High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) is a type of oxygen therapy commonly used in adults with breathing problems. While HFNC can help patients avoid breathing tubes and improve oxygen levels, there is no standard method for deciding how and when to reduce and stop this therapy once a patient improves. In many hospitals, these decisions vary from clinician to clinician. This study will compare usual care with a standardized step-by-step plan for reducing HFNC support. Eight hospitals will participate and will switch from usual care to the standardized plan at different time points during the study. The main goal is to determine whether the standardized weaning plan increases the number of patients who can successfully stop HFNC within 5 days. The study will also evaluate how long patients remain on HFNC, whether they need additional breathing support, and how long they stay in the hospital. The results may help develop clearer guidance for safely and efficiently stopping HFNC therapy.

High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) therapy is widely used to treat acute respiratory failure. However, predicting therapy failure remains challenging as conventional indices rely on intermittent measurements and cannot provide continuous, objective monitoring. Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) enables non-invasive, real-time assessment of regional lung ventilation. This study evaluated whether an EIT-derived Flow Index (FI) could predict HFNC therapy failure within 48 hours.

The aim of the current study is to compare the incidence of oxygen desaturation in patients receiving HFNC at different flow rates compared to conventional oxygen therapy via a simple cannula during ERCP. Secondary outcomes include lowest average observed oxygen saturation (SpO2), snoring classification scores and satisfaction levels of both patients and gastroenterologists. Participants will be randomized to 3 groups: G0 will receive a 5 l/ min flow rate through a nasal cannula at and FiO2 of 40 %, G1 will receive a 15 l/ min flow rate and FiO2 of 40% and G2: will receive a 60L/min flow rate and FiO2 of 40%.

Patients at high risk of post-operative pulmonary complications (PPC) will be screened out from gynecological tumor patients undergoing surgical treatment, and randomly assigned into the HFNC group and control group, which uses conventional nasal cannula oxygen therapy. The primary outcome is the incidence of PPC, including postoperative hypoxemia, atelectasis, pneumonia, etc. Secondary outcomes are the improvement of postoperative oxygenation, antibiotic use, length of hospital stay, adverse events related to oxygen therapy, etc.

The study evaluated patients on the national lung transplant waiting list. It was pioneering in assessing high-complexity patients with severe pulmonary diseases subjected to a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation protocol using a treadmill. The main findings indicate that the distance covered in the six-minute walk test was greater when using the high-flow nasal cannula supplementation. The improvement in exercise performance in this group is associated with a reduction in arterial carbon dioxide, optimization of hydrogen potential, and a decrease in dynamic hyperinflation, leading to fewer symptoms of dyspnea.

This is a single center, retrospective, propensity score matching cohort study that explores the efficacy and safety of high flow nasal cannula and non-invasive ventilation in the treatment of acute respiratory failure associated with pulmonary arterial hypertension, stratified by the severity of right ventricular dysfunction. The study will compare two groups: high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and non-invasive ventilation (NIV). Main objective: heart function parameters (e.g. TAPSE and RVSP) Secondary objectives: respiratory support success rate (defined as the avoidance of endotracheal introduction or death duration hospitalization), respiratory support duration, length of intensive care unit (ICU) stay, length of hospital stay, and in-hospital mortality. This study addresses whether NIV or HFNC should be prioritized for the treatment of acute respiratory failure associated with pulmonary arterial hypertension in patients with severe right ventricular dysfunction who require high flow nasal cannula and non-invasive ventilation. This study is of great significance as it is based on a patient stratification method of right ventricular dysfunction severity to evaluate the effectiveness of HFNC treatment and NIV in PH related ARF patients.

The goal of this observational study is to identify the variables that predict treatment failure in order to identify the patients in which HFNC treatment may fail and not delay the transition to advanced respiratory support treatments in these patients. The main questions it aims to answer are: * What factors contribute to the failure of HFNC treatment in these children? * What is the frequency of HFNC treatment failure in children with moderate and severe respiratory distress? Researchers will compare the group whose HFNC treatment was successful with the group whose HFNC treatment failed to identify factors that cause treatment failure.

To test if high-flow conditioned oxygen therapy is noninferior to NIV for preventing postextubation respiratory failure and reintubation in patients with hypercapnic COPD, investigators plan to conduct the participants level, 1:1 randomized trial at the respiratory ICU. Participants were randomized to undergo either high-flow conditioned oxygen therapy or noninvasive mechanical ventilation after extubation. Primary outcomes were reintubation and postextubation respiratory failure within 72 hours. Secondary outcomes included length of RICU stay after extubation and mortality; partial pressure of arterial carbon dioxide.

Before going off to sleep patients are given oxygen to saturate blood with oxygen to extend time before a decrease in the level of oxygen in the blood occurs. During this period, obese patients have a faster decrease in the level of oxygen in their blood. This study uses a device called "high-flow nasal cannula" (HFNC), which delivers humidified high-flow oxygen through 2 small plastic tubes placed just inside nostrils. In the intensive care unit settings this device has been used extensively and has become a standard practice. Purpose of this study is to determine whether these high-flow nasal cannula increase the time safely when going to sleep during elective surgery.
