NCT00436332
RATIONALE: Erlotinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Bevacizumab may also stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Giving erlotinib together with bevacizumab may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving erlotinib together with bevacizumab works in treating patients with stage III or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT00855595
Subjects with moderate papulopustular rosacea will be treated either with azelaic acid 15% gel topically plus an anti-inflammatory dose of doxycyline (40mg) daily or with metronidazole 1% gel topically once daily plus an anti-inflammatory dose of doxycycline (40mg) over at total of twelve weeks to determine the rapidity of improvement, and the length of time to reach 25%, 50% and 75% clearing compared to baseline.
NCT01318902
This study will include participants with previously treated systemic relapsed or refractory light-chain (AL) amyloidosis who require further therapy and will be aimed at determining the safety profile and the maximum tolerated dose/recommended phase 2 dose of MLN9078 (Ixazomib) administered orally.
NCT00003232
RATIONALE: Some drugs used in chemotherapy can reduce the pain experienced by some people with cancer. Combining more than one drug may be more effective at reducing cancer pain. It is not known whether receiving combination chemotherapy with clodronate is more effective than receiving combination chemotherapy without clodronate for hormone refractory metastatic prostate cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized double-blinded phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy using mitoxantrone plus prednisone with or without clodronate in treating pain in patients with hormone refractory metastatic prostate cancer.
NCT00002633
RATIONALE: Hormones can stimulate the growth of prostate cancer cells. Hormone therapy may fight prostate cancer by reducing the production of androgens. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. It is not yet known whether hormone therapy plus surgery is more effective than hormone therapy plus radiation therapy for prostate cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying giving hormone therapy alone to see how well it works compared to giving hormone therapy together with bilateral orchiectomy or radiation therapy in treating patients with stage III or stage IV prostate cancer.
NCT00003011
RATIONALE: Marimastat may stop the growth of lung cancer by stopping blood flow to the tumor. It is not yet known if marimastat is an effective treatment for small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of marimastat with a placebo following chemotherapy in treating patients who have small cell lung cancer.
NCT00006890
RATIONALE: Thalidomide may stop the growth of multiple myeloma by stopping blood flow to the tumor. Prednisone may be effective in preventing relapse of multiple myeloma. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II trial to compare the effectiveness of two doses of thalidomide combined with prednisone following peripheral stem cell transplantation in treating patients who have multiple myeloma.
NCT00002678
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known which combination chemotherapy regimen is most effective in treating patients with multiple myeloma. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of various combination chemotherapy regimens in treating patients with multiple myeloma.
NCT02988115
The purpose of this study is to determine if bempedoic acid (ETC-1002) is effective and safe versus placebo in patients with elevated LDL cholesterol and who are statin-intolerant.
NCT00004234
RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Giving radiation therapy at different times of the day may affect the chance of developing side effects such as mucositis. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the incidence of mucositis in patients who have cancer of the mouth, pharynx, or larynx, who are receiving radiation therapy in either the morning or afternoon.
NCT00774137
People who undergo coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) or heart valve surgery may experience acute kidney injury (AKI) after their surgery. Current medical tests cannot identify AKI until approximately 48 hours after it occurs. This study will examine three new biomarkers in blood and urine that may provide a more effective and faster way of predicting AKI in people who undergo CABG or heart valve surgery.
NCT00026338
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Biological therapies such as erlotinib use different ways to stimulate the immune system and stop cancer cells from growing. Combining chemotherapy and biological therapy may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known if gemcitabine is more effective with or without erlotinib in treating pancreatic cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to determine the effectiveness of gemcitabine with and without erlotinib in treating patients who have unresectable locally advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer.
NCT00031668
RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. It is not yet known if giving radiation therapy after stem cell transplantation is more effective than stem cell transplantation alone in treating relapsed or refractory non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to determine the effectiveness of radiation therapy in treating patients who have relapsed or refractory non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and have undergone autologous stem cell transplantation.
NCT03614078
The aim of this study is to evaluate safety, tolerability, and efficacy of PRCL-02 in moderate to severe chronic plaque psoriasis
NCT02963922
This trial is conducted globally. The aim of this trial is to investigate effect and safety of liraglutide 3.0 mg in subjects with overweight or obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus treated with basal insulin.
NCT00339664
Cancer patients in clinical trials donate various human samples (e.g., serum, plasma, blood, urine, feces, bile, saliva) for research purposes. The purpose of this study is to conduct further analyses on these existing samples from clinical trials that are being performed outside of, but in collaboration with, the National Cancer Institute.
NCT02421588
Multicenter, open-label, randomized, controlled phase III clinical trial to evaluate the activity and safety of PM01183 versus PLD or topotecan as control arm in patients with platinum-resistant ovarian cancer. PM01183 will be explored as single agent in the experimental arm (Arm A) versus PLD or topotecan in the control arm (Arm B).
NCT00003687
RATIONALE: Different drug formulations and combinations of drugs may help patients with chronic pain live more comfortably. It is not yet known which regimen is most effective for chronic pain. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of different morphine formulations with or without dextromethorphan in treating chronic pain in patients who have advanced cancer.
NCT03004534
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of short-term treatment with darolutamide on breast cancer cells (i.e., how the treatment may change the genes or proteins in breast cancer cells) and to evaluate its safety and the way it is tolerated by subjects. The intent is to study these changes in order to have a better understanding of the potential use of darolutamide for women with EBC, know which patients are likely or unlikely to respond to this treatment, and determine how darolutamide may be combined with other anti-cancer drugs.
NCT01238575
The purpose of this study is to determine whether guanfacine (trade name Intuniv) by itself or in combination with methylphenidate (also known as Ritalin) is helpful for treating hyperactivity in children and adolescents with a Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDDs).
