The enrolled eligible subjects will be instructed to self-image the study eye(s) once daily for 5 weeks using a NVHO device at home with scheduled in-office examinations at Week 1, Week 5 and Interim Visits, when applicable, with additional in-office Cirrus volume scans acquired at these office visits. The self-imaging data on the NVHO will be automatically uploaded to the Notal Health Cloud and from there the reconstructed volume scans will sent to the study database.
NCT04209621
Background: Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) are cancers often treated with the drug ibrutinib. For some people, ibrutinib stops working. Researchers want to see if adding another drug can help. Objective: To test how people with ibrutinib-resistant CLL respond to duvelisib. Eligibility: People ages 18 and older with CLL or SLL that is no longer responding to ibrutinib or has developed mutations that could stop it from working Design: Participants will be screened with: * Medical history * Physical exam * Heart tests * Blood and urine tests * CT scan. For this, participants will have a dye injected into a vein. They will lie in a machine that takes pictures of the body. * Bone marrow biopsy. For this, a needle injected into the participant s bone will remove marrow. * Optional lymph node biopsy. For this, the participants whole lymph node or part of it will be removed through the skin. * Optional lymphapheresis. For this, the participants blood is removed through a vein in one arm, the white blood cells separated out, and the blood returned through a vein in the other arm. Participants will take duvelisib twice daily by mouth. They will continue ibrutinib at their current dose for the first 6 months. They will continue to take duvelisib until their CLL/SLL stops responding or they develop intolerable side effects. Participants will take an antibiotic and antiviral medication. They may take steroids. Participants will have blood tests every 2 weeks during the first 2 months. Participants will have monthly follow-up visits during the first 6 months and every 3 months thereafter. These will include repeats of some of the screening tests.
NCT04155437
Alive \& Thrive (A\&T) is an initiative that supports the scaling up of nutrition interventions to save lives, prevent illnesses, and contribute to healthy growth and development through improved maternal nutrition, breastfeeding and complementary feeding practices. In Burkina Faso, A\&T developed an intensive package of maternal nutrition interventions to be integrated into existing ANC services delivered through government health facilities that align with the latest global evidence. These included intensified counseling and support on dietary diversity and quality during pregnancy, iron-folic acid (IFA) supplements consumption, importance of ANC and increasing the number of visits, adequate weight-gain monitoring, and early initiation of and exclusive breastfeeding. The evaluation used a two-arm cluster-randomized, non-masked trial design, consisting of two cross-sectional surveys of pregnant and recently delivered women (i.e. with a child under 6 months of age) in 2019 and 2021.
NCT01085097
The study aims to evaluate the safety and clinical effect of daily oral treatment with laquinimod capsules in active lupus nephritis participants. This study will assess Laquinimod doses of 0.5 milligrams (mg)/day and 1 mg/day in combination with standard of care treatment (mycophenolate mofetil \[MMF\] and corticosteroids). Laquinimod is a novel immunomodulating drug which is currently in advanced stages of development by Teva Pharmaceuticals Ltd. for Multiple Sclerosis.
NCT01597583
The main aim of this study is to conduct a randomized control trial to compare MobileMedMinder, a mobile phone based medication reminder software product, with currently accepted and empirically supported methods for increasing medication compliance through reminders and tracking.
NCT01672242
Respiratory distress is a common problem in an intensive care unit. There are multiple mechanisms that are used to help patients who are in respiratory distress including mechanical ventilation, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP), high flow oxygen, and oxygen supplementation through nasal cannula or a facemask. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the mechanism by which Vapotherm, a high flow oxygen system, provides breathing support. Vapotherm provides high flow oxygen at different flow rates, meaning one can increase the amount of oxygen flow to help with breathing support. The investigators believe that this high flow oxygen system may provide similar breathing support that a continuous positive airway pressure machine (CPAP) machine does.
NCT02369653
The purpose of this study is to compare the effect of a blood thinning drug called Apixaban versus no administration of a blood thinning drug, in preventing blood clots in children with leukemia or lymphoma. Patients must be receiving chemotherapy, including asparaginase, and have a central line (a catheter inserted for administration of medications and blood sampling)
NCT03596203
The study will evaluate whether an experimental medical device that emits a series of brief, intense magnetic pulse will relieve foot pain from Diabetic Neuropathy (DN). The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a similar device for treatment of migraine headaches, but this type of device has not been studied for the treatment of DN.
NCT00434499
This study will examine whether epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a major component of green tea, affects how the body responds to insulin in healthy and obese people. Insulin is not as effective in people who are overweight, have high blood pressure or diabetes. This condition is known as insulin resistance. Laboratory studies suggest that green tea or EGCG treatment lowers blood pressure, lowers blood sugar and increases blood flow. This study will see if EGCG improves insulin resistance or insulin's effects on blood flow in people with insulin resistance. Healthy normal weight or overweight people between 21 and 65 years of age may be eligible for this study. Participants are randomly assigned to take EGCG or a placebo ( inactive dummy pill ) in two 4-week treatment phases with a 2-week period of no study medication before each treatment phase. After the first 4-week treatment, patients on placebo are switched to EGCG and those on EGCG are switched to placebo. In addition to treatment, participants undergo the following procedures during the study period: * Screening, including medical history, physical examination and blood and urine tests, and finger-stick blood sugar measurement for patients with diabetes * Complete a dietary and physical activity questionnaire and consult with a dietitian * Blood and urine tests * At-home and clinic blood pressure monitoring * Glucose clamp test to measure how the body responds to insulin. This test is done three times during the study. A needle is placed in a vein in each of the subject's arms, one for sampling blood and the other for infusing insulin, glucose and potassium. Glucose and insulin levels, electrolytes, lipids, fatty acids, cytokines and epicatechin are measured. * Forearm blood flow measurement with microbubbles and ultrasound. Before beginning the glucose clamp test, a test of how well the blood vessels relax is done. A device that measures the size of the artery in the upper arm is placed above the elbow. Blood flow in the muscle of the forearm is measured by ultrasound using a small infusion through a vein of microbubble contrast agent consisting of gas-filled bubbles the size of red blood cells. The contrast agent is infused over a 7- to 9-minute period at the beginning of the glucose clamp test and again 2 hours after the beginning of the test.
