The purpose of this study is to assess whether glycemic control (assessed with HbA1c measurement) in individuals with type 1 or type 2 diabetes can be improved with a point-of-care measurement of HbA1c in the ophthalmologist's office combined with a personalized risk assessment for diabetic retinopathy and other complications of diabetes.

This open-label study will assess the pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics and safety of intravenous (iv) Tamiflu (oseltamivir) in 3 cohorts of children, aged 6-12, 3-5 and 1-2 years, with influenza infection. Patients will receive iv Tamiflu therapy for 5 days (10 doses). For patients whose conditions no longer merit continued iv dosing, therapy may be switched to oral Tamiflu to complete their prescribed course of treatment. If medically necessary, iv or oral therapy with Tamiflu may be continued for up to 5 additional days. Anticipated time on study treatment is 5 to 10 days.

Asthma is a chronic lung disease that inflames and narrows the airways. Symptoms can include recurring periods of wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and coughing. Minority, inner city teens are at increased risk for complications from the disease, possibly because of poor illness management. The purpose of this study is to test the effectiveness of Multisystemic Therapy (MST)-an intensive, home- and community-based psychotherapy-for improving asthma management and overall health and for reducing healthcare costs for inner city African American teens with asthma.

RATIONALE: ZD6474 may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. ZD6474 may also stop the growth of small cell lung cancer by blocking blood flow to the tumor. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying how well ZD6474 works compared to placebo in treating patients with small cell lung cancer that has responded to previous chemotherapy with or without radiation therapy.

Surgery has been the standard of care for esophageal cancer for many years, with limited success. At present, several studies are underway nationwide which utilize chemotherapy combined with radiation therapy prior to the usual surgical regimen. Although this treatment offers some possibility for improvement of patients with esophageal cancer, there remains a significant need for development of new drugs that can substantially impact survival Investigators at the University of Michigan have been evaluating inhibitors of tumor blood vessel growth (angiogenesis). Specifically, they are evaluating the role of copper in angiogenesis. Copper has been shown to be both a requirement and a potent stimulus for angiogenesis. Previous studies have shown Tetrathiomolybdate (TM) to rapidly lower copper levels in the blood. The physicians at the University of Michigan are studying whether the addition of TM to the chemoradiation and surgery may increase survival for patients with esophageal cancer.

This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study will evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of RO5036505 in patients with inadequately controlled moderate to severe asthma. Patients will be randomized to receive either RO5036505 (380mg iv infusion once weekly) or placebo for 8 weeks. Patients will be on a standardized inhaled corticosteroid/long-acting beta-agonist regimen during study treatment. Target sample size is 50-100 individuals.

This is a multicenter, open label Phase 1b/2 study in patients with metastatic colorectal carcinoma. The Phase 1b will identify the dose of the combination of PF-05212384 plus FOLFIRI. The randomized, two-arm Phase 2 portion will compare the efficacy and safety of PF-05212384 plus FOLFIRI to that of bevacizumab plus FOLFIRI. The study population will consist of patients with mCRC previously treated with an oxaliplatin-based regimen in the first line setting or who have progressed within 6 months of the end of an adjuvant oxaliplatin-based regimen.

The goal of this multi-center Phase II study is to add bortezomib to the highly active regimen of bendamustine and rituximab. In this study, bortezomib will be administered on a weekly schedule (Days 1, 8, 15) and will be added to bendamustine/rituximab given in 4-week cycles. This combination uses the standard bendamustine dosing schedule, and is more convenient than the 5-week regimen of these 3 drugs currently being studied.

This single arm study will evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of a new investigational protease inhibitor (PI) plus background antiretrovirals plus Fuzeon (90mg sc bid) in HIV-1 infected, triple-class treatment-experienced, Fuzeon-naive adults. The new investigational PI will be administered according to the procedures of the early access program in which the patient is enrolled. The anticipated time on study treatment is 3-12 months, and the target sample size is approximately 120 individuals.

This is a randomized, parallel group, placebo-controlled study designed to assess whether GSK239512 can enhance lesion remyelination in subjects with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS). Subjects with RRMS on stable background treatment with either Avonex (Interferon-beta1a) or Copaxone (Glatiramer Acetate) are eligible to participate. Subjects will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio between placebo and GSK239512, and will continue to be managed with their current standard of care therapy (Copaxone or Avonex). The total treatment period is 48 weeks, including a standard 4 week titration period and 44 week maintenance treatment period (which could be adapted to a 5-week titration and 43 week maintenance period, if needed). Titration doses start at 10 micrograms (mcg) and increase up to 80 mcg (10 mcg first week, 20 mcg second week, 40 mcg third week, 80 mcg fourth week). Subjects will be titrated to the maximum tolerated dose with the objective of titrating to the highest dose (80 mcg GSK239512), whenever possible, based on investigator judgement of tolerability. The post-treatment follow-up period will be a minimum of 2 weeks in duration following the end of treatment at Week 48 or early withdrawal, as appropriate.

This study aims to validate the use of laser in vivo confocal microscopy as an early diagnostic and differentiation tool of pigmented conjunctival lesions, evaluate the efficacy of in vivo confocal microscopy for follow-up (as a visualizing tool) after tumor resection for early detection of tumor recurrence, and to evaluate the use of in vivo confocal microscopy in evaluation of response to treatment. The modified technique with Heidelberg Retina Tomography (HRT) confocal microscopy and anterior segment optical coherence tomography (OCT) are non-invasive, no-touch, imaging techniques that may help in differentiation of benign lesions like nevi or racial melanosis, from malignant lesions like primary acquired melanosis and malignant melanomas. The OCT will potentially allow to estimate tumor depth in vivo as preliminary studies have shown.

This is an open-label, single-sequence DDI study designed to examine the effects of dupilumab on the pharmacokinetics of selected cytochrome P450 substrates in adult patients with moderate to severe AD. The study consists of a screening period (day -35 to -2), study period 1 (day -1 to 7), study period 2 (day 8 to 50), and a follow-up period (day 51 to 135 \[end of study\]). Following completion of study period 2 (Day 50), patients will be given the option to enroll into the Open-Label Extension (OLE) study R668-AD-1225. Patients who decline will be followed for the next 12 weeks (Day 135).
