NCT00423787
Ragweed MATAMPL has been developed by Allergy Therapeutics to provide pre-seasonal specific immunotherapy for patients with proven type I hypersensitivity to cross reacting ragweed pollens causing rhinitis and/or conjunctivitis with or without mild to moderate asthma bronchiale. The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy of Ragweed MATAMPL versus placebo in ragweed-allergic subjects following 4 subcutaneous injections of study medication administered before the start of the 2007 ragweed pollen season
NCT00572559
Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is a commonplace complication of intensive care patients ventilated for longer than 48 hours. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is the cause of late onset VAP in up to about 30% of cases in US hospitals. Ineffective treatment of MRSA VAP clearly leads to prolonged mechanical ventilation and is probably associated with higher mortality. The purpose of this protocol is to directly compare linezolid and vancomycin specifically for MRSA VAP.
NCT00244712
This study was designed to test the safety and effectiveness of EPZICOM(abacavir/lamivudine) and TRUVADA (emtricitabine/tenofovir) for the treatment of HIV infection when both are used in combination with KALETRA (lopinavir/ritonavir) over 96 weeks
NCT00666757
The purpose of this study is to compare duloxetine with other antidepressants in the treatment of severe depression.
NCT01026727
This phase 2b study is designed to assess the long-term efficacy (24 weeks) of MPC-4326 in combination with a 2-3 drug optimized background regimen (OBR) relative to the efficacy of a 3-4 antiretroviral (ARV) regimen in treatment experienced, HIV-1 infected subjects.
NCT00395421
This study is being conducted to see if the investigational medication, valopicitabine, is safe to use in combination with ribavirin, a drug approved by the FDA for treating hepatitis C infection.
NCT00180466
PROSPECT is a multi-center prospective registry of Acute Coronary Syndromes (ACS) patients with single or double vessel coronary artery disease. Approximately 700 patients with ACS will be enrolled into the study at sites in the United States and European Union.
NCT00605176
The purpose of this study is to determine whether imiquimod creams are effective in treating Actinic Keratoses when applied to the face or balding scalp. Actinic keratosis (AK) is a skin condition that shows up on skin routinely exposed to the sun, such as the face, scalp, shoulders, chest, back, arms, and hands. The active ingredient contained in the study cream for this study is the same as that of the approved product Aldara, which has been shown to be safe and effective for the treatment of AKs.
NCT00294931
This multicenter phase II trial is designed to study the unique combination of chemotherapy (irinotecan./carboplatin) and bevacizumab in the extensive-stage setting. This clinical setting seems ideal for evaluation of the role of bevacizumab in delaying progression and prolonging survival.
NCT01123759
Fish can provide pregnant women with omega-3 fatty acids for fetal brain development but some fish contains high levels of mercury which is detrimental to fetal brain development. The hypothesis is that women who have previously consumed high mercury fish can reduce the mercury level in their bodies and improve their omega-3 levels in three months by eating fish that is high in omega-3 fatty acids and low in mercury.
NCT00120861
This study is being conducted to compare the safety, effectiveness and tolerance of valopicitabine (NM283) when used alone and when valopicitabine is used together with pegylated interferon in hepatitis C treatment failure patients. These results will be compared against the results of treatment with pegylated interferon plus ribavirin, the current standard therapy for treatment of hepatitis C viral infection.
NCT00321152
The purpose of the study is to test whether oral 6(S)-5-MTHF (Deplin®) is safe and effective in relieving depression when it is added to standard kinds of antidepressants called serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).
NCT00902252
The purpose of this clinical study is to demonstrate that the Vitala™ Continence Control Device is both safe and effective when worn up to 12 hours per day.
NCT00016068
RATIONALE: Antivirals such as valganciclovir act against viruses and may be effective in preventing cytomegalovirus. It is not yet known if valganciclovir is effective in preventing cytomegalovirus. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying valganciclovir to see how well it works in preventing cytomegalovirus in patients who have undergone donor stem cell transplantation.
NCT00113516
The purpose of this study is to find out if SU011248 (sunitinib) provides additional benefit when it is given after treatment with two chemotherapy drugs carboplatin and paclitaxel and also if sunitinib is safe for patients with locally advanced and metastatic Non Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC).
NCT00673452
The purpose of this study is to confirm the efficacy and safety of duloxetine 60-120 mg once daily in comparison to placebo on symptom improvement in patients meeting criteria for fibromyalgia aged 18 and older. Patients will be randomized to duloxetine or placebo, however, all patients will receive duloxetine at some point in the study.
NCT01131000
The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of intravenous ibuprofen on reducing fever at 4 hours.
NCT00114972
The SYNTAX trial is designed to determine the best treatment for patients with complex coronary disease (blocked or narrowed arteries in both the right and left sides of the heart) by randomizing patients to receive either percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with polymer-based paclitaxel-eluting TAXUS stents or to coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG).
NCT00003328
RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. It is not yet known whether radiation therapy followed by porfiromycin is more effective than radiation therapy alone in treating patients with head and neck cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized double-blinded phase III trial to determine the effectiveness of radiation therapy followed by porfiromycin in treating patients with stage III or stage IV head and neck cancer.
NCT01067950
Current medical therapies are not able to prevent progression of established macroproteinuira (i.e. diabetic nephropathy) to end-stage renal failure in type 1 (insulin dependent) diabetic patients. In this setting, proteinuria is a major risk factor for mortality. Pancreas transplantation, on the contrary, can revert diabetic nephropathy and thereby prevent end-stage chronic renal failure, with theoretically lower risk of death as compared to current medical therapies. The main objective of this study is to assess superiority of isolated pancreas transplantation versus intensive exogenous insulin therapy in type 1 diabetic patients with overt diabetic nephropathy and mildly reduced renal function. The primary endpoint is a composite efficacy/failure end-point including: patient mortality and renal function impairment during 5 years in patients with badly controlled diabetes and nephropathy resisting to up-to-date nephroprotective therapies.Main secondary objectives are safety and efficacy of both regimens, including proteinuria and renal histology evaluation, metabolic control and quality of life, acute and chronic extrarenal complications of diabetes, pancreas survival and all risks related to the transplant procedure (anaesthesia, surgery and immunosuppression side-effects) and to the intensive insulin therapy management.
