NCT00639418
The purpose of this study is to describe flu vaccine coverage in children under 18 years of age and to examine correlations between in-office flu vaccine coverage and the use of various tactics to increase vaccine coverage.
NCT00371189
Malaria is caused by a parasite carried by a mosquito. Currently, there is no vaccine licensed to prevent malaria. The purpose of this study is to find the most effective and safest dose of an experimental vaccine for the treatment of malaria. Participants will include 72 healthy adults, ages18 to 45, enrolled at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Stanford University. Volunteers will receive 3 doses of either the malaria vaccine or placebo (contains no vaccine) by injection into a muscle at 0, 1 and 6 months. Investigators will evaluate how the body responds to increasing dosage strengths of the vaccine. Study procedures include physical exam, multiple blood draws, and completion of a memory aid (diary). Each participant will be actively involved in the study for about 12 months. Then, an annual phone call will be made to check for any serious illness events for a period of 5 years.
NCT00106496
The purpose of the study is to determine the impact of topical corticosteroids on the safety and effectiveness of Protopic Ointment in the short-term treatment of moderate to severe Atopic Dermatitis and to compare the safety and effectiveness of Protopic Ointment to placebo in the long-term management of Atopic Dermatitis
NCT00333112
A study to evaluate solifenacin succinate in combination with tamsulosin for the treatment of residual OAB symptoms in men.
NCT00454740
To evaluate the efficacy of 5 and10mg solifenacin succinate in patients with urgency who have OAB syndrome (urgency, with or without urge incontinence, usually with frequency and nocturia) and wish to switch from tolterodine tartrate extended release to solifenacin succinate due to lack of sufficient improvement in urgency episodes
NCT00106288
The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy and safety of micafungin (FK463) versus liposomal amphotericin B (AmBisome) in treating neutropenic and non-neutropenic patients with confirmed invasive candidiasis or candidemia. Enrollment will include adult and pediatric patients.
NCT00106899
The purpose of this study is to examine how brain imaging technology can be used with other tests to measure the progression of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and early Alzheimer's disease (AD). This information will aid future clinical trials by providing a standard assessment tool to measure the effects of treatments being studied.
NCT00546767
The purpose of this study is to evaluate three methods of performing home-based assessments in Alzheimer's Disease (AD) prevention trials. The initial in-person assessment will be done in the clinic or at home.
NCT01555164
This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, multicenter study to determine the effect of ranolazine when added to metformin on glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who are inadequately controlled despite current treatment with stable metformin therapy in addition to diet and exercise.
NCT00667056
A study of subjects with a known nickel allergy comparing Tacrolimus to placebo, both associated with nickel patches to determine the safety and efficacy of treating Chronic Allergic Contact Dermatitis with Tacrolimus Ointment
NCT01419171
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the OMEGA Coronary Stent System for the treatment of subjects with a de novo atherosclerotic coronary artery lesion.
NCT00074737
The principal goal of this clinical trial is to assess the ability of cenersen sodium (EL625) to improve cancer responsiveness to the established AML therapeutic agent Idarubicin used alone or in combination with Cytarabine (Ara-C). Cenersen sodium is a drug that is designed to block the effects of a protein called p53. Laboratory evidence shows that blocking p53 will make many types of cancer, including acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), more sensitive to a variety of established cancer therapeutics while making normal tissues more resistant to the toxic effects of these agents.
NCT00134680
The purpose of the study is to investigate the effects (good and bad) that the combination of the drugs letrozole (also called Femara™) and trastuzumab (also called Herceptin®) has on breast cancer. The United States (US) Food and Drug Administration has approved both letrozole and Herceptin for the treatment of advanced breast cancer. Doctors hope that the combination will work better than either drug alone.
NCT00687934
An open-label dose escalation study of patients with solid tumors treated with STA-9090 (ganetespib)
NCT00406107
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of intravitreal injections of Macugen every 6 weeks for the treatment of macular edema secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). We hypothesize that macular edema secondary to BRVO is mediated by VEGF 165 and that chronic suppression of VEGF 165 will successfully treat BRVO related macular edema.
NCT00290290
Most cases of infection of clean-contaminated wounds (wounds without gross spillage of organisms from the gastrointestinal tract) are thought to originate from the skin. Therefore, it is conceivable that application of an optimal antiseptic agent can reduce the rate of surgical wound infections. This trial is to compare the impact of disinfecting the skin with Chloraprep (2%chlorhexidine and 70% isopropyl alcohol) vs. Betadine on the rates of infection of clean-contaminated surgical wounds. The study will also assess the occurrence of adverse effects on the skin from either antiseptic agent and the cost-savings associated with the use of Chloraprep vs Betadine.
NCT00687349
This research study is a randomized trial to evaluate a training program that is designed to improve the communication skills of clinicians. The training program focuses on care for patients with serious illnesses and their family members, and assesses effectiveness using patient and family outcomes. The long term goal of this research is to improve communication skills of doctors and nurses, thereby improving patient and family outcomes.
NCT00688116
NCT00516243
This randomized phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of defined green tea catechin extract in treating women with hormone receptor-negative stage I-III breast cancer. Green tea extract contains ingredients that may prevent or slow the growth of breast cancer.
NCT01495832
The Canadian population, as is the case in most developed countries, is ageing and becoming increasingly overweight and/or obese. Both ageing and obesity are associated with reduced cognitive performance which can impact adversely on the ability to undertake daily activities and increases the risk of loss of independent living and reduced quality of life. The investigators predict that consumption of ½ cup of pulses per day for 12 weeks will improve cognitive function in older overweight/obese adults and thus decrease the rate of cognitive decline that occurs in this at-risk population.
