NCT00047723
The purpose of this trial is to test the safety, tolerability, and effectiveness of minocycline compared to placebo in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
NCT00092508
This dose comparison study, taking place at over 200 sites worldwide, will compare the dosing, safety and efficacy of an investigational medicine OPC-6535 to the dosing, safety and efficacy of Asacol ® in the maintenance of remission in subjects with ulcerative colitis.
NCT00054795
The primary purpose of the study is to determine if patients with brain metastases from non-small cell lung cancer treated with Motexafin Gadolinium and whole brain radiation therapy retain their neurologic function and ability to think for a longer time compared to patients treated with whole brain radiation therapy alone.
NCT00070993
Creatine is a naturally occurring chemical involved in the production of energy in muscle. Abnormalities in creatine have been linked to the progression of degenerative neuromuscular diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease). This study will test whether taking creatine can improve the symptoms of ALS.
NCT00055510
This research study is intended to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of 3 different doses of BO-653, an investigational inhibitor of LDL cholesterol oxidation, when given orally twice a day compared to placebo (an inactive substance) in preventing restenosis (closure of vessel) within six months after stent implantation. Patients must be enrolled into this study within 24 hours after the stenting procedure. Additionally, over a 1- to 9-month post-stent period, the study will compare the safety and effectiveness of BO-653 versus placebo for measures of coronary artery vessel size by quantitative coronary angiography, major adverse cardiac events, and effects on the oxidative status of plasma lipids and other plasma components.
NCT00002446
The purpose of this study is to compare the safety and effectiveness of 2 treatments for thrush (a fungal infection of the mouth and throat) in HIV-positive patients. Fluconazole is a drug that is commonly used to treat thrush. SCH 56592 is a new drug that will be compared to fluconazole.
NCT00416117
Mounting evidence does support the combined use of manual physical therapy (MPT)and exercise for patients with cervicogenic headache and mechanical neck pain. However, there is insufficient evidence to assess the effectiveness of MPT and exercise for patients with neck disorders with radicular symptoms. Our purpose for this study was to determine the effectiveness of a manual physical therapy and exercise program as compared to a minimal intervention approach in the treatment of patients with mechanical neck pain, with or without upper extremity symptoms.
NCT00139282
Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is a degenerative eye disease of the retina that causes a progressive loss of central vision. AMD is the leading cause of blindness among adults age 50 or older in the Western world. AMD presents in two different types: "dry" and the more severe "wet" form. Wet AMD is caused by the growth of abnormal blood vessels in the macula. Squalamine lactate is an investigational drug that may prevent the growth of these abnormal blood vessels. This study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of Squalamine lactate in the treatment of AMD in patients, the exact number of which will be determined based on data from the sponsor's ongoing Phase 2 trials. The trial objective is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of two doses of Squalamine lactate for Injection administered as intravenous infusions weekly for 4 weeks followed by maintenance doses every 4 weeks through week 104 compared with the safety and efficacy in the control group.
NCT00294034
The purpose of this study is to collect data from pacemakers and determine how this information is used by physicians to care for their patients with pacemakers.
NCT00266682
People who have a slow heart beat, or whose heart does not beat on its own, may be in need of an electronic device called a pacemaker. A pacemaker is implanted surgically just under the skin in the upper chest area. This device helps the heart beat at a regular rhythm by sending electrical signals (pacing) directly to the heart tissue through flexible wires called leads. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that the SelectSecure (Model 3830) lead is safe and effective for both sensing the heart's natural rhythm and pacing the heart when it does not beat on its own. This lead will be studied in both the right atrium and right ventricle. A previously market approved Medtronic lead model will serve as a comparison to prove the safety and effectiveness of the SelectSecure Model.
NCT00192439
\- Estimate the incidence rate of hMPV infection detected by RT-PCR from frozen nasal wash aspirates in children at high risk for severe LRI disease (hospitalized at \<2 years of age).
NCT00385385
The objective of this study is to evaluate an antibiotic therapy called Rifalazil to determine its effect on hardening of the carotid arteries.
NCT00032279
The purpose of this phase II study is to evaluate an investigational monoclonal antibody for the treatment of glucocorticoid-refractory Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD). Patients diagnosed with GVHD who have not responded satisfactorily to, or are intolerant of, treatment with standard agents will be considered for entry. Patients will be allowed to continue on their other immunosuppressive drugs at stable doses during the trial. The research is being conducted at up to 20 clinical research sites in the US.
NCT00088192
To provide Pegaptanib sodium injection to patients with subfoveal choroidal neovascularization (CNV) secondary to AMD, who are unable to participate in any of the Sponsor's other clinical studies with this drug for AMD, until such time as the patient's lesion is considered to have resolved or stabilized in the opinion of the treating ophthalmologist, or product becomes commercially available.
NCT00226668
The purpose of this study is to examine the safety and efficacy of XERECEPT (human Corticotropin-Releasing Factor, or hCRF) compared to dexamethasone in patients with primary malignant glioma who require increased dexamethasone doses to control symptom of peritumoral brain edema.
NCT00001995
To determine if a drug regimen containing rifabutin will eradicate or decrease the numbers of Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) organisms in blood, improve the symptoms associated with MAC infection, and increase survival in patients with AIDS. To assess the safety of the drug regimen.
NCT00034710
The purpose of this study is to gain initial information on the tolerability of high-dose capsaicin patches in patients with Painful Postherpetic Neuralgia. The study will also collect preliminary information on safety and efficacy.
NCT00000155
To describe the clinical course of keratoconus and to describe the relationships among its visual and physiological manifestations, including high- and low-contrast visual acuity, corneal curvature, slit lamp biomicroscopic findings, corneal scarring, and quality of life. To identify risk factors and protective factors that influence the severity and progression of keratoconus.
NCT00228592
The purpose of this study is to compare the use of HepeX-B versus HBIg, two anti-viral drugs, in patients who have received liver transplants due to liver failure caused by Hepatitis B infection. Patients will be evaluated over a 6 month to 1.5 year period to evaluate whether or not the drugs prevent the Hepatitis B virus from infecting the new liver.
NCT00040560
The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety and imaging ability of 111In-DAC when used with planar and SPECT imaging for the detection of lung cancer and brain cancer consistent with metastatic lung cancer.
