Radiotherapy always results in many complications such as radiation dermatitis,dry mouth, cranial nerve damage, and swallowing function. Among them,radiation dermatitis is confirmed to occur in the majority of tumor patientsreceiving radiotherapy, which not only affects the appearance but also causesthe interruption of radiotherapy in severe cases. At present, there is no standard treatment for radiation dermatitis. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) Spray is able to removefree radicals produced during radiotherapy, which may provide a new way andmethod for the prevention and treatment of radiation dermatitis. In addition,the product has obtained a safety assessment report from a third-party testingorganization, proving that it has fully met the applied human body standards. Introduction Radiation-induced dermatitis (RID), which includes both acute and chronic forms, affects up to 95% of patients undergoing radiation therapy. Despite its high incidence, there are currently no validated prevention and management recommendations specifically for the mexican population. Catechins, particularly epigallocatechin gallate and epicatechin, are emerging as a promising and readily accessible therapeutic option for radiation damage in skin and other organs, including conditions like esophagitis, intestinal injury, and mucositis. Objective This study aims to evaluate the utility of oral or topical catechins in preventing and managing acute and chronic radiation-induced dermatitis in cancer patients, comparing their effectiveness against standard treatment. Material and Methods This will be a randomized, double-blind, phase III clinical trial with a longitudinal and comparative design. Patients will be allocated into two primary study groups: prevention (n=81) and treatment (n=81). Each group will be further divided into four treatment arms: Epigallocatechin gallate (experimental aerosol) Epicatechin (experimental capsule) Saline control arm (aerosol) Microcrystalline cellulose excipient control arm (capsule) All participants across all groups will receive standard care. Study endpoints will include the assessment of utility, toxicity, quality of life, and cosmesis, using various validated scales and scores. Ethics This study adheres to the principles outlined in the Helsinki Declaration (2024), the Nuremberg Code, and Mexico's General Health Law on health research. Given the wide therapeutic margin of the interventions, the study is classified as minimal risk. Statistical Analysis To evaluate the efficacy of the intervention (specifically, the change in the risk of dermatitis and fibrosis), we will calculate the hazard ratio using Cox regression and compare it with the Log-Rank test. Additionally, both fixed and random effects models will be performed and compared using the likelihood ratio test.

This is a single site, randomized, open-label comparison pilot study to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of KeraStat Cream compared with routine skin care (RSC) in managing radiotherapy-induced early adverse skin reaction (EASR) in patients undergoing radiotherapy to the head and/or neck. Hypothesis: The use of KeraStat Cream in patients receiving radiotherapy for head and neck is feasible, tolerable, and reduces the severity of early adverse skin reaction in the treated region of interest.

The goal of this randomized trial is to investigate whether the addition of a reminder app to standard care leads to a reduction of dermatitis and oral mucositis during radio(chemo)therapy for locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head-and-neck (SCCHN). The primary endpoint is the rate of patients experiencing grade ≥2 radiation dermatitis at 60 Gy of radiotherapy. 80 patients are required per arm within the full analysis set. Taking into account that 5% of patients will not qualify for full analysis set, 168 patients should be randomized. If the addition of a reminder app to standard care will result in a significant reduction of radiation toxicity, it could become a helpful tool for these patients.

This is a phase IV, prospective, double-blind, randomized controlled trial with 2 study arms. The study population will be patients receiving chemoradiation for head and neck carcinomas, the majority of whom will be outpatients unless they require inpatient supportive care during treatment. There will be a 12 to 14-week longitudinal follow-up with 9 assessments conducted during this follow-up. The estimated duration of recruitment will be 6-8 years. Intervention group If a patient is allocated to the intervention group following randomization, the patient will be treated with StrataXRT. Control group If a patient is allocated to the control group following randomization, the patient will be treated with standard clinical practice which consists of aqueous cream.

The most common cancer affecting Canadian women is breast cancer, with an estimated 1 in 8 women expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. Improved screening and treatment have decreased mortality of breast cancer patients, however 14% of cancer-related deaths in Canadian women are still due to breast cancer. Common treatments for breast cancer include surgery, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and radiation therapy (RT). Despite recent improvements in treatment and preventative screenings, 20% of breast cancer patients will develop local disease recurrence or another ipsilateral primary breast cancer. . The optimal treatment of recurrent or new primary breast cancers for patients who have undergone prior radiotherapy (RT) is not well-defined. Common treatment approaches consist of mastectomy or a second breast conserving surgery (BCS) with whole or partial breast reirradiation (reRT). In the past, mastectomy has been the preferred treatment for recurrent breast cancer due to concerns over serious acute and late skin toxicities that may result from additional reRT. Many of these late skin toxicities, such as fibrosis, are chronic and can result in patients experiencing pain or other negative impacts to quality of life (QOL).

