NCT00263874
This initial proof of concept, phase II study aims to assess the safety and efficacy of UK-500,001 for the chronic maintenance treatment of adults with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
NCT00490048
Ulcerative colitis is a systemic disease we assume that extra intestinal involvement as we describein our study( Fireman Z, Osipov A, Kivity S, Kopelman Y, Sternberg A Fireman E: Assessment of pulmonary involvement in Crohn's disease by induced sputum. Am J Gastroenterol 2000;95(30):730-734. )
NCT00092508
This dose comparison study, taking place at over 200 sites worldwide, will compare the dosing, safety and efficacy of an investigational medicine OPC-6535 to the dosing, safety and efficacy of Asacol ® in the maintenance of remission in subjects with ulcerative colitis.
NCT00348400
Evaluate the relative efficacy and tolerability of Alphagan P compared to Trusopt as adjunctive therapy
NCT00481208
Diurnal fluctuations of intraocular pressure (IOP) and peripapillary retinal blood flow may have distinctive patterns in medically well-controlled open-angle glaucoma patients. In the results, we found a unique pattern, 'Latent asymmetric IOP', defined as the IOP which differs between the eyes only when placed in the supine position. Unique effects of this latent asymmetric IOP on Visual field and diurnal IOP fluctuations were studied.
NCT00472342
Many adipokines are thought that related with metabolic disturbance such as glucose intolerance, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance. It is reported that regular physical training could prevent the progression of diabetes from prediabetes and improve the insulin resistance. After physical training, many adipokine levels were changed due to improving insulin resistance. In this study, we will examine the various adipokine levels such as adiponectin, RBP-4, and adrenomedullin after exercise training through exercise prescription in IFG and IGT patients.
NCT00470964
Titanium Sapphire laser trabeculoplasty is effective in lowering intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients, and is comparable to argon laser trabeculoplasty
NCT00146926
Propofol is a popular intravenous drug to induce anesthesia but it causes local pain with an incidence between 40 and 90%. Three different strategies to prevent propofol induced pain will be studied compared with placebo. Pain will be scored with a four-point scale.
NCT00466544
Study objective is to provide prospective randomized controlled data on pediatric pain levels found in PlasmaKnife tonsillectomy and monopolar tonsillectomy.
NCT00442663
The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy of a transcervical Foley catheter with and without extra-amniotic saline infusion (EASI) for priming the cervix for labor.
NCT00336609
Observational (non-drug) study to look at the risks and burden of mucositis (sores) involving the mouth, throat and intestines in patients receiving chemotherapy and radiation therapy treatment for various cancer types.
NCT00444431
In this randomized trial surgical therapy and surveillance of ureteropelvic junction obstruction will be compared, regarding partial renal function.
NCT00259558
The purpose of this study is to find the optimal dose of retarded release Phosphatidylcholine in the most severe form of ulcerative colitis. The hypothesis is that ulcerative colitis (UC) is caused by a barrier dysfunction of the colonic mucus layer. The background of the study is the finding, that the phosphatidylcholine (PC) content of the colonic mucus is strongly reduced in UC compared to healthy controls and patients with Crohn´s disease. The content was meuasured in non-inflamed areas of the colon in UC. Thus, we evaluate whether a substitution of colonic PC is an effective method.
NCT00428740
Long-term intraocular pressure (IOP) fluctuation may be significantly associated with the progression of glaucomatous visual field loss, even in patients kept always low IOP after triple procedure, an effective approach for patients with coexisting glaucoma and visually significant cataracts.
NCT00289003
The purpose of this study is to explore the protective effect and safety of soluble beta-1,3/1,6-glucan compared to placebo in oral mucositis in head and neck patients receiving radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy. Hypothesis: Soluble beta-1,3/1,6-glucan will through its immunomodulating activities prevent oral mucositis
NCT00419289
Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) may benefit from an 8-week pulmonary rehabilitation programme. However, the effect of the programme tends to attenuate with time. Patients who complete the programme are randomized to continued rehabilitation follow-up and control follow-up.
NCT00407862
Inhibition of RAS delays onset of diabetes in clinical studies. Preliminary evidence suggests that telmisartan may have unique metabolic properties compared to other ARB due to activation of PPARγ. This should be tested in comparison with an ARB that is metabolically neutral in already published studies. H0: Telmisartan is not different from Losartan with respect to metabolic and vascular effects. H1: Telmisartan is different from Losartan with respect to metabolic and vascular effects.
NCT00400543
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with adverse cardiovascular outcomes, including acute myocardial infarction and stroke. Atherosclerosis is an important step for these events. Recent studies demonstrated the independent association between OSA and validated markers of atherosclerosis. However, the impact of treatment with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) on these markers is unknown. The purpose of this study is to determine whether CPAP therapy can reverses early signs of atherosclerosis in apparently healthy OSA patients.
NCT00224692
Hypothesis : Low dose ketamine has an analgesic effect in children with mucositis treated by patient-controlled analgesia with morphine
NCT00270868
The purpose of this study is to determine if the double guide wire technique is more effective than the conventional method in those cases of difficult selective biliary cannulation in the ERCP procedures.
