A subcutaneous injection is an injection given under the skin. Entecavir, to be taken by mouth, is approved by the FDA for the treatment of hepatitis B. The study is divided into the following time periods: Screening Phase: Up to 4 weeks Randomized Double-blind Phase: 24 weeks Open-label Extension Phase: 24 weeksFollow-up Phase: a phone call after Week 48 Each phase contains one or more study visits.
NCT03395756
Background: The prevalence of repeat unprotected intercourse after EC use in the same cycle demonstrate the need for more self-bridging emergency contraceptive options. We propose the use of intramuscular Depot Medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) as EC, which has been shown to inhibit follicular activity within 24 hours, and provide on-going contraception via suppression or disruption of ovulation. Objective: The objective of this study is to explore the potential of depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) given as a 150-mg intramuscular injection for use as an emergency contraceptive. Study population: Healthy regularly menstruating women aged 18-39 years old will be invited to participate if they fulfill inclusion criteria. The participants will undergo a screening visit during the midluteal phase of their cycle, and will be enrolled if a serum progesterone level is \>3ng/ml. Methodology: Participants will be assigned to one of three groups based on leading follicle size. Starting cycle Day 8, transvaginal ultrasounds will be performed to assess the size of the leading follicle. Once the follicle has reached the pre-assigned size, 150 mg IM DMPA will be administered. Blood will be collected for baseline hormonal assays. For 5 consecutive days, daily blood will be drawn for hormonal assays and daily transvaginal ultrasound will be performed to assess for signs of ovulation. The participant will then return for twice weekly progesterone levels for 2 weeks for study completion.
NCT01635283
The primary purpose of this phase II clinical trial is to determine the safety and effect on survival of patients autologous dendritic cells pulsed with autologous tumor lysate as a treatment for low-grade glioma patients. Other goals of this study are to determine if the vaccine can cause an immune response against patients' cancer cells and slow the growth of their brain tumors
NCT00503581
This randomized phase II trial is studying how well megestrol works in treating patients with endometrial neoplasia or endometrial hyperplasia. Estrogen can cause the growth of endometrial cancer cells. Hormone therapy using megestrol may fight endometrial cancer by blocking the use of estrogen by the abnormal cells.
NCT00892203
This study will assess the efficacy and safety of BGG492 used to treat migraine pain.
NCT00704483
This study will evaluate the efficacy of SBR759 compared to sevelamer HCl in lowering serum phosphate levels in Chronic Kidney Disease patients on hemodialysis
NCT03697993
This is a Phase 4, multi-center, open-label, randomized pragmatic superiority clinical trial comparing two strategies for initial or step-down oral therapy for complicated urinary tract infections (cUTI) after 0-48 hours of parenteral antibiotic therapy. The trial will evaluate the success and safety of a strategy of initial or step-down fosfomycin, administered at a dose of 3 g once daily, vs. a strategy of initial or step-down levofloxacin administered at a dose of 750 mg once daily. Investigator-directed adjustment to another adequate oral therapy is allowed 1) if the causative pathogen is not susceptible in vitro to quinolone initial or step-down therapy in a subject randomized to the levofloxacin strategy, OR 2) if the subject develops an intolerance or allergy to the initial step-down oral therapy and at the investigator's discretion, OR 3) the subject has an underlying condition posing increasing risk for adverse events from quinolone therapy. The duration of oral therapy (initial + investigator-directed adjustment if indicated) in each strategy is 5-7 days of any per protocol antibiotic to which the pathogen is susceptible. The dosing of oral therapy depends on creatinine clearance (CrCl). The trial will enroll approximately 634 patients that are either male or female aged 18 or older with cUTI from outpatient and inpatient settings. The study will take place over 25 months in up to 15 US sites. The primary objective is to compare Strategy 1 and Strategy 2 in terms of treatment success rates at Test of Cure (TOC).
NCT01888874
Participants suffering from active rheumatoid arthritis despite continued treatment with methotrexate were evaluated for improvement of disease activity (efficacy) when taking GLPG0634 (3 different doses - 50 milligram \[mg\], 100 mg and 200 mg daily -, each evaluated as once daily \[QD\] and twice daily \[BID\] regimen) or matching placebo for 24 weeks. •During the course of the study, patients were also examined for any side effects that could occur (safety and tolerability), and the amount of GLPG0634 present in the blood (Pharmacokinetics) as well as the effects of GLPG0634 on disease- and mechanism of action-related parameters in the blood (Pharmacodynamics) were determined. Also, the effects of different doses and dose regiments of GLPG0634 administration on participants' disability, fatigue, and quality of life were evaluated.
