NCT01270529
Hypothesis #1: Most children with CKD stages 2-4, ESRD and kidney transplantation will report participation in physical activity that falls short of recommended levels of physical activity; Children on dialysis will be less active. Hypothesis #2: Patients will endorse many barriers to physical activity, some of which will be related to their disease or its treatment; those who are less active will endorse more barriers. Hypothesis #3: Patients will increase their participation in physical activity in response to a pedometer-based 12 week intervention. Baseline level of physical activity and magnitude of increase in physical activity will be more closely associated with change in physical functioning and performance than stage of kidney disease or type of renal replacement therapy. Exercise capacity of the child will be measured by the six minute walk test whereby the subject will asked to walk as far as possible in 6 minutes in a straight corridor. Body fat or body composition will then be measured by Bioelectric Impedance Spectroscopy. Physical functioning or Health Related Quality of Life will be assessed self reported/ parent proxy reliable and validated questionnaire specifically designed for child with chronic kidney disease called Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (Peds QL 4.0). Subjects (teens) or parents will also be asked to fill out a questionnaire on barriers to physical activity on their first visit. Physical activity will be measured in the form of daily steps. The child will wear the pedometer for the first week to assess his/her baseline level of activity. Then the child will continue to wear the pedometer for another 12 weeks during which time he or she will be asked to gradually increase steps walked per day above baseline physical activity. The patient will be called once a week in order to monitor progress, set new weekly step goals (usually 500-1000 steps/day greater than the previous week), and motivate the participant. After 12 weeks of the pedometer-based intervention to increase physical activity, physical performance, body composition and physical functioning (as described above) will be measured once again to assess the effect of increased physical activity on a second visit.

Secondary Objectives: * To characterize the safety profile of the combination * To evaluate the pharmacokinetic profile of cabazitaxel and abiraterone in the proposed combination and dosing schedule * To assess preliminary antitumor activity of the combination in terms of progression-free survival, PSA progression free survival and objective response rate, and overall survival
NCT01559844
The primary objective is to determine if the administration of a combination of sofosbuvir (SOF; GS-7977; PSI-7977) and ribavirin (RBV) to HCV-infected adults with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) meeting the MILAN criteria prior to undergoing liver transplantation could prevent post-transplant re-infection as determined by a sustained post-transplant virological response (HCV RNA \< LLoQ) at 12 weeks post-transplant. Participants will enroll in the pretransplant treatment phase (24 or 48 weeks). Participants enrolling for 24 weeks in the pretransplant treatment phase may receive treatment for up to an additional 24 weeks in the pretransplant retreatment phase. Participants enrolling for 48 weeks in the pretransplant treatment will have a second baseline at Week 24 for combined analysis in the pretransplant retreatment phase. Participants who undergo liver transplant will stop all study drug 24 hours prior to transplant, and enter a 48-week follow-up phase to monitor for recurrent HCV infection.

NCT00656136
This randomized, double-blind, multi-center Phase IIb/III trial will be performed in patients with NSCLC who have received previous treatment with at least one but not more than two lines of cytotoxic chemotherapy (one line must have been a platinum-containing regimen) and either gefitinib or erlotinib for a period of at least 12 weeks and then progressed. The primary objective of this randomized trial is to determine the efficacy of BIBW 2992 as a single agent (Arm A) as compared to a matching placebo (Arm B) in this patient population. Patients on both treatment arms will receive best supportive care in addition to study treatment. Patients enrolled into the trial will be treated and followed until death or lost to follow-up.
NCT00502710
This 5 arm study will assess the efficacy, pharmacokinetics, safety and tolerability of a DPP-IV inhibitor compared to placebo in patients with type 2 diabetes. Patients will be randomized to receive DPP-IV(3) at one of 4 doses (of 12.5mg and above), or placebo p.o. Patients receiving metformin before the study will continue on the same dose of metformin. The anticipated time on study treatment is 3-12 months, and the target sample size is 100-500 individuals.
NCT00041561
The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of nitric oxide for inhalation on the duration of mechanical ventilation in pediatric patients with AHRF.
NCT00514943
The primary objective of this study is to explore the efficacy of BIBW 2992 compared with cetuximab (Erbitux) in patients with metastatic or recurrent head and neck cancer after failure of platinum-containing therapy. In addition, the trial aims to clarify the influence of EGFR genotype on tumor response to the treatment regimens.
NCT02211508
The purpose of this study is to test the safety and efficacy of a noninvasive cortical electrostimulation therapy known as "Reduced Impedance Noninvasive Cortical Electrostimulation" (RINCE) in the treatment of pain associated with fibromyalgia. Patients who meet the 2010 American College of Rheumatology criteria for fibromyalgia will receive up to 24 RINCE treatments delivered by a medical device called "NeuroPoint". Approximately 200 fibromyalgia patients will be randomized into one of two study groups. One of these groups will receive sham treatment, meaning they will receive no treatment at all, while the other group will receive active RINCE treatment. The study's primary outcome measure will be the difference between active and sham treatment groups in the mean change from baseline in patients' weekly worst pain scores. The study's hypothesis is that there will be a difference between treatment groups in primary outcome measure.
NCT02395510
The primary aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of Vortioxetine in an adult population with a diagnosis of PD. PD is generally treated with benzodiazepines which are very effective but have a high risk for addiction, fall, and cognitive impairment. There is still a need for better treatment for PD for longer term use. There are other drugs within the SSRI/SNRI class which have proven to be effective in treating patients with this diagnosis.
