NCT00191399
The primary objective of this study is to assess the efficacy of olanzapine and fluoxetine combined on all the visits as compared with the baseline visit in patients with bipolar disorder, measured by the total score of the Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS).
NCT00039858
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safe and effective dose of Argatroban for prophylaxis and/or treatment of thrombosis in pediatric patients with current or previous diagnosis of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) and thrombosis syndrome (HITTS), or who in the opinion of the investigator require alternative anticoagulation due to an underlying condition.
NCT00048425
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of a 24-hour infusion of levosimendan compared with placebo in the treatment of decompensated chronic heart failure.
NCT00062907
The purpose of this trial is to examine the safety and immunogenicity of a therapeutic vaccine regimen with recombinant DNA and adenovirus expressing L523S protein in patients with early stage non-small cell lung cancer. The vaccine regimen will consist of two fixed doses of recombinant DNA (pVAX/L523S) followed by two doses of recombinant adenovirus (Ad/L523S). The trial will evaluate the dose escalation of Ad/L523S through three cohorts of patients.
NCT00066898
To assess the safety and efficacy of AGI-1067, as compared to placebo, in the treatment of vascular inflammation and atherosclerosis by assessing the reduction in cardiovascular events.
NCT00061412
This project is evaluating programs to improve reading and writing skills in children who have or are at risk for having reading disabilities. The project focuses on children who are at-risk for low achievement in school and on children with dyslexia.
NCT00051428
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of Reiki in the treatment of fibromyalgia (FM), a condition characterized by widespread muscle pain and stiffness, often accompanied by sleep disturbance, headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, and psychological distress. Reiki is a form of energy medicine in which practitioners reportedly access universal life energy to heal patients, either by direct contact at specific hand positions or from a distance.
NCT00055445
This study will measure the safety and tolerability of three different doses of IdB 1016 in patients with hepatitis C disease who have not responded to or are poor candidates for interferon-based therapies. NOTE: THE STUDY WILL ONLY RECRUIT STUDY PARTICIPANTS AT UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON MEDICAL CENTER IN SEATTLE
NCT00056212
This study will compare the effectiveness of yoga classes, exercise classes, and a self-care book in the management of pain and function for people with low back pain.
NCT00278967
To compare the safety and efficacy of 2 different bowel cleansing preparations prior to colonoscopy in adult subjects.
NCT00381056
A cluster-randomized controlled trial was conducted at 7 intervention and 8 control hospitals to evaluate the effect of teamwork training on the occurrence of adverse outcomes and processes of care in labor and delivery.
NCT00394264
Musculoskeletal injuries including low back pain (LBP) are a major problem in military personnel. These injuries can result from training exercises, job duties, or recreational activities. However incurred, many of these injuries can result in limited duty in work or training, and can decrease military readiness. The National Osteopathic Research Center (ORC) will examine the effectiveness of a specific set of Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment interventions referred to as Manual/Manipulative Therapy (M/MT) to reduce pain and improve functioning in young active duty military personnel. The broad overall goal of this proposed research project is to determine the feasibility of conducting a larger clinical trial of Manual/Manipulative Therapy (M/MT) in restoring full performance in military personnel in the operational environment. A second goal is to estimate the treatment effect size of M/MT in this population. The following two hypotheses will guide the data study: * Hypothesis 1: Subjects receiving manual/manipulative therapy for low back pain will report less pain at two and four weeks than subjects in the control group. * Hypothesis 2: Subjects receiving manual/manipulative therapy for low back pain will achieve greater functioning at two and four weeks than subjects in the control group.
NCT00191633
The purpose of this study is to assess whether changes in the symptoms of ADHD show a relationship with changes in functioning in children with ADHD treated with atomoxetine over a 3-month period.
NCT00217139
The objective of the study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of celgosivir plus peginterferon alfa-2b, with or without ribavirin, for 12 weeks in patients with chronic hepatitis C genotype 1 infection.
NCT00105300
The goal of this study is to test whether adalimumab can induce clinical remission in subjects with active Crohn's disease who have been initially treated with infliximab and either lost response or discontinued its use as a result of intolerance to the drug.
NCT00080197
The purpose of this study is to determine if E7070 is an efficacious, safe, and tolerable treatment for patients with metastatic breast cancer who have failed, or could not tolerate, prior treatments with an anthracycline, a taxane, and capecitabine.
NCT00050830
The purpose of study to determine the activity of CI 1033 against tumors in patients with advanced or metastatic NSCLC who have failed prior platinum-based combination chemotherapy. Another objective is to determine the safety of CI 1033.
NCT00383305
This is a research study of head cooling. Its goal is to determine whether cooling babies' heads can reduce or prevent brain damage that may have resulted from temporarily reduced oxygen supply to the brain. In this study, half of the babies (selected at random) will have a special cooling cap with circulating water placed on their head for 72 hours to lower the temperature of their brain. The rest of the baby's body will be maintained at a defined temperature by a standard overhead radiant heater. The study protocol includes the taking and analysis of blood samples, performance of brain wave tests, imaging of the brain by ultrasound, and other tests as clinically indicated. Neurodevelopmental outcome will also be assessed at 18 months of age.
NCT00266682
People who have a slow heart beat, or whose heart does not beat on its own, may be in need of an electronic device called a pacemaker. A pacemaker is implanted surgically just under the skin in the upper chest area. This device helps the heart beat at a regular rhythm by sending electrical signals (pacing) directly to the heart tissue through flexible wires called leads. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that the SelectSecure (Model 3830) lead is safe and effective for both sensing the heart's natural rhythm and pacing the heart when it does not beat on its own. This lead will be studied in both the right atrium and right ventricle. A previously market approved Medtronic lead model will serve as a comparison to prove the safety and effectiveness of the SelectSecure Model.
NCT00141414
To evaluate the long-term safety of pregabalin in refractory partial epilepsy.
