NCT00235495
The goal of the trial is to determine whether human albumin, administered within 5 hours of symptom onset, improves the 3-month outcome of subjects with acute ischemic stroke.
NCT00341705
The Second Multicenter Hemophilia Cohort Study (MHCS-II) will evaluate and prospectively follow approximately 4500 persons with hemophilia who were exposed to hepatitis C virus (HCV). The vast majority will have been infected with HCV, and approximately 1/3 will have been infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Primary objectives are to quantify the rates of liver decompensation, hepatocellular carcinoma, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and to evaluate candidate clinical, genetic, virologic, serologic and immunologic markers that are likely to be on the causal pathway for these conditions. Candidate clinical and laboratory markers will be examined longitudinally to define changes over time and their relationships to one another. Collaborative studies will focus on genome scanning and evaluation of candidate genetic loci for susceptibility or resistance to HCV and HIV infections or to the diseases that result from these infections. Additional studies will identify response and complication rates of various anti-HCV and anti-HIV regimens in the setting of comprehensive clinical care of persons with hemophilia.
NCT01889602
Cognitive impairment is a widely reported side effect of many commonly used drugs. Even a mild, untoward effect on an essential function such a linguistic behavior, a directly observable product of complex cognitive processes, is disruptive to daily life. Nevertheless, the mechanisms underlying a drug's impact on cognition are poorly understood. This lack of understanding impedes the ability to predict both the effects of drugs in development and the degree to which an individual is vulnerable to the cognitive impact of a particular agent. Topiramate (TPM, an antiepileptic drug) is, with increasing frequency, being prescribed for a range of conditions including migraine prophylaxis, obesity and pain. It is a prime example of a drug that causes speech and language problems severe enough in some patients to result in discontinuation of therapy. For reasons not well understood, TPM has a poorer cognitive profile than many of the older antiepileptic drugs. The investigators' rational for this study is that it will offer insight into the mechanisms underlying drug-induced cognitive deficits.
NCT00710567
Specific Aims The aims of this trial are to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the DuraHeart™ LVAS in patients with advanced heart failure who require LVAS support as a bridge to cardiac transplantation. Study Population The patient population for this trial consists of patients with end stage heart failure awaiting cardiac transplantation. Patients must be listed for transplant with UNOS with status 1A or 1B. All patients who meet the eligibility criteria may be included in the study regardless of gender, race or ethnicity. Study Design This is a multi-center, prospective, single arm study in which the lower one-sided confidence interval exceeds the performance goal. Enrollment is expected to occur within an 18-month time period at up to 40 centers. All patients will be followed for all endpoints for 6 months while on DuraHeart™ LVAS support, or until cardiac transplantation or death, whichever occurs first. For those patients who remain on support after 180 days, survival and device reliability data will continue to be collected on a regular basis. If patients are transplanted, survival at day 30 post cardiac transplantation will also be assessed.
NCT02597933
Systemic Sclerosis (SSc) is a devastating disease of unknown etiology. Patients suffer from multiple organ fibrosis whereas lung fibrosis (interstitial lung disease, ILD) is one of the main driver for mortality. There is preclinical evidence for efficacy of nintedanib in SSc and associated ILD (SSc-ILD) and the anti-fibrotic efficacy of nintedanib was proven in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis patients, who are presenting a similar pattern regarding lung fibrosis. Hence it is the purpose of the trial to confirm the efficacy and safety of nintedanib 150 mg bid in treating patients with SSc-ILD, compared with placebo. The trial will be conducted as a double blind, randomised, placebo-controlled trial with primary efficacy evaluation at week 52 and placebo-controlled treatment until last patient out (up to a maximum of 100 weeks). Respiratory function is globally accepted for assessment of treatment effects in patients with lung fibrosis. The chosen endpoint (Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) decline) is easy to obtain and is part of the usual examinations done in patients with SSc-ILD.
