This is the first study of the drug CT53518 when given to humans. The purpose of this study is to determine the highest dose of CT53518 that can safely be given to patients with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) and to identify the side effects associated with taking the drug. The study will evaluate how CT53518 is absorbed, broken down, and eliminated by the body. Additionally, the study will evaluate the effects of the drug on a specific type of cell in bone marrow and blood, known as a blast.

STR (Skeletal Targeted Radiotherapy, 166Ho-DOTMP) is an investigational radiopharmaceutical that delivers radiation directly to cancer cells in the bone and bone marrow. Conventional methods of delivering radiation therapy, such as total body irradiation, expose non-target tissues to radiation and cause serious side effects. In contrast, STR's targeted approach to delivering radiotherapy concentrates the radiation where it is needed, and minimizes exposure of normal tissues. STR is composed of a bone-targeting molecule, DOTMP, in a stable complex with the radionuclide holmium-166. When injected into a patient's bloodstream, STR rapidly binds to bone mineral, delivering a brief, intense dose of radiation to destroy cancer cells in the bone and marrow. The high-energy and long path-length of holmium-166 beta particles provide optimal penetration and uniform irradiation of disease sites in the marrow and bone. STR that does not bind to bone is rapidly eliminated through the urinary tract. STR treatment is followed by autologous stem cell transplantation. The short half-life of holmium-166 allows treatment on an out-patient basis, and minimizes the time required between STR administration and transplantation. The phase III study of STR is a multi-center, randomized, controlled study, designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of STR in patients with primary refractory multiple myeloma. These are patients who have failed to achieve at least a partial response to conventional therapy and have been undergoing treatment for less than 18 months. The trial is expected to enroll approximately 240 evaluable patients, half on the experimental arm and half on the control arm. Patients on the experimental arm will receive STR at a dose of 750 mCi/m2 plus the chemotherapy drug melphalan at 200 mg/m2, followed by autologous stem cell transplantation. Patients on the control arm will receive melphalan only, followed by transplantation. Patients on both study arms will be evaluated for response to treatment six months after transplantation, using an immunofixation assay to detect myeloma protein in patient samples. Analysis of patient samples will be conducted at a central laboratory, and blinded results will be reviewed by an independent panel of experts. The study's primary endpoint is complete response, as determined by the complete disappearance of myeloma protein at six months post-transplant.

The main objective of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of lofexidine in reducing withdrawal symptoms among subjects undergoing opiate detoxification. Currently, lofexidine is the most commonly used non-opiate medication for detoxification from opiates in the United Kingdom (UK). There is no non-opiate medication approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the same indication in the United States (US). The only medications currently approved by the FDA for opiate detoxification are methadone and buprenorphine. These medications, however, have the potential to be abused. Lofexidine, on the other hand, offers a unique advantage for opiate detoxification because it is not addicting, is easy to use, and has a favorable safety profile.

Randomized, double-blind, parallel-group study to evaluate safety and efficacy of multiple subcutaneous doses of DiaPep277 in patients with Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults (LADA). Study medication will be administered at time 0, 1 and 3 months, and then every 3 months for a total of 8 administrations. The total duration of the trial is 24 months (treatment for 18 months and follow-up for an additional 6 months). Patients will be male or female between the ages of 30 and 65 years, inclusive, within 2 to 60 months of the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus. Subjects must be positive for glutamic acid decarboxylate (GAD) autoantibodies. At the Screen Visit (Visit 2), all subjects will be asked to discontinue their use of all oral antidiabetic medications with the exception of metformin. The subjects will be placed on a stable regimen of insulin and diet (plus metformin if needed). Prior to the Baseline Visit (Visit 3), diabetic control must be achieved by diet and insulin (plus metformin if needed).

This is a 24-week study to determine the lipid metabolic effects, safety, and tolerability of tesaglitazar compared with metformin and metformin in combination with fenofibrate in patients with type 2 diabetes and low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). Improvement in dyslipidemia will be evaluated. This is a cross-sectional study of symptom burden and clinical management. A subset of patients who have attended the Primary Care (PC) office with reflux symptoms during a retrospective period of 4 months (Index Visit) are invited to complete health survey questionnaires and partake in a subject-physician/study nurse interview (Visit 1), in order to assess the type, intensity and frequency of GERD symptoms at both visits and describe the treatment provided. Additionally, the impact of GERD on subjects' life, productivity and willingness to pay for GERD symptom relief will be explored. This design will give a "real-life" clinical practice picture in a representative population of PC doctors and subjects.
