NCT00272805
The purpose of this study is to compare dosing compliance between study patients taking controlled release carvedilol once a day, and study patients taking immediate release carvedilol (Coreg) twice a day.
NCT00026156
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of vinorelbine followed by docetaxel in treating patients who have advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT00004137
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. Colony-stimulating factors such as filgrastim may increase the number of immune cells found in bone marrow or peripheral blood and may help a person's immune system recover from the side effects of chemotherapy. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy plus filgrastim in treating patients who have previously untreated extensive-stage small cell lung cancer.
NCT00402337
The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of administration of linaclotide acetate in patients with chronic constipation.
NCT00002723
Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of low, intermediate, and high dose suramin in treating men with stage IV prostate cancer that is refractory to hormone therapy. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. It is not yet known which regimen of suramin is more effective for prostate cancer.
NCT00067041
Approximately 30 patients will be enrolled in this 12-week study designed to assess the effect of continuous subcutaneous Remodulin therapy on the outcome of infrainguinal bypass grafts in patients with critical limb ischemia (CLI). Portions of the study will be conducted in the hospital and on an out-patient basis. The study will be conducted at multiple centers.
NCT00676650
This study will compare the safety and efficacy of sunitinib in combination with prednisone versus placebo and prednisone in patients that have metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer that has progressed after treatment with a docetaxel-containing chemotherapy regimen. This is a second-line study.
NCT00107016
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the combination of everolimus and letrozole compared to placebo and letrozole as pre-surgical therapy in patients with newly diagnosed estrogen receptor positive breast cancer.
NCT00777309
This is a randomized, placebo-controlled, double blind phase 2 study designed to compare treatment with ARQ 197 plus erlotinib to erlotinib plus placebo in patients with non-small cell lung cancer. The study will enroll patients who have had one prior chemotherapy regimen (other than erlotinib) for NSCLC.
NCT00195351
This is a phase 3b/4 randomized, open-label, comparative, multicenter study of the safety and efficacy of tigecycline to ceftriaxone sodium plus metronidazole in hospitalized subjects with cIAI (Complicated Intra-Abdominal Infection). Subjects with clinical signs and symptoms of cIAI will be included for enrollment. Subjects will be stratified at randomization for Acute Physiologic and Chronic Health Evaluation scale (APACHE II) score \< 10 and \> 10. Subjects will be followed for efficacy through the test-of-cure assessment. Safety evaluations will occur through the treatment and post-treatment periods and continue through resolution or stability of the adverse event(s).
NCT00300963
The purpose of this study is to test the safety and effectiveness of talnetant vs. risperidone vs. placebo in reducing positive and negative symptoms in acutely psychotic schizophrenia patients.
NCT00272961
The study was to determine the safe and effective dose of TBC3711 in patients with uncontrolled high blood pressure while already taking blood pressure medications.
NCT01792206
The purpose of this research study is to study the effects of paricalcitol on endothelial function and inflammation, cardiovascular risk factors which are associated with patient populations that have Type 2 diabetes and Stage 3 and 4 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Hypothesis 1: The state of CKD is associated with oxidative stress and inflammation and impaired post ischemic endothelium dependent flow mediated vasodilation which may contribute to atherogenesis. Hypothesis 2: The administration of paracalcitol to patients with CKD will suppress oxidative stress and inflammation and improve endothelial function and thus contribute to an anti-atherogenic action.
NCT00384358
The primary objective of this study is to assess the safety of administering rhBMP-2/CPM as an adjuvant to internal fixation in subjects with fractures of the proximal femur.
NCT00414518
The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and effectiveness of an anti-HIV drug regimen followed by treatment interruption in people recently infected with HIV. This study will also compare the effects of a treatment regimen including treatment interruption with a treatment plan based on clinical indicators.
NCT00988741
This is a global randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blinded Phase 2 study designed to compare treatment of ARQ 197 versus placebo in patients with unresectable HCC who had radiographic disease progression after systemic first line therapy or were unable to tolerate the therapy.
NCT01396304
Calcium alginate dressings with silver have been found to be safe and effective for use for leg ulcers. The primary objective is to compare Restore Calcium Alginate Dressing, Silver to AqualCel Ag Dressing on the following parameters: No further progression toward infection (bioburden), ease of application and removal, and percent progression to closure. The secondary objective is to obtain photographic documentation of the leg ulcers during the course of the study.
NCT00752726
The purpose of this study is to determine if a 24 week weight loss program with orlistat 60 mg will produce greater changes in body composition compared to placebo.
NCT00845234
An implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) administers a shock to terminate potentially life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias. The device saves lives, but presents psychological challenges for patients. At present, there is a paucity of brief interventions for ICD patients designed for administration in a clinic setting that considers issues of cost, time, and available resources. The present study examined the impact of a brief cognitive behavioral (CBT) educational intervention on primary endpoints of patient acceptance and quality of life and secondary endpoints of depression and anxiety. It was hypothesized that the intervention would result in significant improvements primary and secondary endpoints for participants in the intervention group.
NCT00215527
The investigators are studying the use of enzyme replacement therapy into the spinal fluid for treatment of spinal cord compression in the Hurler-Scheie and Scheie forms of mucopolysaccharidosis I (MPS I). Funding source -- FDA OOPD
