This study is the second clinical trial to be conducted by the Menopause Strategies - Finding Lasting Answers for Symptoms and Health (MsFLASH) research network, a group of investigators conducting clinical trials designed to find new ways to alleviate the most common, bothersome symptoms of the menopausal transition. In this twelve-week clinical trial, 374 women aged 40-62 who are in the late menopausal transition or postmenopausal and experiencing bothersome hot flashes will be randomized to one of three behavioral intervention groups: yoga, exercise, or usual activity. All women will simultaneously be randomized to receive omega-3 supplementation or a matching placebo. The primary aims of this trial are to compare the magnitude of changes in perceived, self-reported frequency and bother of vasomotor symptoms (VMS) before and after the intervention between yoga and the usual activity comparison group, between exercise and the usual activity comparison group, and between omega-3 fatty acid supplementation or placebo. The hypotheses to be tested are: 1. Women assigned to yoga will report lower frequency and less VMS bother than women assigned to the usual activity group at the end of a 12-week study period. 2. Women assigned to aerobic exercise at moderate-vigorous intensity will report lower frequency and less VMS bother than women assigned to the usual activity group at the end of a 12-week study period. 3. Women assigned to omega-3 fatty acid supplementation will report lower frequency and less VMS bother than women assigned to the placebo group at the end of a 12-week study period. The omega-3 component of the study is double-blinded. For yoga, exercise, and usual activity, the outcomes assessors are blinded to the randomization assignments.

This study will investigate the efficacy of weekly intravenous obinutuzumab \[GA101 (RO5072759)\] monotherapy, in patients with relapsed CD20+ indolent Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Patients will be randomized to receive either GA101 or rituximab, given as four weekly infusions. At the conclusion of the initial trial patients may be eligible to continue therapy up to 24 months. The anticipated time on study treatment is 3- 24 months, and the target sample size is 100-500 individuals.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, including emphysema and chronic bronchitis, is the fourth most common cause of death and the second leading cause of disability in the United States. COPD is estimated to be responsible for more than 13.4 million physician visits and 13% of hospitalizations nationally. These hospitalizations are usually caused by acute exacerbations characterized by an increase in symptoms including dyspnea or shortness of breath (SOB), cough, wheezing, and sputum production. The significant disability for people with COPD is primarily due to the symptom of dyspnea (shortness of breath) that affects an individual's quality of life more than does the physiological impairment. Despite optimal medical and pharmacological therapy, most people with COPD continue to suffer from chronic and progressive dyspnea and other symptoms of cough and fatigue. We have previously shown that an individualized face-to-face dyspnea self-management program was effective in improving dyspnea with activities of daily living (ADL), physical functioning, and self-efficacy for managing dyspnea. The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of AZD6244 (ARRY-142886)versus capecitabine in patients with advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer who have failed first-line therapy with gemcitabine. Following baseline assessments, a minimum of 64 patients in approximately 5-6 centers from the US will be treated with either AZD6244 or capecitabine. Treatment will be continued for as long as the patients receive clinical benefit. The status of all patients will be checked (whether they are still taking treatment or not) approximately 3 months after the last patient has entered the study.

We are conducting a study to evaluate two investigational devices that may help us better monitor discomfort or pain in anesthetized patients during minimally invasive lung surgery. We want to collect information on how people respond to pain related to their surgery. Currently, we use blood pressure (BP) and heart rate (HR) to check the response to pain. In this study, we will also use two devices called the Medasense PMD-100 and PhysioDoloris monitors to look at measurements of pain. We will compare the measurements from the study devices to the measurements of heart rate and blood pressure. We hope to enroll about 40 subjects in this study at the University of Washington Medical Center.

In the core study, participants with unresectable or metastatic gastrointestinal stromal tumors expressing c-kit were treated with either 400 mg or 600 mg imatinib mesylate for 3 years. The Zilver® PTX™ Drug Eluting Vascular Stent is indicated for the treatment of symptomatic vascular disease of the above-the-knee femoropopliteal artery (ranging from 4 mm to 9 mm in reference vessel diameter) for lesions up to 7 cm long. The clinical trial is stratified by lesion length. The trial will be conducted in 2 phases, with Phase 1 enrolling patients with lesions less than 7 cm long. Phase 2 of the trial will include longer lesions (up to 14 cm long) and will be initiated upon approval by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as doxorubicin hydrochloride and trabectedin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. It is not yet known whether trabectedin is more effective than doxorubicin hydrochloride in treating patients with advanced or metastatic soft tissue sarcoma. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II/III trial is studying the safety of trabectedin compared with doxorubicin hydrochloride and to see how well they work in treating patients with advanced or metastatic soft tissue sarcoma.
