NCT00071916
The purpose of this study is to evaluate a group of African Americans and Caucasians with hepatitis C virus (HCV), compare their response rates to combination treatment with pegylated interferon alfa-2b and ribavirin, and identify possible causes for racial differences in response to therapy. The study will enroll a total of 260 participants, age 18 or older, over a 10 period. In the next 5 years 132 subjects will be studied locally, including 112 African Americans and 20 Caucasians. Participants will be recruited from the clinical practices of the hepatologists (liver doctors) at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and will also be selected from referrals at local hepatology clinics and the Memphis VA Hospital. Volunteers will be treated with pegylated interferon alfa-2b injections once weekly and oral ribavirin 2 times a day for up to 72 weeks. Study procedures include multiple blood draws. Participants may be involved in study related procedures for up to 72 weeks.
NCT00500617
The PREDICT study is to develop and validate a diagnostic blood ASGES (age, sex, gene expression score) or Corus CAD for atherosclerotic coronary artery disease (CAD). The Corus CAD (Age/Sex/Gene Expression score - ASGES) will use quantitative real-time PCR (RT-PCR) to quantify the expression of multiple genes from circulating peripheral blood cells to assess the presence of clinically significant CAD in a patient.
NCT00303979
The purpose of this study is to characterize current management of patients with either heart failure or prior myocardial infarction and left ventricular dysfunction and to assess the effect of education, specific clinical guidelines, reminder systems, comprehensive disease state management tools, benchmarked quality reports, and academic detailing on the use of evidence-based heart failure therapies in cardiology practices. This study is a quality improvement initiative that is being conducted through review of patient records.
NCT00302718
The purpose of this study was to determine whether financial incentives for guideline-recommended treatment of hypertension are effective. We hypothesized that patients with hypertension cared for by physicians or practice groups receiving financial incentives were more likely to be prescribed guideline-recommended anti-hypertensive medications and achieve Joint National Commission (JNC) 7 guideline-recommended blood pressure goals compared to patients who were treated by providers that did not receive financial incentives.
NCT01305525
This is a prospective non-interventional 24 month post implant registry. Any patient that receives a St. Jude Medical FDA approved implantable neuromodulation system is eligible for enrollment. A minimum of 600 patients will be enrolled from a minimum of 30 sites. Patients will be enrolled post-implant and followed for 24 months. Data are collected at enrollment (within 30 days of device implant), and routine care follow-up visits at 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, 18 months and 24 months.
NCT02670551
This study investigates the efficacy of a fixed-dose regimen of cariprazine 1.5 milligram (mg)/day or 3 mg/day compared to placebo for treatment of the depressive episode in participants with bipolar I disorder. The safety and tolerability of the fixed-dose regimens will be evaluated.
NCT00489255
The purposes of the study are to determine: i. To assess the efficacy of Tigan® (trimethobenzamide) in preventing nausea and vomiting when initiating therapy with Apokyn® (apomorphine) ii. To determine the optimal duration for continuation of Tigan® following initiation of Apokyn® therapy iii. To assess the safety of Tigan® in combination with Apokyn® iv. To characterize the pharmacokinetic (PK) profile of apomorphine in subjects treated concomitantly with and without Tigan®
NCT01469039
The study will determine the efficacy of ALKS 9072 (also known as aripiprazole lauroxil or ALKS 9070) for the treatment of schizophrenia in subjects experiencing an acute exacerbation.
NCT01633060
This study was a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase III study to determine the efficacy and safety of treatment with Buparlisib plus Fulvestrant vs. Placebo plus Fulvestrant in postmenopausal women with hormone Receptor-positive (HR-positive), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2-negative), aromatase inhibitor (AI)-treated, locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer whose disease progressed on or after mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitor (mTORi)-based treatment. Patients were randomized in 2:1 ratio to treatment with buparlisib 100 mg daily in combination with fulvestrant 500 mg or placebo daily in combination with fulvestrant 500 mg. Randomization was stratified according to visceral disease status (present or absent).
NCT03236207
Infants/children with cow's milk allergy will take part in 2 double-blinded placebo-controlled food challenges (DBPCFC) of 2 extensively hydrolyzed formulas in random order. If both food challenges are passed, subjects will be asked to consume the Test formula in an at-home open challenge for 7 days.
NCT02003573
Dose Escalation (MTD Finding) Phase: To investigate the maximum tolerated dose (MTD), safety and pharmacokinetics of different volasertib administration schedules in combination with decitabine in previously untreated AML patients \>= 65 years of age who are considered ineligible for standard intensive therapy, or patients with relapsed or refractory AML regardless of prior treatment status. MTD Extension Phase: To collect additional data on safety, efficacy and pharmacokinetics of volasertib in combination with decitabine in previously untreated patients with AML \>= 65 years of age and considered ineligible for standard intensive therapy.
NCT02011893
The purpose of the study is to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of the Prodigy system for the treatment of chronic intractable pain of the trunk and/or limbs.
NCT00720213
This study is being undertaken to collect data from Respironics Inc's BiPAP Auto Servo Ventilation 3 (autoSV3) and compare with data from Respironics, Inc's BiPAP autoSV2, to confirm that the algorithms in the BiPAP autoSV3 device can safely and effectively treat participants experiencing Complex Sleep Apneas (Comp SAS) no worse than its predecessor, the BiPAP auto Servo ventilation 2 (autoSV2) device. This will be determined using a comparative, randomized design with the participants blinded to the therapy. Additionally, attempts will be made to blind the central scorer(s) with respect to which device is in use.
NCT01602068
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of ocular iontophoresis with dexamethasone phosphate ophthalmic solution EGP-437 using the EyeGate® II Drug Delivery System (EGDS) compared to placebo in patients undergoing cataract surgery with implantation of a posterior chamber intraocular lens.
