NCT00592540
Phosphoglycerate kinase (PGK) deficiency is a rare x-linked disorder characterized by hemolytic anemia, seizures, muscle fatigue, and progressive neurological dysfunction. The disease is caused by the deficiency of PGK, an enzyme required for ATP formation through the glycolytic pathway. PGK is an enzyme that is ubiquitous to all cells of the human body, but red blood cells, muscles, and nerve cells are most severely affected by the absence of PGK due to their reliance upon the glycolytic pathway. Mutations of the PGK gene are highly variable and result in diverse phenotypes, ranging from mild hemolytic anemia only to severe mental retardation and early death in childhood. The more severe phenotypes show progressive neurologic deterioration between infancy and adolescence. This is a 2 patient study aimed at studying the role of stem cell transplant in PGK deficiency. Because the disease is so rare, the study will be limited to the 2 sibling patients followed by our group, though it would be open to other participants who would meet inclusion/exclusion criteria if such presented to us. The objective of this study is to evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of stem cell transplants to treat patients with PGK deficiency, Amiens subtype.
NCT00517829

NCT01896297
The goal of this study is to assess dabigatran pharmacokinetics in NVAF subjects with severe renal impairment defined as creatinine clearance between 15 and 30 mL/min calculated by Cockcroft-Gault formula. The dabigatran etexilate dose of 75 mg BID was approved by the FDA for NVAF patients with severe renal impairment (CrCl 15-30 mL/min) , based on pharmacokinetic modeling and simulation.
NCT02473510
This prospective annual release study is designed to evaluate the safety of 3 new influenza virus vaccine strains to be included in FluMist Quadrivalent for the 2015-2016 influenza season
NCT02116712
Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare lung disease that mostly affects women of childbearing age. In LAM, abnormal, muscle-like cells begin to grow out of control in the lungs. As a result, air can't move freely in and out of the lungs. In some cases, this means the lungs can't supply the body's other organs with enough oxygen. This study is being conducted to find out what dose of a drug called saracatinib is best tolerated by people with LAM. This drug has been tested in patients with certain types of cancer but is not currently approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Saracatinib may work in cancer by preventing the growth, movement and invasiveness of cancer cells. The use of saracatinib to treat LAM is considered experimental. Preliminary testing already completed suggests that the study drug, saracatinib, may suppress certain substances in the lungs of patients with LAM thus may be effective in slowing down the disease process
NCT01537133
There are new, very sensitive methods for detecting bacteria. These methods show that hundreds of millions of microbes (organisms that can only be seen with microscopes), especially bacteria, live in healthy people. The collection of different microbes found in a site is called a "microbiome." The investigators know that microbiomes of the skin, sinuses, mouth, gastro-intestinal tract, etc. differ from each other. The make-up of the microbiome - which bacteria are found in a site - may be necessary for good health. For example, the microbiome of the mouth is different in people with inflammation of the gums (periodontitis), and the microbiome of the bowel is different in people with inflammation of the intestinal tract (inflammatory bowel disease). The purpose of this research study is to find out if the microbiome in the lungs is different in healthy people without asthma compared to people with asthma. This study will also find out if the microbiome of the lungs changes when people with asthma take a daily "controller" medication called an inhaled corticosteroid.
NCT01233258
The objective of the trial is to demonstrate that 2-3 times per week prophylaxis therapy with BAY81-8973 is superior to on-demand therapy with BAY81-8973 in patients with severe Hemophilia A. The hypothesis is that prophylaxis will result in fewer bleeds than on-demand treatment.
NCT02117414
The purpose of the Evera MRI™ study is to confirm safety and efficacy of the Evera MRI ICD (Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator) System in the clinical MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) environment when subjects receive MRI scans without positioning restrictions (MRI scans may occur anywhere on the body).
NCT01567150
This study is being conducted to characterize the way leg wounds respond to a new type of wound dressing, compared to wounds in patients who are not using the new dressing. The investigators will collect wound fluid for biochemical analysis, and they will measure the wound healing that occurs with and without the new dressing.
NCT01899092
The study is a first in man, dose escalation study that will measure the safety and efficacy of TT-034 in the treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis C. The study is divided into 5 dose levels. Subjects will be given a single dose delivered by IV infusion. The subjects will be monitored and the data analyzed. After a set time, between 6 and 10 weeks depending on the dose level, the next set of subjects will be dosed. The study drug is a gene therapy treatment that produces molecules that destroy the Hepatitis C virus (HCV) in infected cells. Once the study drug is given, it cannot be withdrawn. Additionally, once an individual receives a dose, he or she will not be able to receive a second dose, but will remain eligible to receive most other HCV treatments.
NCT01043523
Medical records are reviewed to obtain information about the use of a MRI diagnostic imaging agent (contrast agent) called Primovist/Eovist in children older than 2 months and less than 18 years. Data that has been recorded in the child's medical records relating to the injection of Primovist/Eovist will be collected. Information will be collected from up to 2 weeks before the child received Primovist/Eovist until 12 months after the child received Primovist/Eovist. Copy of the child's MR images that were taken right before and after the child received Primovist/Eovist and all other reports (laboratory reports, other imaging reports, etc) that are part of the child's medical records during that time period will be collected.
