NCT00006708
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Monoclonal antibodies such as rituximab can locate cancer cells and either kill them or deliver cancer-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. It is not yet known whether combination chemotherapy is more effective with or without rituximab for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy with or without rituximab in treating patients who have relapsed or refractory non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
NCT00002552
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining bone marrow transplantation with chemotherapy may allow doctors to give higher doses of chemotherapy and kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying the side effects of giving a bone marrow transplant together with chemotherapy and to see how well it works in treating patients with refractory non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma, or multiple myeloma.
NCT00369109
RATIONALE: Studying samples of tumor tissue from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors identify and learn more about biomarkers related to cancer. PURPOSE: This laboratory study is collecting skin biopsy specimens from patients receiving irinotecan or gemcitabine for advanced solid tumors and using them to study change in DNA due to this treatment.
NCT00238329
RATIONALE: PEG-interferon alfa-2b may interfere with the growth of tumor cells. Biological therapies, such as thalidomide, may stimulate the immune system in different ways and stop tumor cells from growing. PEG-interferon alfa-2b and thalidomide may also stop the growth of melanoma by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Giving PEG-interferon alfa-2b together with thalidomide may be an effective treatment for melanoma. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving PEG-interferon alfa-2b together with thalidomide works in treating patients with recurrent or metastatic melanoma.
NCT00258232
RATIONALE: Celecoxib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as capecitabine and irinotecan, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving celecoxib together with capecitabine and irinotecan may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving celecoxib together with capecitabine and irinotecan works in treating patients with recurrent or metastatic colorectal cancer.
NCT00243048
RATIONALE: Eating a diet high in soy foods may slow the progression of some types of cancer. Isoflavones are compounds found in soy food that may slow the growth of prostate cancer cells and prevent further development of prostate cancer. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Giving isoflavones together with radiation therapy may be an effective treatment for prostate cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying the side effects and how well giving isoflavones together with radiation therapy works in treating patients with localized prostate cancer.
NCT00016185
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of combining flavopiridol and docetaxel in treating patients who have advanced solid tumors.
NCT00054405
Phase I trial to compare the effectiveness of interleukin-12 with or without interleukin-2 in treating young patients who have refractory or recurrent neuroblastoma. Biological therapies use different ways to stimulate the immune system and stop cancer cells from growing. Combining interleukin-2 with interleukin-12 may kill more tumor cells.
NCT00205777
The purpose of this study is to determine whether bazedoxifene acetate is safe and effective in the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
NCT00704080
The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and tolerability of XL765 in combination with Temozolomide in adults with anaplastic gliomas or glioblastoma on a stable Temozolomide maintenance dose. XL765 is a new chemical entity that inhibits the kinases PI3K and mTOR. In preclinical studies, inactivation of PI3K has been shown to inhibit growth and induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) in tumor cells, whereas inactivation of mTOR has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells. Temozolomide (TMZ, Temodar®) is an orally administered alkylating agent with activity against malignant gliomas. It is approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the following indications: 1) treatment of newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) patients when given concomitantly with radiotherapy and then as maintenance treatment; 2) refractory anaplastic astrocytoma (AA), ie, patients who have experienced disease progression on a drug regimen containing nitrosourea and procarbazine. Temozolomide is commonly used in the treatment of other anaplastic gliomas (AG) including oligodendroglial tumors and mixed gliomas.
NCT00935649
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of the PathoLase FootLaser treatment of infected toenails.
NCT00688584
The major objective of this proposal is to conduct a randomized controlled trial of an ultra-brief, personalized feedback intervention (a pamphlet) for problem drinkers. Subjects will be recruited via a telephone survey which will collect baseline data. The households of half of the subjects will receive the pamphlet as unaddressed ad mail shortly thereafter. Follow-up interviews will be conducted, by telephone, three and six months after the mailing of the pamphlets. Hypothesis 1: Respondents from households who receive the pamphlet will display significantly improved drinking outcomes at the three-month and six-month follow-ups as compared to respondents from households in the no intervention control condition. Hypothesis 2: More calls will be received on a help-line listed on the pamphlet (and advertised elsewhere) from residents of households who receive the pamphlet as compared to residents from households who do not receive the pamphlet. Hypotheses 3 - 6 deal with mediator and moderator hypotheses, exploring the role of perceived risk, perceived drinking norms, and drinking for social reasons.
NCT00549302
Study to determine the long term safety of tadalafil in patients with increased blood pressure in the blood vessel that carries blood from the right heart to the lungs and to see if it will keep the disease from getting worse.
NCT00002563
RATIONALE: Quality-of-life assessment in patients undergoing cancer treatment may help determine the intermediate- and long-term effects of treatment on patients with cancer. PURPOSE: This clinical trial studies the impact of therapy on the health status and quality of life of patients with stage I or stage II Hodgkin's disease who are receiving radiation therapy with or without chemotherapy.

Temsirolimus may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Giving temsirolimus together with temozolomide and radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells.
NCT00585169
The goal of the proposed study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the drug memantine in individuals with pathological gambling (PG). Thirty subjects with DSM-IV PG will receive 10 weeks of open-label treatment with memantine. The hypothesis to be tested is that memantine will be effective and well tolerated in patients with PG. We hypothesize that memantine will reduce the severity of gambling symptoms and improve patients' overall functioning. This study will provide needed data on the treatment of a disabling disorder that currently lacks a clearly effective treatment.
