NCT00531466
A drug called AV650 (tolperisone HCl) will be given to patients who have spasticity following a spinal cord injury. This study has three purposes: 1. To determine whether AV650 is safe for patients with spinal cord injury; 2. To assess what the body does with AV650 once it is ingested; and, 3. To gather some early evidence as to whether AV650 is effective in treating spasticity in patients with spinal cord injury.
NCT00388596
The first purpose of this study is to determine if taking SB-751689 along with Rosuvastatin (CRESTOR) or Atorvastatin (LIPITOR) will change how Rosuvastatin or Atorvastatin are absorbed and eliminated from the body. Rosuvastatin and Atorvastatin are prescription medications used to treat patients with high cholesterol. Patients who would take SB-751689 for osteoporosis might also take Rosuvastatin or Atorvastatin for high cholesterol. In an earlier study, SB-751689 was shown to lower the blood levels of Rosuvastatin when the two drugs were taken at the same time. Lower blood levels of Rosuvastatin could mean that it would not be as effective in lowering cholesterol. In this study SB-751689 will be taken alone, Rosuvastatin will be taken alone, SB-751689 and Rosuvastatin will be taken together, and SB-751689 will be taken 12 hours before Rosuvastatin is taken. This study will help determine if the two drugs should be taken 12 hour apart to prevent lower Rosuvastatin blood levels. Atorvastatin will be taken alone and at the same time as SB-751689 to determine if Atorvastatin blood levels are lower when taken at the same time as SB-751689. A second purpose of this study is to determine if taking another drug called Ketoconazole (Nizoral) along with SB-751689 will change how SB-751689 is absorbed and eliminated from the body. Ketoconazole is a prescription medication used to treat patients with fungal and yeast infections.
NCT00000751
To evaluate the effect of anti-HIV immune serum globulin (HIVIG) versus immune globulin (IVIG) administered during pregnancy and to the newborn, in combination with zidovudine (AZT) administered intrapartum and to the newborn, on incidence of HIV infection in infants born to HIV-infected women who received AZT during pregnancy for medical indications. Vertical transmission of HIV from mother to child may occur before, during, or after parturition (via breast-feeding). It is believed that therapy administered both during pregnancy and intrapartum may help prevent vertical transmission. Additionally, adjunctive short-term antiretroviral therapy for the newborn, following the intensive viral exposure presumed to occur at birth, may be necessary.
NCT00528905
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that AZD3480 improves cognition in patients with stable schizophrenia who are being treated with an atypical antipsychotic and who are active cigarette smokers, to assess the safety and tolerability of AZD3480 and to define the optimal dose(s) to be used in future trials.
NCT00069901
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of CT-2103 (poly(L)glutamate-paclitaxel) in combination with carboplatin for the treatment of patients with Stage III or IV ovarian or primary peritoneal cancer.
NCT00705562
The objective of the study is to assess comparative gastrointestinal tolerance of normal term infants to various milk-protein infant formulas.
NCT00471172
The aim of the study was to compare 5 methods of delivering a weight loss lifestyle modification program to obese patients on a background of sibutramine. The methods differed in the type and frequency of counseling utilized to deliver dietary, physical activity and behavioral recommendations for weight loss.
NCT00430898
The purpose of this study is to assess the safety, effectiveness and pharmacokinetics of two levels of intravenous basiliximab in ulcerative colitis, compared to placebo.
NCT00279981
The purpose of this study is to look at the heart rate and rhythm information collected daily in Medtronic implantable pulse generators (IPG), implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices. The study will gather this information from many patients to see if heart rate or rhythm data can predict the risk of a patient having a medical condition such as stroke.
NCT00150410
* Whether a combination of three therapies - metformin and a sulfonylurea plus Exubera, an investigational drug, controls your diabetes at least as much as a triple combination therapy of metformin and a sulfonylurea plus Avandia, a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved drug. * Whether a combination of two therapies - metformin plus Exubera controls your diabetes at least as much as a as a triple combination therapy of metformin and a sulfonylurea plus Avandia.
NCT00781144

NCT00083447
TransMID treatment or best standard of care for patients with advanced glioblastoma multiforme Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a type of brain tumour. GBM tumours are usually treated with surgery and radiotherapy. Unfortunately, this type of brain tumour may continue to grow or come back (recur) despite treatment. This trial will compare a new drug called TransMID with the best standard treatment that is currently available. TransMID is a drug that is a combination of a protein called transferrin and a poison called diphtheria toxin. Cancer cells need iron in order to continue to grow. They need more iron than normal cells. Transferrin helps cells to take up available iron. So the cancer cells are attached to the transferrin in TransMID, and the diphtheria poison kills them. The aim of this treatment is to kill the cancer cells while not affecting the normal brain cells. This treatment for brain tumours may have fewer side effects than other treatments because it targets cancer cells. The best standard treatment will involve giving chemotherapy. You may have chemotherapy as part of the treatment when you are diagnosed. Or it may be kept in reserve to treat your brain tumour if it comes back or continues to grow. Your cancer specialist (consultant) will decide which chemotherapy drugs you should have.
NCT00494663
DiObex Inc. is developing an experimental drug (DIO-902) that is made up of part of the ketoconazole molecule for the treatment of elevated blood glucose associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Ketoconazole (Nizoral®) is a drug available by prescription for the treatment of fungal infections however DIO-902 is an investigational drug. DIO-902 may lower blood glucose by lowering levels of a naturally occurring hormone called cortisol. Elevated cortisol may contribute to the development of type 2 diabetes. The purpose of this research study is to test the safety of DIO-902 when taken by mouth with metformin and the cholesterol-lowering drug atorvastatin to determine the type and severity of any side effects from this treatment. Other purposes of the study are to see how the treatment affects your blood glucose levels, cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and waist circumference.
