Recruitment of a carefully characterized cohort of chILD patients, to generate a database and biobank via collecting data on chILD in China. Importantly, compatibility with ongoing United States and Europe chILD data base developments will be factored in.
NCT05225428
The overall study objective of this trial study is to identify and evaluate strategies to improve the accessibility of the video education with result dependent disclosure (VERDI) model, increasingly utilized as a pre-genetic testing (pretest) education alternative in clinical practice, to better serve a more diverse patient population at risk for hereditary cancers.
NCT05360095
Advancements in prenatal genetic screening have significantly improved the identification of chromosomal abnormalities and heritable conditions during pregnancy, yet current standards for patient education in this domain are largely ineffective. The most effective approach to education about prenatal screening is one-on-one genetic counseling, but due to the limited number of counselors this is not feasible, especially in rural and frontier areas. The investigators will address this national problem using a novel education game that can more effectively address this gap in healthcare decision-making.
NCT07309835
A key aim of the nationally commissioned Genomic Medicine Service (GMS) in England is to encourage equity of access between different patient groups, however, there is evidence to suggest that it is being under-utilised by ethnic minority groups. The aim of this study is to explore how ethnic minority populations interact with the GMS and to identify changes that would promote equity within those services. This is a mixed-methods study using interviews and group discussions with lay people, community organisers and charity workers, people who have had direct or indirect contact with the genomic medicine service and professionals within the service. By including potential service users, service users and professionals in this work and allowing people to share their experiences in whatever method feels most comfortable to them, we aim to get a broad understanding of the lived experience of everyone involved in these pathways which will be key to gaining a holistic understanding of how they are working in real world settings. The primary outcome measure will be an increased understanding of the experiences of people from ethnic minority groups navigating the genomic medicine space. The secondary outcome measure will be an increased understanding of how experiences differ across and between ethnic groups. We intend to use our insights to recommend structural changes which will improve utilisation of the genomic medicine service by patients from ethnic minority groups.
NCT06073626
The goal of this observational study is to increase genetic education and genetic testing for hereditary cancer risk among Black cancer survivors. The study will: 1. Test the effectiveness of a chatbot intervention (also called relational agent, or RA) vs. enhanced usual care (EUC) on engagement in genetic education and requests for genetic testing. 2. Evaluate the impact of the chatbot vs. EUC on the process that participants use to make decisions and evaluate effects on well-being (also called psychosocial outcomes). 3. Explore the ways (methods) that influence how participants experience the intervention. 4. Explore the feasibility of incorporating a Family Sharing Portal (FSP) for participants who receive a positive test result, to facilitate family communication of these test results and genetic testing of first-degree biological relatives after they have received genetic education by the RA. The main questions this study aims to answer are which group - the chatbot (RA) group or the EUC group - is more likely to request genetic testing and which group is more likely to get (engage with) genetic education. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the chatbot (RA) group or EUC group. This means each participant has an equal chance of being placed in either group, just like flipping a coin. Each group will receive genetic education and have an opportunity to request genetic testing. Researchers will compare the chatbot (RA) group and the EUC group to see which may request more GT (genetic testing) and which group engages more with genetic education.
NCT05265624
The goals of this study are: To assess the impact of genetic testing for Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) on lifestyle behaviors as measured by systemic and ocular carotenoid status.
NCT04414748
This randomized trial aims to compare the euploid rate of blastocysts between PPOS and GnRH antagonist protocols in patients undergoing PGT-A. Infertile women who have medical indication for PGT-A will be recruited for study after explanation and counseling if they fulfill the inclusion criteria and do not have the exclusion criteria. Eligible women will be randomised into one of the two groups: Antagonist group: Women will receive antagonist once subcutaneously daily from day 6 of ovarian stimulation till the day of the ovulation trigger. PPOS group: Women will receive oral Duphaston 10mg bd from Day 3 till the day of ovulation trigger. The primary outcome is the euploidy rate of blastocysts.
NCT06335043
This study is an observational clinical trial aimed at to evaluate the use of pharmacogenetic testing (PGx) for mental health treatment in members and Veterans of the CAF and RCMP patient population as well as the attitudes of both St. Joseph's OSI Clinic Psychiatrists and patients towards PGx. Both OSI Clinic Psychiatrists participants and patient participants will be administered a brief demographic survey in addition to a survey examining their views on, and current knowledge of PGx. Patient participants will have an opportunity to opt-in to or opt-out of receiving PGx. For patient participants who opt-in to PGx (PGx-guided treatment group), a report summarizing the PGx results will be sent to each patient participants' respective OSI Clinic Psychiatrist, alongside a questionnaire that captures the OSI Clinic Psychiatrist participant's treatment planning and changes to treatment planning. Where applicable, past treatment data from patient participants acquired at the St. Joseph's OSI Clinic will be used to identify the number of prior medication changes. Patient participants who opt-out of PGx but continue to receive pharmacologic care at the St. Joseph's OSI Clinic will act as a standard care comparator treatment group. Patient participant's outcomes including PTSD, depression and anxiety severity, and medication-related side effects, will be assessed until the patient participant is discharged from the OSI Clinic or after 24 weeks, whichever comes first. All patient participants, regardless of their study treatment group, will have their symptomatology collected via standard care data collection protocol (Client Reported Outcomes Monitoring Information System (CROMIS) and electronic medical records (EMR)); a self-report assessing the presence of side effects will be completed via Lawson REDCap. OSI Clinic Psychiatrist participants and patient participants will be asked to complete a virtual exit interview at the end of their participation.
