitalized with volume overload due to CHF who are refractory to high dose diuretic therapy.
NCT00435123
This is a long-term, randomized, placebo-controlled, double blind clinical study of a nutritional supplement, ProStat 64, in chronic hemodialysis patients with poor nutrition. Subjects receive either ProStat 64 or Placebo for three months. At the end of this period, all subjects will receive ProStat-64 for a further 3 months at which time the study is ended. Parameters of nutritional status (lean body mass and serum protein) will be collected at baseline, 3 months and 6 months.
NCT00121381
Atopic dermatitis, also called eczema, is characterized by redness, papulation (skin elevation) and pruritus (skin itching). The active ingredient of pimecrolimus inhibits the T-cell activation. These cells are involved in the inflammatory component of the disease. This study will test the safety of pimecrolimus Cream 1% with topical corticosteroid treatment (commonly used in eczema) in patients with severe atopic dermatitis.
NCT00328705
This is an acute, prospective, multi-center, non-randomized, investigational device exemption (IDE) clinical study.
NCT00125918
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of tadalafil for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension.
