The purpose of this clinical study is to see if an experimental drug, called MM-093, is safe and effective in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. MM-093 is a genetically engineered version of a naturally occurring protein called alpha fetoprotein (AFP). Adults normally have very small amounts of AFP in their bloodstream. However, during pregnancy, AFP levels in both the mother and the fetus are much higher than normal. It has been observed that women with RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) have fewer symptoms during pregnancy, particularly during the third trimester. At this time, the levels of AFP in the blood of the mother and fetus are the highest. This observation led researchers to begin examining AFP as a possible treatment for RA.

The first phase was a double-blind crossover design of methylphenidate in the treatment of adult ADHD. The second phase consisted of an open-label extension trial of methylphenidate in adult ADHD. It was hypothesized that methylphenidate would prove more effective than placebo in treating ADHD symptoms during the first phase. It was also hypothesized that methylphenidate responders from the double-blind trial would continue to benefit from treatment in the second phase. Improvement would include both ADHD symptoms and social adjustment.

The specific aims of this research are: Aim 1 - To describe the UV protection behaviors and beliefs of young adult patients in a dermatology clinic. Aim 2 - To examine whether or not the UV protection behaviors and beliefs of young adult dermatology patients are associated with age, gender, level of education, marital status, contact with skin cancer, time outdoors, skin type, the reason for their visit, and the date of data collection. Aim 3 - To test the efficacy of a motivational enhancement approach to UV protection counseling for young adult dermatology patients, as manifested by favorable changes in UV protection stages of change, UV protection self-efficacy, and UV protection attitudes.

DiObex Inc. is developing an experimental drug (DIO-902) that is made up of part of the ketoconazole molecule for the treatment of elevated blood glucose associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Ketoconazole (Nizoral®) is a drug available by prescription for the treatment of fungal infections however DIO-902 is an investigational drug. DIO-902 may lower blood glucose by lowering levels of a naturally occurring hormone called cortisol. Elevated cortisol may contribute to the development of type 2 diabetes.
