NCT00557921
The purpose of the COGENT-1 clinical trial is to determine whether CGT-2168 (clopidogrel and omeprazole) compared to clopidogrel is safe and effective in reducing the incidence of gastrointestinal bleeding and symptomatic ulcer disease, in the setting of concomitant aspirin therapy. Antiplatelet therapy is an essential element of care for patients with atherothrombotic disease. Bleeding is a fundamental adverse effect of all antiplatelet drugs including aspirin, clopidogrel and dual antiplatelet regimens. The gastrointestinal tract is the most common site of bleeding related to antiplatelet therapy, typically in connection with peptic ulcer disease. Recently published studies suggest the use of clopidogrel carries a gastrointestinal bleeding risk similar to that of aspirin or non-aspirin non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Patients taking any two of these drugs (clopidogrel, aspirin and/or non-aspirin NSAIDs) are exposed to an even higher risk of bleeding and ulcer disease. Cogentus Pharmaceuticals is launching phase 3 trials of a novel combination product, CGT-2168, which has the potential to significantly reduce this problem and increase patient safety. CGT-2168 combines a standard dosage of clopidogrel and a gastroprotectant (omeprazole) in a once-daily pill that may reduce the likelihood of adverse gastrointestinal events.
NCT00516152
The primary objective of this study is to assess the safety and efficacy of performing unrelated stem cell transplants using intravenous busulfan and fludarabine as preparative therapy and tacrolimus plus methotrexate as the GVHD prophylaxis regimen. The goal is to demonstrate safety, aiming for a transplant related mortality rate (TRM) of \< or equal to 40% at 100 days. A TRM of \> or equal to 60% will be considered unacceptable. Another goal is to demonstrate efficacy by showing and overall survival of \>40% at 1-year following transplant.
NCT00274313
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of a new inhaled sodium-channel blocker called 552-02 in teens and adults with cystic fibrosis. 552-02 will be inhaled once a day for 14 days using a nebulizer. A small subgroup of patients will donate blood samples for pharmacokinetic analysis to see how 552-02 is absorbed into the blood and eliminated after 14 days of treatment.
NCT00081380
The purpose of this study is to determine whether quetiapine when used as adjunct to lithium or divalproex is safe and effective in the maintenance treatment of adult patients with Bipolar I Disorder. The study consists of enrollment and 2 phases, the Open-label treatment Phase and the Randomized treatment Phase. PLEASE NOTE: Seroquel SR and Seroquel XR refer to the same formulation. The SR designation was changed to XR after consultation with FDA.
NCT00812994
Study intended to determine if there are baseline differences in serum neurosteroid levels and neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels in healthy controls vs unmedicated depressed subjects, and whether the levels of these change with antidepressant treatment. Study also intended to determine if baseline neurosteroid/ BDNF levels, and the change in these levels with =treatment, are correlated with clinical antidepressant response to escitalopram (Lexapro).
NCT00241917
The investigators hypothesize that a well-designed hepatitis C (HCV)video education curriculum for high-risk drug users will show measurable benefits in improving HCV testing, hepatitis A and B vaccinations, and HCV knowledge, attitudes, and motivations toward transmission behavior change. The investigators will use a 4-part modular video series designed for at-risk drug users, and in this 12 week study will assess its impact on testing/vaccinations as well as knowledge, attitudes, and motivations in methadone-maintained drug users as compared to a usual-care intervention.
NCT00088088
This study is for patients who have Stage IIIb or Stage IV NSCLC and have never had chemotherapy before for their disease. The first phase of the study recently completed and for the second phase of the study patients are randomly assigned to receive either paclitaxel and carboplatin or paclitaxel and carboplatin and study drug (STA 4783). Treatment will be every 3 weeks for 6 cycles.
NCT00267930
This study is designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability and preliminary efficacy of vernakalant (oral) in subjects with sustained atrial fibrillation of greater than 72 hours and less than 6 months duration
NCT00013325
The purpose of this three-year study is to determine the prevalence and incidence of the different types of cardiac disease and ECG abnormalities in SCI patients. Study goals are: (i) delineation of the specific types of heart disease that occur in the SCI population as manifested both pre-clinically and clinically and (ii) demonstration of their association with ECG findings. This will enable validation of scores and algorithms using the inexpensive and widely available ECG for the prevention of heart disease as well as it's early treatment and rehabilitation in SCI patients. The findings will be helpful in demonstrating what cardiological tests are appropriate for the mandated annual evaluation of SCI patients.
NCT00275769
This study compares the pacemaker's automatic pacing threshold measurements to the manual measurements conducted by a health care provider.
NCT00780936
The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of a local anesthetic nerve block on markers of inflammation and pain after a sunburn. This is important because it may provide information regarding the way that nerve blocks help with the treatment of pain and in particular provide preemptive analgesia.
NCT00698945
To assess the additional benefit of common adjunctive classes on the diurnal IOP curve in patients assessed as needing additional treatment to reach target intraocular pressure (IOP). To demonstrate superiority of IOP control with Istalol 0.5% QD compared to Brimonidine Tartrate 0.2% BID as adjunctive therapy in adults with uncontrolled IOP's (determined by P.I. based on target pressures) currently treated with Latanoprost 0.05% in the study eye(s).
NCT00279981
The purpose of this study is to look at the heart rate and rhythm information collected daily in Medtronic implantable pulse generators (IPG), implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices. The study will gather this information from many patients to see if heart rate or rhythm data can predict the risk of a patient having a medical condition such as stroke.
NCT00116610
This is a Phase II research study that is designed for patients who have small cell lung cancer (SCLC) that is no longer responding to treatment. Patients will receive picoplatin, a new platinum-based agent that is currently under investigation, in 21-day cycles.
NCT00528905
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that AZD3480 improves cognition in patients with stable schizophrenia who are being treated with an atypical antipsychotic and who are active cigarette smokers, to assess the safety and tolerability of AZD3480 and to define the optimal dose(s) to be used in future trials.
NCT00307515

NCT00083447
TransMID treatment or best standard of care for patients with advanced glioblastoma multiforme Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a type of brain tumour. GBM tumours are usually treated with surgery and radiotherapy. Unfortunately, this type of brain tumour may continue to grow or come back (recur) despite treatment. This trial will compare a new drug called TransMID with the best standard treatment that is currently available. TransMID is a drug that is a combination of a protein called transferrin and a poison called diphtheria toxin. Cancer cells need iron in order to continue to grow. They need more iron than normal cells. Transferrin helps cells to take up available iron. So the cancer cells are attached to the transferrin in TransMID, and the diphtheria poison kills them. The aim of this treatment is to kill the cancer cells while not affecting the normal brain cells. This treatment for brain tumours may have fewer side effects than other treatments because it targets cancer cells. The best standard treatment will involve giving chemotherapy. You may have chemotherapy as part of the treatment when you are diagnosed. Or it may be kept in reserve to treat your brain tumour if it comes back or continues to grow. Your cancer specialist (consultant) will decide which chemotherapy drugs you should have.
