NCT01007942
This phase III, double-blind, placebo-controlled multinational study will assess the combination everolimus, vinorelbine, and trastuzumab compared to the combination vinorelbine and trastuzumab with respect to progressive-free survival and over survival in HER2/neu positive women with locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer who are resistant to trastuzumab and have been pre-treated with a taxane.
NCT00525083
Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the single leading cause of death in the United States . Serum Cholesterol is known to have a direct impact on a number of human diseases through a variety of mechanisms. This is particularly true of cardiovascular disease. Measurement and manipulation of serum cholesterol has become a primary focus of primary care physicians and cardiologists when attempting to reduce risk of heart disease.
NCT00581490
Children with premature pubarche will have radiological and radial artery tonometry evidence of cardiovascular morbidity at diagnosis when compared to matched controls.
NCT00954564
RATIONALE: Gathering information over time about joint pain and stiffness from postmenopausal women with early-stage breast cancer who are receiving aromatase inhibitors may help doctors plan treatment and help patients live more comfortably. PURPOSE: This observational epidemiologic cohort is designed to study arthralgia, patient-reported outcomes, and medication adherence in postmenopausal women with early-stage breast cancer who are receiving aromatase inhibitors.
NCT01796951
Regular aspirin use has been associated with a reduction in the development of a number of different malignancies including lung cancer. The mechanism of aspirin's cancer prevention is not known. This study will evaluate whether once daily aspirin use can reduce the production of a protein named prostaglandin E2 (PGE-2), which is known to promote cancer. Specifically, this study will evaluate if aspirin can inhibit the production of PGE-2 by blocking an enzyme named cycloxygenase-2 (COX-2). To accomplish these goals, participants will take either aspirin 325 mg daily, celecoxib 200 mg twice daily, or the combination of both during various days of this 16-day study. Urine be collected to evaluate for PGE-2 production at 4 timepoints in this 16-day study.
NCT01759511
The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the long term safety and tolerability of simtuzumab (GS-6624) in participants with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) who had previously participated in Gilead clinical trial AB0024-201.
NCT01223872
This two-part research study will compare childhood cancer survivors receiving specialized follow-up care in the REACH for Survivorship clinic to patients receiving routine follow-up care.
NCT02186223
The primary objective of this multicenter, prospective, single arm clinical trial is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Angel® Catheter in subjects at high risk of PE, and with recognized contraindications to standard pharmacological therapy (anticoagulation).
NCT01194323
GERD is a common condition in the western world. In most cases, the diagnostic is established by good response to empiric proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy. When the patient symptoms are refractory to therapy, multiple invasive tests are available. The results of those tests (EGD, manometry, Ph monitoring and impedance) are clues that the physician use together to establish the diagnostic. No test however can be use alone because of their poor specificity and sensitivity. Recently, microscopy has been used to detect dilated intercellular space in between distal esophageal cells tissue; unfortunately this marker again failed to diagnose GERD. In search of more sensitive and specific markers of GERD, we propose to assess if acid exposure affects: 1) gene and proteins expression in the esophageal/post-cricoid area tissue; and 2) local impedance of the mucosa. The secondary aim of this proposal is to determine if correlation exists between the two approaches.
NCT01043042
Both hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia can be detrimental to hospitalized patients. However, it is not clear which patients are more likely to develop significant problems with hypoglycemia or severe hyperglycemia in the hospital. Our hypothesis is that we will be able to identify risk factors present at admission that identify patients at greater risk of poor inpatient glycemic control
NCT00178880
The purpose of the study is to identify and understand patterns of brain activity when people are depressed. The study will use an imaging method called Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) which does not involve any exposure to radioactivity or radioactive substances.
NCT01666119
This is an open label study in opioid dependent subjects maintained on a stabilized dose of Suboxone tablets or films. The purpose is to assess the safety and tolerability of BEMA Buprenorphine NX administered once daily for 12 weeks to opioid dependent subjects stabilized on Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) tablets or films. Eligible subjects will be converted to an approximately equal dose of BEMA Buprenorphine NX. This dose will be taken throughout the 12-week treatment period with dose adjustments as clinically indicated for either the control of opioid dependence or adverse events (AEs).
NCT00494676
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the functional utility for general mobility (walking) of new high power permanent peripheral prism glasses, which provide visual field expansion device for patients with homonymous hemianopia (the complete loss of half the field of vision on the same side in both eyes). The efficacy of real peripheral prism glasses will be assessed relative to sham peripheral prism glasses.
NCT01571362
The primary objective of the study is to determine the analgesic efficacy and safety of ALO-02 extended-release capsules, when compared to placebo, in subjects with moderate to severe chronic low back pain.
NCT02159040
The primary objective of the study is to compare the overall response rate (inclusive of complete response, partial response and hematologic improvement) per IWG 2006 criteria in patients with higher risk MDS treated with azacitidine with or without deferasirox achieved over the course of one year. Hematologic improvement must be maintained for at least 8 weeks.
NCT00161733
The objective of this study is to demonstrate equivalent hemostatic efficacy and safety between FS VH S/D and TISSEEL VH fibrin sealant in subjects undergoing cardiac surgery requiring cardiopulmonary bypass. If bleeding is still present after conventional surgical methods to achieve hemostasis have been applied FS VH S/D or Tisseel VH are applied. Achievement of hemostasis within 5 minutes is compared between the study groups.
NCT01973192
The purpose of this study is to test the hypothesis that early viral infections alter the bacterial flora and inflammatory profile in the airway and accelerate progression of pulmonary disease in infants with cystic fibrosis.
NCT00097448
This trial aims to compare the efficacy of oral prednisone vs. methylprednisolone injected into the middle ear for the treatment of moderate-to-severe, sudden sensorineural hearing loss (inner ear hearing loss affecting one ear that occurs over less than 72 hours).
NCT01402986
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the addition of tralokinumab to standard asthma medication is effective in the treatment of adults with asthma.
NCT02693275
This study is being conducted to create a database for the Quotient® System iPad Test. Using community sampling, NCS Pearson will compile the results of this study to create a database against which the results of clinical Quotient tests may be compared to determine patient performance relative to the expected results for developmental age and gender.
