NCT00412113
The purpose of this study is to investigate whether an aggressive multi-risk factor management strategy (Caduet plus therapeutic lifestyle changes (TLC) regimen) will result in greater percentage of patients achieving blood pressure and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) goals compared with a Joint National Committee 7/ National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III (JNC 7/NCEP ATP III) guideline-based approach (Norvasc plus TLC regimen) after 6 weeks of treatment in primary prevention subjects with hypertension and additional risk factors, including dyslipidemia.
NCT03389555
In this study, we aim to determine whether the combination of Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Thiamine (Vitamin B1), and Corticosteroids improves the trajectory of organ failure and reduces mortality in patients with sepsis and septic shock as compared to placebo.
NCT02973711
This study combines two drugs (ruxolitinib and the tyrosine kinase inhibitor, nilotinib) in an attempt to eliminate the CML (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia) stem cell population and thus allow for the deepest and most durable response possible in patients with CML in chronic phase who have achieved a complete hematologic remission (CHR), complete cytogenetic remission (CCyR), and major molecular remission (MMR), but not a complete molecular remission (CMR). The study will look at safety and tolerability of ruxolitinib when combined with nilotinib in a phase I study and will help establish the MTD (Maximum Tolerated Dose) of ruxolitinib when combined with nilotinib. Once the optimal dose of ruxolitinib is established in the phase I setting, a phase II evaluation will seek to establish the efficacy of this combination.
NCT01270321
The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of two anticancer drugs, everolimus and pasireotide, in patients with thyroid cancer when the cancer is no longer responding to treatment with radioiodine or where it is deemed unsafe for the patient to receive additional radioiodine treatment. The investigators also want to establish the best manner of taking the two medications when used together to treat thyroid cancer. In particular, the investigators want to know if it is better to give both at the same time or add a second medication after the first one has stopped working. This study will also look at specific substances called biomarkers in your blood, and in the tumor tissue which are involved in the growth of tumor cells, and determine if the levels of these biomarkers are related to your response to treatment or development of side effects. Everolimus, also known by the brand name, Afinitor, is a biologic drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of kidney cancer. It works by preventing cancer cells from multiplying and it also makes them more likely to die from the treatment. Pasireotide also known by the name, SOM230 is a new medication that is not yet approved by the FDA for the treatment of cancer. It is a newer form of a drug called octreotide, which is approved for the treatment of cancer arising from endocrine organs. Pasireotide works by binding to a protein called somatostatin receptor, which is expressed in many tissues throughout the body including thyroid cancer cells. Pasireotide prevents the action of somatostatin by binding to these receptors.
NCT02460991
This is a prospective, multicenter study that will be conducted at up to 40 centers in the United States and Outside United States (OUS). Participants in the study will be randomly assigned to receive either ONCO-DOX or sorafenib treatment. This study will evaluate the study participants' outcomes (medical condition) after being treated with ONCO-DOX and compare it to those treated with sorafenib alone.
NCT01272284
An international, multi-center, single arm, prospective clinical study designed to assess the safety and efficacy of the Coloplast Altis single incision sling system for females with stress urinary incontinence (SUI).
NCT00437281
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of multiple doses of pregabalin in pediatric patients with partial onset seizures that are incompletely controlled on their current medications.
NCT00866697
This was a study to determine whether therapy with pazopanib was effective and safe in women with epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer whose cancer had not progressed on first line chemotherapy.
NCT04071158
This phase 2b study will evaluate safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of an RSV vaccine when given together with Tdap in approximately 710 healthy nonpregnant women 18 through 49 years of age. This study will evaluate non-inferiority of RSV vaccine when given with Tdap and vice-versa.
NCT00470301
Tipifarnib may stop the growth of breast cancer by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel, doxorubicin, and cyclophosphamide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving tipifarnib together with combination chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of tipifarnib when given together with combination chemotherapy and to see how well they work in treating patients with stage II or stage III breast cancer.
NCT03033238
The purpose of this study is to investigate opportunities for prevention and treatment of knee osteoarthritis (OA) by evaluating potentially modifiable risk factors for disease and poor pain and physical function outcomes especially among those with early or mild knee symptoms. The goal of the study is to find novel strategies to prevent disease at an early stage and to limit the impact of disease once it has occurred.
NCT03784079
Infection with HIV-1 continues to be a serious health threat throughout the world. Chronic exposure to combination anti-retroviral therapy identified anti-retroviral associated long-term toxicities. Hence, there is a need to prevent these co-morbidities. GSK3640254 is a next-generation HIV-1 Maturation Inhibitor (MI) which may be effective for HIV-1 infection. This study will evaluate the antiviral effect, safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics/ pharmacodynamics of GSK3640254 in HIV-1 infected treatment-naive adults. This study will consists of two parts; Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 will evaluate two active doses of GSK3640254, 200 milligrams (mg) (Cohort 1) and 10 mg (Cohort 2) along with placebo to match GSK3640254 Mesylate salt. Part 2 will evaluate three active doses of GSK3640254. Dose level 1 of GSK3640254 that can provide at least 30 percent of the maximum effect (Cohort 1), dose level 2 of GSK3640254 that can provide at least 75 percent of the maximum effect (Cohort 2) and dose level 3 of GSK3640254 that can provide at least 90 percent of the maximum effect (Cohort 3). These doses are anticipated to be 5 mg, 40 mg and 100 mg respectively, but could be modified based on data obtained in Part 1. Subjects will also receive placebo to match GSK3640254 Mesylate salt in Part 2 of the study. All doses will be administered after a moderate fat meal. This study will consist of Screening period (up to 14 days), Treatment period (Day 1- Day 10), post-dose Follow-up (Day 11- Day 17) and final Follow-up (Day 18-24). A total of approximately 34 subjects will be enrolled, of which, 14 subjects will be randomized in Part 1 and 20 in Part 2 of the study. Six subjects will be enrolled in each of the active dose cohorts and 2 subjects will be enrolled in each of the placebo cohorts.
