This study aims to compare pain during insertion of the Skyla® IUS using a 100mm visual analog scale (VAS) among 92 young women aged 14 to 22 years randomized to receive a paracervical (n=46) block versus a sham paracervical block (n=46).

Pilot Study of Tolcapone in Smokers

NCT01202955

The goals of this within-subject pilot study are: (1) assess the feasibility and safety of administering the Catechol-O-Methyl-Transferase (COMT) inhibitor, tolcapone, to smokers, and (2) explore whether tolcapone may reduce abstinence-induced cognitive and affective symptoms that promote relapse. A secondary exploratory goal is to assess whether these effects may be more pronounced in smokers who carry a high risk COMT genotype for smoking relapse: COMT val/val.

Apixaban Discontinuation Prior to Major Surgery

The ADIOS study is a prospective, observational study will evaluate one hundred and thirty (130) patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation who are currently receiving treatment with apixaban as indicated to reduce the risk of stroke or systemic embolism, and who require an elective major surgical or invasive procedure will be included in the study. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of the recommended pre-procedure washout period of 48 hours.
