NCT00489411
RATIONALE: Duloxetine may lessen peripheral neuropathy caused by chemotherapy. It is not yet known whether duloxetine is more effective than a placebo in treating peripheral neuropathy caused by chemotherapy. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying duloxetine to see how well it works compared with a placebo in treating peripheral neuropathy caused by chemotherapy in patients with cancer.
NCT01572792
The purpose of this Phase III study is to evaluate the long-term safety and tolerability of two fixed-dose combinations of inhaled aclidinium bromide/formoterol fumarate, aclidinium bromide, formoterol fumarate and placebo in patients with moderate to severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Long-term efficacy, pharmacoeconomic and health-related quality of life assessments will also be evaluated. This extension study will include a 28 week treatment period, followed by a four week follow up visit. All patients will remain in the same treatment group as for the lead-in study and continue on one of the four treatment arms or placebo.
NCT01044459
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability and efficacy of inhaled aclidinium bromide at two dose levels in patients with moderate to severe, stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The study will be 56 weeks in duration; a 2-week rin-in period, a 52-week treatment period and a 2-week follow up phone call. All patients will be randomized to one of two doses of aclidinium bromide.
NCT01571934
Hemophilia A is a genetic deficiency of factor VIII that causes blood to clot too slowly. The disease is classified based on how much factor VIII is in the blood. People with mild or moderate hemophilia A have low, but detectable, blood levels of factor VIII and bleed with trauma or surgery. At the time of surgery, they need to receive factor VIII replacement by infusion into the vein so that blood can clot normally and abnormal bleeding can be avoided. A complication of hemophilia A is the development of an antibody that binds factor VIII and makes the factor VIII infused for treatment not work properly. This antibody is called an inhibitor. In mild and moderate hemophilia A, inhibitors are not common, but have been reported to occur after intensive factor VIII infusions, as may occur at the time of surgery. This study is designed to observe people with mild and moderate hemophilia A who are having surgery. Information on the surgery, treatments given, bleeding, and infection will be gathered. Also, blood will be drawn to determine how the immune system is reacting to the factor VIII. No specific treatments will be given as part of this study. We will use the information to determine what influences inhibitor development. A better understanding of inhibitor development will help medical providers do things to avoid inhibitor development in this population or researchers to design new treatments.
NCT01102374
This study will test the role of high dose vitamin D supplementation in prevention of acute respiratory infection in older nursing home residents. The investigators hypothesize that residents on high dose vitamin D supplementation will have a lower incidence of acute respiratory infection that those on standard dose vitamin D supplementation.
NCT00434213
This is a study designed to characterize the dermal response of DAYTRANA. Subjects will visit the study site over a period of approximately 14 weeks.
NCT00289133
The purpose of this study is to evaluate long-term clinical and radiographic data between geometrically identical GVF and cross-linked polyethylene-bearing inserts in total knee arthroplasty.
NCT01160601
This is a randomized, open-label, multicenter, phase 2 study comparing Paclitaxel/Carboplatin with or without bavituximab in patients that have previously untreated locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
NCT00499863
To assess the efficacy and safety of efficacy of MTS compared to placebo
NCT01715519
The purpose of this study is to determine whether vilazodone is effective in the treatmen of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)and co-morbid mild or more depression.
NCT01590615
This registry will remain open for approximately 5 years (4 years of enrollment + 1 year of follow up). Subjects will be followed until Orthotopic Liver Transplant (OLT), resolution of liver decompensation, death, or conclusion of the registry.
NCT02290821
This study will assess the analgesic efficacy of DSG 1% compared to placebo in the reduction of the pain associated with acute blunt trauma injuries.
NCT01383343
This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of sorafenib tosylate when given together with bevacizumab, irinotecan hydrochloride, leucovorin calcium, and fluorouracil in treating patients with colorectal cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as irinotecan hydrochloride, leucovorin calcium, and fluorouracil, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Sorafenib tosylate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Sorafenib tosylate and bevacizumab may also block tumor growth in different ways by targeting certain cells. Giving sorafenib tosylate and bevacizumab together with combination chemotherapy may be a better treatment for colorectal cancer.
NCT01482390
This randomized, double-blind, multi-center, parallel-group study will evaluate the sustained virologic response and the safety of mericitabine (RO5024048) (MCB) in combination with telaprevir (TVR) and peginterferon Alfa-2a (PEG-IFN) / ribavirin (RBV) in participants with chronic Hepatitis C infection.
NCT01830920
The purpose of this study is to determine whether THR-184 when administered around the time of cardiac surgery that requires cardiopulmonary bypass can prevent or ameliorate the development of acute kidney injury.
NCT00831779
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of dapagliflozin on insulin sensitivity
NCT02511613
The purpose of this study is to evaluate anatomical and functional effect of combination therapy of Squalamine Lactate Ophthalmic Solution, 0.2% administered twice daily with monthly ranibizumab intravitreal injections in patients with choroidal neovascularization due to AMD.
NCT01635712
Hsp90 is a chemical in the body that is involved int he promotion of cancer. SNX-5422 is an experimental drug that blocks Hsp90.
NCT01727999
Introduction: Ineffective platelet production has been proven to play a role in the etiology of Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) in addition to increased platelet destruction. The second-generation thrombopoietin (TPO) mimetics have shown good efficacy in boosting platelet counts in the great majority of patients with chronic ITP in several clinical trials.1, 2 Nevertheless, about 20% of patients with ITP fail to respond to the TPO mimetic treatment. Those treatment-resistant patients are un-characterized and the reasons for the lack of response have not been studied. The identification of predictive blood biomarkers of patients' response to treatment will be useful in reducing both cost and potential side effects; and it will be of equal importance and interest to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the patients' heterogeneous responses to TPO mimetic treatment. Specific Aims: 1. To identify blood classifier genes which correlate with patients' response to TPO mimetic treatment. 2. To compare the blood gene expression changes in responders and non-responders after TPO mimetic treatment and explore the possible molecular mechanisms accounting for the non-responsiveness to the treatment.
NCT01085045
The purpose of this study is to evaluate, after 1 week of dosing, the efficacy and safety of PT003 compared with its individual components (PT001 and PT005), placebo and two active comparators to demonstrate superiority of the combination to its components, and to assess the relative contribution of the components compared with placebo, in patients with moderate to very severe COPD.