NCT00064012
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy such as docetaxel use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Bortezomib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking the enzymes necessary for cancer cell growth. It is not yet known whether bortezomib is more effective with or without docetaxel in treating patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II trial to compare the effectiveness of bortezomib with or without docetaxel in treating patients who have relapsed or refractory stage IIIB or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT00754221
This is a study to investigate the long-term safety and effectiveness \[S,S\]-Reboxetine in relieving the symptoms of Fibromyalgia in patients.
NCT02788279
This is a Phase III, multicenter, open-label, three-arm, randomized study in participants with unresectable locally advanced or metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) who have received at least two prior regimens of cytotoxic chemotherapy for metastatic disease. The study compares regorafenib, a standard of care therapy in this setting, to cobimetinib plus atezolizumab and atezolizumab monotherapy.
NCT02120898
The purpose of this study it so compare the safety and efficacy profiles of a generic imiquimod 2.5% cream to the reference listed Zyclara® (imiquimod) cream in the treatment of actinic keratosis (AK).
NCT02432716
This study is a single center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, cross-over pilot study designed to assess the safety of intranasally (IN) delivered glulisine versus placebo in patients with DS. Subjects will be randomized into this cross-over study and within subject comparisons conducted between single treatment of intranasal insulin glulisine and single treatment of intranasal placebo. All subjects will also receive a single treatment of placebo prior to randomization to ensure adherence to study procedures.
NCT00989261
AC220 will be administered as a once daily oral solution given continuously as 28-day treatment cycles, without any rest periods, until disease progression, relapse, intolerance to the drug, or elective allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).
NCT03117569
The aim of this study is to determine if treatment monitoring schedule for chronic HCV patients treated with glecaprevir (300mg)/pibrentasvir (120mg) can be simplified. Data has shown that direct acting antiviral (DAA) regimen of glecaprevir (300mg)/pibrentasvir (120mg), a protease inhibitor and NS5A inhibitor respectively , provides key features for HCV treatment simplification. Eligible participants (naïve pre-cirrhosis chronic HCV patients) will be randomized (1:2) to the standard or simplified monitoring arm and will receive treatment for 8 weeks. One post treatment visit will be conducted 12 weeks after the final dose of study medication to evaluate the proportion of patients with undetectable HCV RNA at this timepoint (SVR12).
NCT02065791
The goal of this study is to assess whether canagliflozin has a renal and vascular protective effect in reducing the progression of renal impairment relative to placebo in participants with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), Stage 2 or 3 chronic kidney disease (CKD) and macroalbuminuria, who are receiving standard of care including a maximum tolerated labeled daily dose of an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEi) or angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB).
NCT00625833
This is a trial to investigate the effectiveness and safety of \[S,S\]-Reboxetine in relieving chronic peripheral pain suffered by patients with diabetes. Some evidence for the effectiveness of \[S,S\]- Reboxetine in relieving chronic pain has been seen in 3 completed trials.

Data will be collected beginning 6 months before the participant started Tresiba® up to around 6 months after the participant started taking insulin degludec.
NCT00231413
Human Papilloma viruses (HPV) are viruses that cause infections of the skin and genitals in men and women. Several types of HPV infection are transmitted by sexual activity and, in women, can infect the cervix (part of the uterus or womb). This infection, if it persists, can lead over a long period of time to cancer of the cervix in women. In collaboration with MedImmune Inc., GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals has developed a HPV vaccine against the oncogenic types HPV-16 and HPV-18 formulated with the adjuvant AS04. GSK Biologicals is also evaluating novel HPV vaccine formulations. This study will evaluate the immunogenicity and safety of a novel GSK Biologicals HPV vaccine in women 18-25 years of age at study start. Approximately 376 study subjects will receive the novel HPV vaccine or the control vaccine administered intramuscularly according to a 0-1-6 month schedule.
NCT03527667
This pilot study aims to test the feasibility of providing incentives to patients with T2D contingent on remote biochemical verification using a smartphone carbon monoxide (CO) monitor. The investigators will use an ecological momentary assessment (EMA) smartphone application and CO sensor to monitor urges to smoke, stressors, smoking behaviors, and to validate continuous abstinence throughout the intervention. Two different contingency management structures will be explored to investigate the length of time incentives need to be offered.
