NCT01252940
The purpose of this randomized, open-label, multicenter, active-controlled Phase 3b study is to evaluate the noninferiority of the emtricitabine/rilpivirine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (FTC/RPV/TDF) single-tablet regimen (STR; also referred to as fixed-dose regimen or fixed-dose tablet) relative to regimens consisting of a ritonavir-boosted protease inhibitor (PI+RTV) and two nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) in virologically suppressed, HIV-1 infected subjects. The FTC/RPV/TDF STR could offer an attractive treatment option to patients who wish to simplify dosing by reducing pill burden or to improve the tolerability of their treatment. Participants will be randomized into 2 groups, the FTC/RPV/TDF STR group, in which participants will switch treatment regimens at the start of the study, and the Stay on Baseline Regimen (SBR)/Delayed Switch group, in which participants will remain on their baseline regimen during the first 24 weeks of the study (designed to provide an initial active control), and may switch to the FTC/RPV/TDF STR at the Week 24 visit. After the 48-week study analysis period, participants may continue to receive the FTC/RPV/TDF STR per protocol before switching to a commercially available source.
NCT00465881
The purpose of this study is to obtain sufficient continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data in a manner that provides clinical information that is not available using conventional self-monitored blood glucose. Currently, a formal method does not exist for evaluating CGM data except for looking at each glucose reading across the days a CGM system has been worn and evaluating it based on clinical practice experience. The hope is that a mathematical model can be developed that will enable health care providers to quickly and easily determine what changes in diabetes treatment need to be made after CGM data is obtained.
NCT00467675
In a previous study we used the FreeStyle Navigator Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System to obtain 30 days of glucose measurements from 30 people with diabetes treated with insulin. The purpose of this study is to characterize glycemia (glucose) control in 30 people without diabetes and to compare these data to the 30 people with diabetes from a previous study. Through this approach it may be possible to develop a means of establishing a model of normal glucose patterns and a basis of comparison with glucose patterns in people with diabetes.
NCT00202046
The purpose of this study evaluate which factors play a role in lymphedema development among women who have had axillary surgery for breast cancer. Potential risk factors for women who have developed lymphedema will be compared to risk factors among women who have not developed lymphedema after breast cancer surgery.
NCT00824603
The purpose of this study is to determine if a continuing medical education (CME) program can change primary care providers' use of insulin therapy - their confidence in selecting doses and engagement of patients in the decision making as to whether to initiate insulin therapy.
NCT00945711
The purpose of this study is to analyze a chart audit of patients seen at Park Nicollet Eating Disorder Institute (EDI) to identify and compare general characteristics of eating disorders with type 1 diabetes patients to a matched eating disordered population without type 1 diabetes, also seen at EDI.
NCT00061074
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of ERT on appetitive behavior and withdrawal in short-term smoking cessation in postmenopausal females on transdermal nicotine replacement
NCT00818142
We propose to conduct a monthly group of persons with type 1 diabetes who also withhold insulin. Subjects will be asked to complete a 2-page survey (check-in sheet) at the beginning of each session and a 5-page survey (Diabetes and Eating Disorders Survey) on their first session and at their last session of their group.
NCT00003715
RATIONALE: Vaccines made from a person's melanoma cells may make the body build an immune response to kill tumor cells. Interferon alfa may interfere with the growth of the cancer cells. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of melanoma vaccine with that of interferon alfa-2b in treating patients who have stage III melanoma that has spread to regional lymph nodes following surgery.
NCT01658501
Primary objective: The primary objective of this study is to define the dose response of Glymera as measured as the change from baseline in hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) following 20 weeks of once-weekly dosing. Secondary objectives: The secondary objectives are to: * Describe incidence, severity, and duration of reported gastrointestinal side effects of Glymera compared to active comparator; * Compare change from baseline in HbA1c following 20 weeks of dosing compared to placebo and active comparator; * Compare change from baseline in fasting plasma glucose (FPG) following 20 weeks of dosing compared to placebo and active comparator; * Describe the frequencies of adverse events in the treatment groups; and * Describe the above endpoints for the following subgroups of subjects according to baseline type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) therapy: diet and exercise only, metformin only, sulfonylurea only, or metformin and sulfonylurea combination therapy.
NCT01397747
The primary objective is to determine the sensitivity and specificity of the Exact Colorectal Cancer (CRC) screening test for colorectal cancer, using colonoscopy as the reference method. Lesions will be confirmed as malignant by histopathologic examination. The secondary objective is to compare the performance of the Exact CRC screening test to a commercially available FIT assay, both with respect to cancer and advanced adenoma. Lesions will be confirmed as malignant or precancerous by colonoscopy and histopathologic examination.
NCT01220921
The creation of a multi-center cooperative research group encompassing academic and community-based spinal practices . . .
NCT01396291
This study is being done to evaluate the efficacy and safety of asenapine as compared to placebo in preventing the recurrence of mood episodes after stabilization of an acute/manic mixed episode in participants with Bipolar 1 Disorder. After a Screening Period, each participant will receive open-label asenapine and matching placebo for 12 to 16 weeks. Participants who meet stabilization criteria may then be randomized into one of the two study arms (asenapine or matching placebo) to receive double-blind treatment for up to an additional 26-weeks.
NCT00390234
This phase II trial is studying how well ziv-aflibercept works in treating patients with locally advanced, unresectable or metastatic gynecologic soft tissue sarcoma. Ziv-aflibercept may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor.
NCT00102986
Men's and women's bodies may process anti-HIV drugs differently. The purpose of this study is to determine the differences in blood levels of soft gel capsules and tablets of lopinavir/ritonavir (LPV/r) in HIV infected men and women.
NCT00399906
The purpose of this clinical research study is to learn if BMS-582949 alone is an effective treatment for moderate to severe psoriasis. The safety of the drug and the effectiveness of each dose will also be studied.
NCT00617357
This is a prospective, multicenter, interventional, observational, open label, single arm, longitudinal evaluation of ventral incisional hernia repair using LTM in contaminated or infected sites. Three interim analyses are planned to examine the incidence of surgical site events, postoperative resumption of activities and hernia recurrence.
NCT01709162
The purpose of the study is to determine whether additional doses of ipilimumab have a positive effect on survival in the treatment of advanced melanoma that has progressed after successful initial treatment with ipilimumab.
NCT01663285
The main purpose of this study is to look at the cancer-free survival at two years of subjects with high risk upper tract urothelial cancer when treated with the combination of two chemotherapy drugs called Gemcitabine and Cisplatin followed by surgery to remove the kidney, all or part of the ureter (ureters are tubes made of smooth muscle fibers that propel urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder), and a cuff of bladder where the ureter drains into the bladder. Other purposes of the study include looking at the safety of Gemcitabine and Cisplatin before surgery for this type of cancer, time to recurrence of cancer, and overall survival. Exploratory integrative tumor sequencing: The purpose of this part of the study is to test deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA) in various types of samples (tissue and blood) to detect different types of cancer genetic changes in upper tract urothelial cancer (UTUC) to help develop future studies in UTUC. DNA and RNA contain key instructions for cell function and help determine the characteristics of each individual such as hair, eye, and skin color, height, susceptibility to diseases, and other characteristics.
NCT01600963
The purpose of this study is to provide safety and efficacy data for TMC207 and to demonstrate that TMC207 added to a background regimen (BR) is superior to treatment with the BR plus placebo.
