NCT00002646
RATIONALE: Estrogen can stimulate the growth of breast cancer cells. Hormone therapy using tamoxifen may fight breast cancer by blocking the uptake of estrogen. Combining chemotherapy with hormone therapy may kill more tumor cells. Chemoprevention therapy is the use of certain drugs to try to prevent the development or recurrence of cancer. The use of fenretinide may be an effective way to prevent the recurrence of breast cancer. It is not yet known whether tamoxifen plus fenretinide is more effective than tamoxifen alone for breast cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of tamoxifen plus fenretinide with tamoxifen alone in treating postmenopausal women who have stage II or stage III breast cancer that is estrogen receptor positive and/or progesterone receptor positive.
NCT01087021
Primary Objective: * To assess the potential effect on QTcF interval (QTc Fridericia) of cabazitaxel in cancer patients Secondary Objectives: * To assess the effects of cabazitaxel on heart rate (HR), QT, QTcB (Bazett's correction), and QTcN (population specific correction) intervals * To assess the clinical safety of cabazitaxel * To assess cabazitaxel plasma concentrations at Cycle 1 at early timepoints (during infusion and up to 5h post end of infusion)
NCT01198626
The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy, safety and tolerability of JNJ-32729463 compared to moxifloxacin for the treatment of subjects requiring hospitalization for Community-Acquired Bacterial Pneumonia (CABP).
NCT01486147
The objective of the study is to validate a visual method of presenting nutritional information by determining if users of the visual method remember food properties better than users given the same information in a non-visual form with texts and tables.
NCT00686205
To test blood samples from volunteer donors of whole blood and blood components using a new investigational test that detects human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Results will be compared to the current HIV screening assay.
NCT01239004
The present study will assess the low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) lowering effect of colesevelam as an adjunct to niacin for the improvement of lipids and glycemic control in dyslipidemic subjects with impaired fasting glucose.
NCT00111904
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well paclitaxel works in treating patients with unresectable locally advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer.
NCT00623233
To determine how long Gemcitabine and Bevacizumab will stop the cancer from growing in patients with advanced breast cancer.
NCT00696384
The purpose of this study is to determine the long term safety and tolerability of azilsartan medoxomil, once daily (QD), in participants with Essential Hypertension.
NCT00607919
This study will evaluate the effect of atomoxetine in treating Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) symptoms in children and adolescents with ADHD and comorbid reading disability (dyslexia)
NCT00903383
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and effectiveness of LX3305 versus a placebo control in subjects with active rheumatoid arthritis on stable methotrexate therapy.
NCT00679263
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of MN-221 at two different dosing rates administered through a continuous infusion in subjects diagnosed with moderate to severe asthma.
NCT00844077
Barrett's esophagus can progress to esophageal cancer, but it doesn't always. Current treatment is frequent surveillance via upper endoscopy with multiple biopsies to look for changes (dysplasia). Pathologists vary dramatically in their interpretation of Barrett's Metaplasia versus dysplasia and consensus is very difficult to achieve. The investigators propose a longitudinal study of subjects with confirmed Barrett's intestinal metaplasia without dysplasia to look for predictive factors for transformation to dysplasia or cancer. Potential biomarkers can be found in serum, plasma, urine, frozen or fixed Barrett's and Normal esophageal mucosa. In addition, the investigators are testing a brushing technique from CDx, Inc. for predictive factors. Subjects must have pathologically confirmed Barrett's intestinal metaplasia without history of dysplasia to be on this longitudinal study.
NCT01487148
This study is designed to compare the performance of the P-1000 System, POCARED's Rapid Diagnostic System which uses optical fluorescence analysis, to standard methods of uropathogen quantification and identification.
NCT00766311
Survivors of childhood leukemia have muscle weakness and impaired mobility (physical performance), a higher than expected frequency of obesity, and early mortality from cardiovascular disease. Treatment related neuropathy, cardiotoxicity and general cachexia may complicate physical performance and establish a pattern of sedentary behavior that may lead to a lifetime of inactivity. There is limited evidence that children being treated for leukemia benefit from home exercise programs during the maintenance phase of therapy, particularly in terms of muscle strength and range of motion. However, there are no established guidelines regarding the prescription of exercise for children diagnosed with leukemia. We propose to test the feasibility of an exercise intervention among children being treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and hypothesize that children who participate in the exercise intervention will demonstrate improvements in gross motor function, strength, flexibility, and cardio respiratory fitness, and that they will have more favorable body composition when compared to the children who are assigned to the usual activity group.
NCT00118456
AEE788 is an orally active, reversible, small-molecule, multi-targeted kinase inhibitor with potent inhibitory activity against ErbB and VEGF receptor family of tyrosine kinases. It has an IC50 of less than 100 nM against p-EGFR, p-ErbB2, and p-KDR (VEGFR2). This study will assess the safety, pharmacokinetic (PK)/pharmacodynamic (PD) profiles and clinical activity of AEE788 in advanced cancers.
NCT00664534
This study is designed to look at how best to start and then gradually intensify (as needed) the insulin lispro premix regimen in type 2 diabetes patients who consume a light breakfast.
NCT01492140
The purpose of this study is to characterize the safety and performance in normal therapeutic use of the Artiste System in comparison to standard manual administration of dermal fillers. Subjects are recruited from the investigator's practice and randomized to receive treatment with the Artiste System on either the left or right nasolabial fold, the contralateral fold to be treated with standard manual injections. Treatments occur in a single session to achieve optimal cosmetic results (OCR) balanced on both sides. Investigators are encouraged to use a variety of types and brands of dermal fillers, recruiting subjects for the study as necessary. Safety and performance evaluations will be made through a combination of clinical observations, questionnaires for the subject and for the Treating Investigator, and spontaneous reports of adverse events. There are 6 required study visits: Screening, Day 1 (Treatment Day), Day 3, Day 8, Day 15, and Day 29.
NCT00944892
This is a double-blind, prospective, randomized study in which patients will be randomized to 1 of 4 treatment arms (3 active and 1 placebo). Each patient will receive two doses of active medication or placebo, with study drug administered intravenously (IV). The primary goal of the study is to assess the safety and tolerability of repeat administrations of REGN475 compared to placebo in patients with osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee.
NCT00528047
The purpose of this study is to test the safety of PRLX 93936 and see what kind of effect it has on patients and their cancer. This study will also determine the highest dose of PRLX 93936 that can be given without causing adverse side effects and the dose of PRLX 93936 that should be used in future studies.
