NCT00000751
To evaluate the effect of anti-HIV immune serum globulin (HIVIG) versus immune globulin (IVIG) administered during pregnancy and to the newborn, in combination with zidovudine (AZT) administered intrapartum and to the newborn, on incidence of HIV infection in infants born to HIV-infected women who received AZT during pregnancy for medical indications. Vertical transmission of HIV from mother to child may occur before, during, or after parturition (via breast-feeding). It is believed that therapy administered both during pregnancy and intrapartum may help prevent vertical transmission. Additionally, adjunctive short-term antiretroviral therapy for the newborn, following the intensive viral exposure presumed to occur at birth, may be necessary.
NCT00139685
To evaluate and compare Bone Mineral Density (BMD) in adolescent Depo-Provera Contraceptive Injection (DP150CI) users during depo medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) therapy and following discontinuation of DMPA. Another group electing non-hormonal contraception or abstinence will be recruited as a reference population, across all study sites. The primary variable is BMD, measured by Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA). Secondary variables are: Total Body Composition\& Total Body Calcium (TBC), measured by Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA), and surrogate biologic BMD markers. Safety will be evaluated by adverse event reporting, laboratory evaluations, pregnancies, weight and vital signs.
NCT00751010
The etiology of pain in women with IC is often difficult to identify resulting in unnecessary medical and surgical treatments (e.g. hysterectomies). The vulva may actually be the site of some of the reported pain in women with IC, not the urethra or bladder. IC and vulvodynia can impact one's sexual functioning and diminish one's quality of life. Unfortunately, vulvodynia is often unrecognized since it is not part of the usual urological assessment with IC patients. Vulvodynia is characterized by persistent generalized or localized vulvar pain of varying degrees often characterized as "burning," suggestive of a neuropathic pain response.
NCT00036283
Reduction in size and number of oral premalignant lesions
NCT00228930
The purpose of this research is to try to identify which women who take tamoxifen are likely to suffer from hot flashes or are more likely to have other side effects or benefits from the drug. The researchers will do so by determining whether there are mutations that normally occur in human DNA that might influence the way individuals respond to medications.
NCT00133224
The primary objective of this study is to compare the duration of survival between patients receiving docetaxel in combination with the GVAX® vaccine for prostate cancer versus patients receiving docetaxel and prednisone treatment in patients with prostate cancer who no longer respond to hormone therapy, who have documented metastases with pain. Patients may have had up to one prior non-taxane chemotherapy treatment.
NCT00150410
* Whether a combination of three therapies - metformin and a sulfonylurea plus Exubera, an investigational drug, controls your diabetes at least as much as a triple combination therapy of metformin and a sulfonylurea plus Avandia, a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved drug. * Whether a combination of two therapies - metformin plus Exubera controls your diabetes at least as much as a as a triple combination therapy of metformin and a sulfonylurea plus Avandia.
NCT00328432
To assess the effects of short term administration of celecoxib 400 mg bid between biopsy and reexcision.
NCT00104130
The purpose of this trial is to study KOS-862 in men with metastatic prostate cancer who have failed a docetaxel-containing regimen.
NCT00157690
The primary objective of this study is to determine efficacy of 70 mg alendronate once weekly compared to placebo. This will be measured by percent changes in lumbar spine(LS) bone mineral density(BMD) in adult cystic fibrosis(CF)patients after one year of treatment. The investigators hypothesize that in adult CF patients with osteopenia or osteoporosis, alendronate 70 mg once weekly will produce a mean increase from baseline in lumbar spine BMD that is greater than that observed with placebo at 12 months.
NCT00069901
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of CT-2103 (poly(L)glutamate-paclitaxel) in combination with carboplatin for the treatment of patients with Stage III or IV ovarian or primary peritoneal cancer.
NCT00170469
This is a dose ranging study comparing different vaccine schedules of rPA vaccine, for Anthrax, to the licensed dose of AVA, another Anthrax vaccine. Safety and the capability to induce an immune response will be evaluated.
NCT00109655
The main purpose of this research study is to evaluate the safety and dosing of CG0070.
NCT00290862
Doctors are studying an investigational treatment to be used during the vertebroplasty procedure when treating vertebral compression fractures (spine fractures) that may help to reduce pain and restore mobility. If one has experienced back pain for at least 4 weeks but not longer than 1 year, he/she may be eligible to participate. The purpose of this protocol is to describe the methods for the clinical evaluation of Cortoss for vertebroplasty in patients with painful osteoporotic compression fractures. Eligible patients with painful osteoporotic compression fractures of the spine are divided into two groups. Each enrolled patient will have the vertebroplasty procedure; however one group of patients will have the vertebroplasty procedure using polymethylmethacrylate \[PMMA\] (a Food and Drug Administration \[FDA\]-approved bone cement) and the other group of patients will have the vertebroplasty procedure using a relatively new (investigational) biomaterial called Cortoss.
NCT00092001
The purpose of this study is to test whether SU011248 has activity and is safe in patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who have failed a platinum-containing regimen and docetaxel.
NCT00352742
The purpose of this study is to describe the safety and effect of ATN-224 in combination with bortezomib (Velcade®) in patients with Multiple Myeloma who are relapsed from or refractory to bortezomib.
NCT00471172
The aim of the study was to compare 5 methods of delivering a weight loss lifestyle modification program to obese patients on a background of sibutramine. The methods differed in the type and frequency of counseling utilized to deliver dietary, physical activity and behavioral recommendations for weight loss.
NCT00150319
This is a study to investigate the pharmacokinetics, safety and tolerability of intravenous voriconazole and SBECD in patients with moderate renal insufficiency
NCT00131066
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term safety and profile of psoriasis patients who have completed participation in a previous study and who received treatment with MEDI-507.
NCT00681759
The purpose of this study is to investigate the burden of upper gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with cardiovascular disease taking low dose aspirin
