NCT01503021
The purpose of the parent study is to assess the short-term safety and tolerability of soluble ferric pyrophosphate (SFP) in dialysate administered to a large number of representative adult chronic kidney disease patients on hemodialysis (CKD-HD). The purpose of the extension study is to assess the long-term safety and tolerability of SFP.
NCT00765817
This study will compare the efficacy and safety of exenatide versus placebo in adults whose diabetes is not fully controlled by insulin glargine with or without metformin and/or pioglitazone.
NCT01136772
The purpose of this research study is to compare the "real-world" effectiveness of two FDA-approved and widely used long-acting injectable antipsychotic medications (paliperidone palmitate and haloperidol decanoate) in patients with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder who are expected to benefit from the improved medication compliance associated with injectable medications. The goal is to evaluate the effects of the medications on outcomes of importance to patients (relapse, symptoms, adverse effects, functioning) as well as policy makers (all of the above plus costs).
NCT01414153
The purpose of the study is to determine the safety and efficacy of 4 monthly injections of iSONEP given alone or in combination with Lucentis, Avastin or Eylea in subjects with wet Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). iSONEP not only has an anti-permeability effect, but also has anti-angiogenic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fibrotic properties. The drug may therefore have the ability to achieve better visual outcomes than Lucentis, Avastin or Eylea, particularly in those subjects who do not demonstrate a robust response to Lucentis, Avastin or Eylea after several monthly injections. Further, the combination of Lucentis, Avastin or Eylea and iSONEP may be additive or synergistic. By inhibiting the multiple mechanisms that contribute to exudative-AMD-related vision loss, better visual outcomes may be possible than with Lucentis, Avastin or Eylea alone.
NCT01419197
This randomized, multicenter, 2-arm, open-label study (TH3RESA) will evaluate the efficacy and safety of trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1) in comparison with treatment of the physician's choice in participants with metastatic or unresectable locally advanced/recurrent human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer. Eligible participants will be randomized to receive either trastuzumab emtansine 3.6 mg/kg intravenously every 21 days or treatment of the physician's choice. Participants continue to receive study treatment until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity occurs. This study is also known under Roche study protocol number BO25734.
NCT00852995
This is a 16-week study for subjects with a venous leg ulcer between the knee and ankle. This research is being done to determine the effectiveness of two dosing frequencies and two different concentrations of HP802-247, together with standard care, compared to placebo, plus standard care.
NCT01910155
The objective of this study is to compare the relative efficacy and safety of the test formulation of ciprofloxacin 0.3%/dexamethasone 0.1% sterile otic suspension (Par Pharmaceutical Companies, Inc.) to the already-marketed formulation CIPRODEX® (ciprofloxacin 0.3%/dexamethasone 0.1%) sterile otic suspension (Alcon) in the treatment of acute bacterial otitis externa.
NCT00354536
This study is a placebo-controlled study in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus to assess safety and tolerability parameters, the levels of GSK716155 in the bloodstream when it is given at the same dose 7 days apart, and the impact this medication has on various substances in the blood. Assessments include ECGs, vital signs, repeat blood sampling and monitoring of any side effects.
NCT01484652
The primary objective of this study is to show the effectiveness of repeated doses of COV795 versus placebo, using the summed pain intensity difference over the first 48 hours in subjects with acute moderate to severe pain following bunionectomy.
NCT00221000
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune inflammatory disorder that can cause substantial pain and joint tenderness, significant joint damage, and serious disability. The treatment goals are minimization of the signs and symptoms of the disease, and the reduction of irreversible joint damage. As the understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying RA is elucidated, the opportunity to target specific inflammatory processes with new therapies has improved. Rheumatoid arthritis is a T cell-mediated autoimmune disease and there are various therapies, including newer experimental therapies, which target either the activation of T cells or the neutralization of their effector mechanisms. These newer therapies have shown benefit in human and animal models of RA. Extracorporeal photoimmune therapy (ECP) has been shown to be safe and effective in the palliative treatment of the skin manifestations of cutaneous T cell lymphoma. Experimental studies have also demonstrated activity of ECP treatment in several T cell mediated diseases including graft versus-host disease, rejection after organ transplantation, and selected autoimmune diseases. This study will evaluate a cell-based therapy (ECP) in patients who have an inadequate response to disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) and biological agents to determine if ECP treatment can reduce the signs and symptoms of RA in this refractory patient population.
NCT02572986
Scabies is an infestation of the skin by the human itch mite (Sarcoptes scabiei). Diagnosis of scabies is made based on clinical symptoms, such as nocturnal itching, and appearance and distribution of the rash. Definitive diagnosis includes the microscopic identification of the mite, mite eggs, or mite fecal matter in the skin. Topical permethrin is considered the drug of choice for the treatment of scabies. It is a synthetic pyrethroid that is safe for use in adults and children 2 months and older. This study will evaluate the therapeutic equivalence of a generic permethrin cream 5% to Elimite® in the Treatment of Scabies.
NCT02353182
Animal studies suggest general anaesthetics harm the developing brain. It is unclear if these findings are relevant to humans but the issue has become a major concern. Recent data have found that monkeys exposed to anaesthesia as infants grow up to have slower learning than those not exposed. The aim of the TREX pilot study is to determine the feasibility of an alternative anaesthetic regimen for lower abdominal/lower extremity surgery in infants 1-12 months of age.
NCT02490202
Safety and efficacy study of SANGUINATE on reduction of delayed graft function (DGF) in patients who will be recipients of a donation after brain death (DBD) donor kidney.
NCT00564486
This research study will look at the pain relieving ability and safety of using repeated doses of intravenous (into the vein \[IV\]) acetaminophen in the treatment of moderate postoperative pain after planned or elective abdominal laparoscopic surgery, such as a laparoscopic abdominal hysterectomy or laparoscopic cholecystectomy (removal of the gall bladder).
NCT00399568
This study will be investigating the efficacy and safety administration of multiple doses of intravenous (IV) acetaminophen (IVAPAP) in the 48 hour period following Gynecologic Surgery.
NCT00744497
The purpose of this study is to determine whether survival can be prolonged in patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer who receive dasatinib with docetaxel and prednisone.
NCT00858871
The purpose of this study is to compare the overall survival of brivanib versus sorafenib in subjects with advanced HCC who have not received prior systemic therapy.
NCT00920946
The purpose of this study is to determine if Dimebon is safe and effective for the treatment of cognitive impairment in Huntington disease.
NCT02454283
LGN-VN-003 is a prospective, multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a single oral dose of vanoxerine for the conversion of subjects with recent onset atrial fibrillation (AF) or atrial flutter (AFL) to normal sinus rhythm. Up to 625 subjects will be randomized in a 2:1 fashion so at least 400 vanoxerine and 200 placebo subjects receive study drug.
NCT01506726
The purpose of this study is to determine whether treatment of unexplained anemia in older adults and elevated inflammatory markers with oral salsalate can improve hemoglobin levels and improve physical activity and quality of life.
