NCT00212472
The purpose of this study is to see if a low-dose arm or a high dose-arm of immune tolerance is more effective in eliminating inhibitors in patients with hemophilia A.
NCT00768404
VI-0521, a fixed dose combination of immediate-release (IR) phentermine and controlled-release (CR) topiramate, is in Phase III clinical development as a potential therapy for obesity. In human, both phentermine and topiramate are primarily cleared by renal excretion. The contribution of hepatic metabolism to elimination of phentermine and topiramate is not significant. Obese patients, the proposed indicated population for future treatment with VI-0521, are likely to have renal impairment. Therefore, this study is important in understanding the effect of renal impairment on the pharmacokinetics of topiramate and phentermine in subjects with renal impairment compared to subjects with normal renal function.
NCT00087659
This study is being conducted to compare the effect of an investigational drug versus placebo on bone loss in men with prostate cancer who are receiving Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT). The study drug or placebo will be administered every three months of four treatments in one year. In order to participate, male patients 18 years and older must be consecutive veterans from participating Veterans Administration Medical Centers.
NCT00006054
OBJECTIVES: I. Provide curative immunoreconstituting allogeneic bone marrow transplantation for patients with primary immunodeficiencies. II. Determine relevant outcomes of this treatment in these patients including quality of survival, extent of morbidity and mortality from complications of the treatment (e.g., graft versus host disease, regimen related toxicities, B- cell lymphoproliferative disease), and completeness of functional immunoreconstitution.
NCT00319969
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the objective tumor response rate of amrubicin or standard topotecan therapy when administered as second-line therapy to ED-SCLC patients who have chemotherapy sensitive recurrent or progressive.
NCT00565539
Interleukin 29 (IL-29) is a substance that is produced in the body to help fight viral infections. The purpose of this study is to test the safety and antiviral effects of PEG-rIL-29 (a man-made form of IL-29) when it is given either by itself at different doses or in combination with the approved dose of ribavirin (an antiviral drug) to subjects with hepatitis C infection who have received no prior treatment for this disease or who have relapsed following previous treatment with PEGylated interferon alpha (PEG-IFN-α), or other form of IFN-α, and ribavirin.
NCT00494013
The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness and safety of insulin lispro protamine suspension (ILPS) as compared to insulin detemir as basal insulin therapy in adults with type 2 diabetes. A gatekeeper strategy will be employed for sequentially testing the secondary objectives.
NCT00630877
The primary purpose of this study was to evaluate the psychometric characteristics (reliability, validity, and responsiveness) of a Flushing ASsessment Tool (FAST) in subjects receiving niacin extended-release (NER) plus aspirin (ASA) daily for 6 weeks. The FAST is a questionnaire that was developed to provide a detailed assessment of flushing symptoms and their impact in patients receiving niacin therapy. The effect of aspirin on flushing symptoms, as measured by the FAST, was also evaluated.
NCT00394563
The purpose of this study is to look at the effects of RN624 on moderate to severe knee pain due to osteoarthritis. This study will look at the safety and pain relieving effects of RN624 compared to placebo over a 4 month period.
NCT00220766
The objective of this study is to determine if the safety and tolerability of Immune Globulin Intravenous (Human), 10% caprylate/chromatography (IGIV-C)purified is similar when infused at two different infusion rates. The primary objective is to compare the incidence and severity of all infusion related adverse events when IGIV-C, 10% is administered at a rate of 0.14 mL/kg/min compared to a rate of 0.08 mL/kg/min after a single daily infusion.
NCT00527917
This is a pilot clinical investigation. Patients who meet the eligibility criteria and provide signed informed consent will be randomized to receive either an active product (Uracyst®) or placebo intravesically via a bladder catheter weekly for 6 weeks, followed by 6 weeks of follow-up period.
NCT00618956
The study is designed to accurately assess any changes in blood pressure and pulse at 100 and 200 mg daily dose of milnacipran in patients with fibromyalgia syndrome.
NCT00244595
The objectives of this study are to describe candesartan cilexetil antihypertensive effects in terms of achieved blood pressure and hypertension control rates and the relationship between subject characteristics and antihypertensive efficacy, and between antihypertensive therapy (candesartan cilexetil dose and add-on treatments) and efficacy over a 1 year treatment period in hypertensive children ages 6 to \< 17 years; to describe growth in terms of height and weight in the study population; to describe change in neurocognition as assessed by the Full Scaled IQ score in a subset of study subjects; to determine the pharmacokinetics of candesartan in hypertensive paediatric subjects ages 6 to \< 17 years; and to describe safety including adverse events and adverse events necessitating study drug discontinuation including dose level and dose duration relationships and growth over a 1 year period in hypertensive children age 6 to \< 17 years.
NCT00363974
The purpose of this study is to determine if the drug, called AEG35156, can be safely given to AML patients and whether it effectively reduces levels of a protein (XIAP) to increase the sensitivity of cancer cells to chemotherapy (ara-C and idarubicin) in patients with refractory or relapsed AML.
NCT00090038
The purpose of this study is to provide treatment for patients who have relapsed Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) or refractory NHL, and to test the immunity of study subjects after receiving four treatments with rituximab.
NCT00786084
In 2006 this research group reported their initial findings of a multi-center prospective trial comparing primary repair and primary repair buttressed with a biologic mesh made from porcine small intestinal submucosa (SIS). We were able to accrue 108 patients from 7/2002-3/2005 and followed each patient over 6 months and performed an UGI to check the durability of the repair and rule out a recurrence. The results suggested a significant benefit for the use of SIS mesh in the short-term, with the primary group having a 26% recurrence rate and the mesh group a 9% recurrence rate. While these results are encouraging, it is important to know what is the durability and the longer term benefits of the use of SIS mesh. For this reason we propose a follow-up of the original study patients with the same outcome measures (symptom questionnaire, SF-36, and UGI). This should give us a very good idea about the long-term success of laparoscopic PEH repair with primary and SIS mesh.
NCT00558545
This is an open-label multicenter, phase 1-2 study. Following determination of the recommended AEG35156 dose in combination with weekly paclitaxel in the initial Phase 1 part of this study, additional patients will be enrolled in the Phase 2 part of the study to assess the activity of the combination in advanced breast cancer.
NCT00664183
The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and efficacy of Vitreosolve in diabetic retinopathy patients.
NCT00199524
Patients with upper ureteral or renal stones will be randomized to undergoing ureteroscopy with or without a ureteral access sheath. The sheath is designed to facilitate ureteroscope insertion and re-insertion, thus allowing fragments to be basketed out. Stone free rates at 3 months will be determined between the two groups. The investigators hypothesize that the use of the ureteral access sheath with ureteroscopy will result in improved stone free rates at 3 months compared to ureteroscopy without use of a sheath.
NCT00134706
The purpose of this study is to look at the effects (good and bad) of the combination of docetaxel and carboplatin for patients who have progressive prostate cancer after chemotherapy with drugs such as docetaxel. The investigators are also studying whether the measurement of two proteins in the blood may predict who will respond to the combination of docetaxel and carboplatin.