Nigella sativa is an herbal medicine whose anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities have been proven in several clinical trials. Thus, the aim of the present study is to evaluate the efficacy of Nigella sativa as a prophylactic method against the development of RID.

Routinely collected data on radiation-induced skin toxicity from 2010 to 2022 will be retrospectively analyzed. Data will be split into two cohorts: patients that received 1) StrataXRT and 2) standard of care. The incidence of grade ≥ 2 radiation dermatitis, the time to onset of grade ≥ 2 radiation dermatitis, the radiation dose at onset of grade ≥ 2 radiation dermatitis, the incidence of moist desquamation and the number of treatment interruptions will be compared between the cohorts.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether bacterial decolonization of the nares and skin, topical steroid therapy, or a combination of the two regimens prior to treatment with radiotherapy (RT) for breast and head and neck cancer patients can prevent grade 2 or higher grade radiation dermatitis (RD) graded via the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) scale and improve quality of life.

Breast cancer is the top one incidence of cancer in women. Whole breast radiation therapy plays an indispensable role in the course of breast cancer treatment, and the radiation dermatitis is the major side effect affected quality of life. Radiation dermatitis can be divided into acute and chronic. Severe acute radiation dermatitis affects the quality of life of patients during the course of treatment, and may cause treatment interruption and affect the efficacy. Chronic radiation dermatitis may cause irreversible skin problems, and lead to so-called "radiation-irritated skin" (radiation-irritated skin) seriously affects the quality of life of breast cancer patients after treatment. This study will enroll 30 breast cancer patients who received whole breast radiation therapy after breast conserving surgery. Subject will receive FR-101 chest dressing and be instructed to use the product on the target skin area accepted radiation therapy once every 2 days, taking care of avoiding applications from 1 to 4 h before treatment to prevent "Build-up" effect. Subjects will need to come back to clinics for assessment weekly during radiotherapy, 2 weeks after radiotherapy, and 6 weeks after radiotherapy. The evaluation includes physical examinations, questionnaire surveys, skin observation and measurements, and photographs. The total study time is at least 3 months. The target area of radiation-irritated skin condition will be observed and graded according to CTCAE rate. The skin physiological parameters will be detected by MoistureMeter SC, Vapometer, SkinColorCatch and HX-YL001 infrared thermometer. Statistical analysis of skin physiological parameters is used to evaluate the efficacy of FR-101 chest dressing on the prevention of acute radiation dermatitis after radiotherapy.

The objective of the pilot study is to determine compliance, acceptability, and feasibility of using topical sodium hypochlorite to ameliorate or reduce radiation dermatitis, and to collect preliminary data and estimates for planning a larger efficacy study. This 3-week single-arm pilot study will collect information on subject treatment compliance and feedback from subjects (and nurses/subject's treating oncologist) on the acceptability of the use of the treatment. We will also collect data on Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events and patient reported outcomes measured using the pain and pruritus PROMIS short-form tools and patient reported outcomes, measured using the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) tool.

The purpose of this study is to characterize the skin microbiome profile of breast cancer patients before and after receiving Radio Therapy treatments, and evaluate the relationship between the microbiome profile and radiation dermatitis severity (grade) that the patient will develop. Such characterizations can lead to potential biomarkers and/or therapeutic targets that can be used for the prognosis, prevention and treatment of this condition.

In patients undergoing adjuvant radiotherapy for breast cancer, radiation-induced skin toxicities are a common occurrence and adversely impact patients' quality of life (QOL). In the last decade, there have been no significant advances in preventing or treating radiation-induced skin toxicities. Recently, a phase III randomized trial by Herst et al. (n=78) in New Zealand showed that the prophylactic use of Mepitel Film reduced skin reaction severity by 92% compared to skin treated only with aqueous cream. Mepitel film has not been widely adopted in North America. To validate the efficacy of the film and guide the development of a larger multi-centre phase II study, a pilot study testing the efficacy of the film is proposed. In the study, 30 patients will have the film applied on their breast for the duration of radiation treatment and their skin reactions will be assessed throughout the treatment and after the treatment. The investigators hypothesize that the severity and incidence rates of skin reactions for patients using Mepitel film will be lower when compared to real world data from our centre, and that cosmetic outcomes will be improved with the film.

The aim of this study is to compare the effects of Medihoney and Hydrophor on radiation dermatitis reactions in a group of women undergoing radiation therapy for breast cancer. It is hoped that the outcome of this pilot study will provide evidence supporting the use of Medihoney in preventing and treating radiation dermatitis as well as sufficient preliminary data to expand this study to larger, federally funded research (R01) looking at the beneficial aspects of Medihoney across a spectrum of radiation dermatitis and mucositis in several disease settings.
