A multi-center, double-blind, placebo-controlled out-patient, safety, tolerability, and pilot efficacy study of intramuscular AN-1792 in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease.
NCT00624429
The Early Head Start program serves lower socioeconomic inner-city children from birth to 3 years. This population has a higher incidence of asthma due to increased exposures. The primary objective of this study is: To evaluate the effect of early identification of these high risk, inner-city asthmatic infants, age 1-3 years, and early treatment with pulmicort respules on asthma morbidity (asthma symptoms and use of rescue medications), infant pulmonary functions, and use of health care resources (unscheduled clinic visits, emergency room visits and hospitalizations). To obtain pilot behavior information using Carey Temperament Scale, Bitsea and expand to Itsea if indicated.
NCT00154180
The study will examine the effects of estrogen and progesterone on the development of atherosclerosis in menopausal women when hormone treatment is initiated within 3 years of the menopausal transition.
NCT00519142
The primary objective of this study is to demonstrate whether mitiglinide administered in combination with metformin is more effective than metformin alone in patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) whose blood sugar is not well controlled taking metformin alone. This is a 24 week study which measures improvement in blood sugar after of treatment.
NCT00423410
This study will evaluate the safety, pharmacokinetics (PK), and pharmacodynamic effects of a novel anti-cancer drug, EPC2407, administered to patients with advanced cancer which have not responded to or have recurred following treatment with available therapies
NCT00630877
The primary purpose of this study was to evaluate the psychometric characteristics (reliability, validity, and responsiveness) of a Flushing ASsessment Tool (FAST) in subjects receiving niacin extended-release (NER) plus aspirin (ASA) daily for 6 weeks. The FAST is a questionnaire that was developed to provide a detailed assessment of flushing symptoms and their impact in patients receiving niacin therapy. The effect of aspirin on flushing symptoms, as measured by the FAST, was also evaluated.
NCT00465725
Picoplatin is a new platinum-based chemotherapy drug that has been studied in a variety of cancers. Phase 1 and 2 studies have demonstrated that picoplatin may be effective in patients whose cancer returns or does not improve after treatment with chemotherapy. In these studies, picoplatin was administered intravenously. A capsule containing picoplatin has been formulated. This study will investigate the activity of the oral capsule in humans. Participants with advanced solid tumors will be enrolled.
NCT00021528
STAR\*D focuses on non-psychotic major depressive disorder in adults who are seen in outpatient settings. The primary purpose of this research study is to determine which treatments work best if the first treatment with medication does not produce an acceptable response. Participants will first receive citalopram, an SSRI medication; if symptoms remain after 8-12 weeks of treatment, up to four other levels of treatment will be offered, including cognitive therapy and other medications. There are no placebo treatments. Some patients may require a combination of two or more treatments to obtain full benefit. Participation could last from 15 to 27 months and involve up to 30 clinic visits. Participants will be interviewed by telephone throughout the study about their symptoms, daily functioning, treatment side effects, use of the health care system, and satisfaction with treatment. There will be a one-year follow up for participants once their depression has been successfully treated
NCT00678106
Adolescent subjects hospitalized for the treatment of bacterial infections will be given 1 gram of dalbavancin through their veins and levels of dalbavancin in blood and urine will be measured at different time points. Safety labs will also be checked on a regular basis to assess the safety of dalbavancin.
NCT00484614
Women with newly diagnosed breast cancer anticipating breast-conserving surgery are enrolled into the study and will undergo both high-resolution positron emission mammographic (PEM) imaging and contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the breast(s). The purpose of this study is to determine changes in surgical management resulting from PEM or MRI imaging as compared to conventional imaging and to determine if the changes were appropriate with histopathology as gold standard.
NCT00135889
The purpose of this study is to determine if putting local anesthetic-or numbing medication-through a tiny tube next to the nerves that go to the knee will improve pain control during physical therapy, and ultimately improve the results of surgery. It will also determine if patients having knee replacement surgery may receive the same or better pain control at home compared with staying in the hospital, and if this improves their experience following surgery.
NCT00964132
The purpose of this study is to determine whether NRX 194204 is effective in the treatment of advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC).
NCT00093171
The primary objective of this clinical research study is to assess the safety and efficacy of rFIX for a minimum of 6 months in previously treated patients (PTPs) with hemophilia B (FIX:C ≤2%) during standard-of-care treatment (on-demand, prophylaxis, and through major and minor surgical procedures).
