This multi-center, randomized, double blind, parallel-group, placebo-controlled study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of RO4917838 (bitopertin) in patients with persistent, predominant negative symptoms of schizophrenia. Patients, on stable treatment with antipsychotics, will be randomized to receive daily oral doses of RO4917838 or matching placebo for 52 weeks, followed by an optional treatment extension for up to 3 years.

This double-blind, double-dummy 3 arm study will evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of taspoglutide versus pioglitazone in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus inadequately controlled with sulfonylurea monotherapy or sulfonylurea plus metformin combination therapy. After an initial screening period, patients will be randomized to one of 3 groups, to receive a)taspoglutide 10mg sc weekly, b)taspoglutide 20mg sc weekly after 4 weeks of taspoglutide 10mg sc weekly or c)pioglitazone 45mg/day po after 4 weeks of pioglitazone 30mg/day po.The anticipated time on study treatment is 24 months, and the target sample size is 500+ individuals.

This randomized, multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study will assess the efficacy and safety of lebrikizumab in patients with asthma whose disease remains uncontrolled despite daily therapy with an inhaled corticosteroid and a second controller medication. Patients will be randomized in a 1:1:1:1 ratio to receive double-blind treatment with subcutaneous lebrikizumab ("highest", "middle", "lowest" dose) or placebo every 4 weeks for 52 weeks, in addition to their standard-of-care therapy. This will be followed by a 52-week double-blind active treatment extension. The anticipated time on study treatment is up to 104 weeks. There will be a safety follow-up of 24 weeks after the last dose of study drug for all patients.

This randomized, open-label, multicenter study will evaluate the safety , efficacy and tolerability of the combination treatment RO5466731, RO5190591, ritonavir and Copegus (ribavirin) with or without RO5024048 in patients with chronic hepatitis C genotype 1. In Part 1, treatment-naïve patients will be randomized to receive treatment with RO5466731, RO5190591 plus ritonavir, and Copegus, with or without RO5024048. In Part 2, further treatment-naïve patients will receive a successful regimen from Part 1, or a reduced intensity regimen, and patients who have previously experienced null response to interferon-based treatment will be added to the study.

This 6 arm study will assess the efficacy, safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics of aleglitazar therapy in patients with Type 2 diabetes. Patients will be randomised to one of 6 treatment arms, to receive one of 4 doses of aleglitazar, Actos as an open-label active comparator, or placebo. Aleglitazar will be administered starting from a dose of 0.05mg po daily, and Actos will be administered at a dose of 45mg once daily. The anticipated time on study treatment is 3-12 months, and the target sample size is 100-500 individuals.

This study will assess the efficacy, safety and tolerability of increasing doses of GK Activator (2) in patients with type 2 diabetes whose condition has not been optimally controlled with one previous oral antihyperglycemic agent. After a 2 week washout from their previous antidiabetic therapy, patients will receive GK Activator (2) orally, twice a day for 12 weeks, at increasing doses of 25mg bid to 200mg bid; doses will be titrated to achieve a target fasting glucose level (FPG) of \<100mg/dL. The anticipated time on study treatment is \<3 months, and the target sample size is 100-500 individuals.

This phase II, open-label, randomized study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of MEHD7945A versus cetuximab in patients with recurrent/metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck who have progressed during or following platinum-based chemotherapy. Patients will be randomized to receive either MEHD7945A 1100 mg intravenously (iv) every 2 weeks or cetuximab 400 mg/m2 iv loading dose followed by 250 mg/m2 iv weekly. Patients treated with cetuximab (Arm B) may cross-over to MEHD7945A (Arm A) upon central confirmation of progressive disease and upon meeting eligibility criteria. Anticipated time on study treatment is until disease progression or intolerable toxicity occurs.

This 7 arm study will determine the optimal treatment combination, based on efficacy and safety. Patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC), genotype 1, will be randomized to one of 7 treatment groups. Groups 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 will receive triple combination treatment with HCV polymerase inhibitor pro-drug (at doses of 500, 1000 or 1500mg po bid) plus PEGASYS (90 or 180 micrograms sc weekly) plus Copegus (1000 or 1200mg po qd) for 24 weeks, followed by 24 weeks of open label Standard of Care (PEGASYS 180 micrograms sc weekly plus Copegus 1000/1200mg po qd). Group 3 will receive HCV polymerase inhibitor pro-drug 500mg po bid plus PEGASYS 180 micrograms sc weekly plus Copegus 1000/1200mg po qd for 24 weeks; after 24 weeks, those achieving a rapid virological response (RVR) will stop all medication, and non-RVR patients will remain on triple combination for an additional 24 weeks. Group 7 will receive standard of care (SOC) for 48 weeks. There will be a 24 week period of treatment-free follow-up for all treatment groups. The anticipated time on study treatment is 3-12 months, and the target sample size is 100-500 individuals.

This single center, multiple ascending dose study will assess the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of RO4905417 at different doses in healthy volunteers and patients with peripheral arterial disease. Three groups of 10 healthy volunteers will receive RO4905417 (either 3mg/kg, 7mg/kg or 20mg/kg) or placebo iv every 28 days for a total of 3 infusions. In addition, two groups of 6 PAD patients will receive RO4905417 (either 3mg/kg, 7mg/kg) or placebo and 1 group of 20 PAD patients will receive 20mg/kg RO4905417 or placebo iv every 28 days for a total of three infusions. The study will have an adaptive design with ongoing assessment of safety and tolerability prior to initiation of the next dose. All subjects will receive 3 doses of RO4905417 or matching placebo at 28 day intervals. The anticipated time on study treatment is 3-12 months, and the target sample size is \<100 individuals.

This study will investigate the effect of renal impairment on the pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics of GK Activator (2) in patients with type 2 diabetes, and will evaluate the effect of renal function on the safety of the drug. Patients will be assigned to treatment groups according to their renal function (normal, moderate renal impairment, or severe renal impairment). After a 1 week washout period from current oral anti-diabetic treatment, all patients will receive a single oral dose of 100mg GK Activator (2), and blood and urine samples will be taken up to 96h post-dose. This 2 stage study will compare the pharmacokinetics and safety profile of subcutaneous and intravenous rituximab in participants with follicular lymphoma. In the first stage, participants who have achieved at least a partial response after induction treatment with intravenous rituximab will be randomized to one of 3 treatment cohorts, to receive rituximab 375 milligram per square meter (mg/m\^2) intravenously, 375 mg/m\^2 subcutaneously or 625 mg/m\^2 subcutaneously, and pharmacokinetics evaluated on an ongoing basis. Upon selection of the subcutaneous dose (800 mg/m\^2) which results in rituximab trough plasma concentration (C trough) values comparable to those achieved with the intravenous formulation, participants in the second stage of the study will be randomized to receive either the subcutaneous or intravenous formulation to demonstrate comparability of the C trough levels with both routes of administration. Maintenance therapy will continue every 2 or 3 months with the subcutaneous formulation.