NCT04656028
To date, there are highly effective lipid-lowering drugs, the combination of which makes it possible to achieve the target level of LDL-C in most patients with familial hypercholesterolemia (FH). However, the effectiveness of treatment of FH patients strongly depends on adherence to lipid-lowering therapy and to the healthy lifestyle, as well as the detection of the disease and the therapy prescription as early as possible, better in childhood. The aim of the study is to assess the impact of genetic testing and motivational counseling on the effectiveness of treatment and cascade screening in patients with FH.
NCT06722313
The clinical practice of PGT-M for monogenetic disease usually adopted a double-checking strategy, which detect the mutation by Sanger sequencing and meantime construct haplotypes using the DNA sample of the proband so as to avoid the risks of misdiagnosis due to recombination and allele drop out (ADO). When there is no affected parent or offspring to serve as the proband, embryo carriers identified through direct mutation detection can be preferentially taken as probands for subsequent linkage analysis. In cases where none of the embryos are detected as mutant carrier, single sperm or the second polar body (PB2) can be complementally collected in the work-up of haplotype establishment. Our study aims to develop an optimized strategy of haplotype construction using gametes or arrested embryos for PGT-M in pedigrees with single gene diseases and no proband in the setting of difficult cases, which takes into account the expected number of oocytes acquired and the gonadal mosaicism.
NCT05159011
AGILITY is a type 1 hybrid trial that will test the effectiveness of a chatbot to provide pre-test information about genetic screening for tier 1 conditions. A randomized control trial of 2400 adult participants from diverse primary care clinics at the University of Florida Gainesville to receive virtual information about tier 1 condition genetic testing from a chatbot or traditional genetic counseling. The assessment of the outcome of the trial is to determine whether the chatbot is inferior to genetic counseling. Non-inferiority will be determined based on informed choice to undergo testing (or not). Implementation outcomes of acceptability, feasibility, and appropriateness will be evaluated to inform future potential through interviews with patients, primary care providers and GCs.
NCT04704193
An electronic decision aid will be used to assist individuals in choosing a multi-gene panel with their medical oncologist instead of a genetic counselor. A decision aid may facilitate quality decisions around the selection of a specific multi-gene panel without a genetic counselor. Upon completion of the decision aid, participants will be asked to indicate their decision about whether to pursue genetic testing and which specific multi-gene panel to pursue. A survey will then be administered to assess participants' opinions on the decision aid.
NCT03468309
Use of polypharmacy has significantly increased over the past two decades, which has unproven clinical benefit and is associate with an increased the risk of adverse side effects. Pharmacogenetic assays, such as the Genecept® Assay, have the purported benefit of being able to predict response(s) to specific medication based on genetic markers. Thus, this study is a 12-week open-label, naturalistic study of the provision of pharmacogenetic testing and a computerized decision tool for providers to determine the potential efficacy of the assay to reduce polypharmacy and improve patient outcomes.
NCT05545254
This was a cross-seThis was a cross-sectional study, which aimed to describe the health-promoting lifestyle of breast cancer patients and family members in a Chinese genetic counseling clinic, and to explore its various levels with different socio-economic variables. 259 patients conformed to the inclusion and exclusion criteria were enrolled. Participants were sent a questionnaire web-link to be invited to finish this survey. 140 participants were finally included in this study. Finally, a good level of health-promoting lifestyle of breast cancer patients and family members was acquired. More education and intervention should be tailored to enhance and encourage health-promoting lifestyle behaviors in participants with low monthly family income. Additionally, developing nutritional curriculum and strengthening the publicity of nutritional popular science were priorities in the future improvement measures.ctional study
NCT04971902
Pharmacist-led pharmacogenomics (PGx) clinical services and medication safety reviews are currently being offered to PACE organizations under the direction of licensed healthcare prescribers by CareKinesis d/b/a Tabula Rasa HealthCare. This project aims to include patients enrolled in PACE organizations with chronic pain and who are prescribed CYP2D6 activated opioids. PGx testing will be performed by contractual PGx vendor with TRHC. PGx results will be integrated into TRHC's proprietary Clinical Decision Support System (Medication Risk Mitigation™ Matrix, CareKinesis, Moorestown, NJ) that guides pharmacists to identify drug-drug interactions (DDIs), drug-gene interactions (DGIs), and drug-drug-gene interactions (DDGIs).16 Clinical pharmacists will translate PGx results combined with a comprehensive DDI review into actionable clinical decisions. Clinical pharmacists will provide medication therapy management recommendation to address medication problems to the PACE prescriber (physician). PACE prescribers will review the pharmacist's recommendation, and based on their clinical assessment, the prescriber will decide whether or not to implement the opioid therapy recommendation.
NCT01736345
The overall goal of the proposed research is to evaluate psychosocial and behavioral outcomes (i.e.risks and benefits) of an innovative and efficient delivery model for genetic testing, telephone communication, as an alternative to in-person communication of genetic testing results to inform guidelines regarding the delivery of genetic information in clinical medicine.
NCT03988504
