NCT01090362
The Global Anticoagulant Registry in the FIELD-Atrial Fibrillation (GARFIELD-AF Registry) is a non-interventional, observational study that characterized a global population of non-valvular atrial fibrillation patients. The registry was used to document global baseline characteristics, current treatment strategies and outcome measures. Characterisation of a number of AF sub-populations was also completed. GARFIELD-AF is an independent academic research initiative sponsored by the Thrombosis Research Institute (London, UK) and supported by an unrestricted research grant from Bayer AG (Berlin, Germany).
NCT02317432
The primary intervention offered through this study is a manualized and culturally adapted CBT intervention combined with an exercise intervention, administered by trained Community Health Workers and exercise trainers to ethnic minority elders with moderate to severe mood symptoms and at risk of disability. In addition to the intervention implementation, the study examines how to successfully build collaborative research for the provision of evidence-based mental health and disability prevention treatments for ethnic minority elders in community-based settings. Thus, the study will evaluate the three components necessary for a successful intervention: efficacy, since the intervention must work, acceptability among clients and partnering agencies, and feasibility and sustainability within the organization.
NCT02522884
This is a prospective, multi-center, single-arm, non-blinded study designed to investigate the safety and efficacy of the Tack Endovascular System in subjects with post-balloon angioplasty (post-PTA) dissection(s) type(s) A through F in the superficial femoral and proximal popliteal arteries ranging in diameter from 2.5mm to 6.0mm.
NCT00879060
Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common genetic cardiomyopathy and remains the leading cause of sudden cardiac death in young people and an important cause of heart failure symptoms and death at any age. In HCM, pathological remodeling of the left ventricle involving myocardial fibrosis is likely a major contributor to cardiac dysfunction and also a nidus for the generation of ventricular arrhythmias. Serum markers of collagen turnover have been shown to reliably reflect the magnitude of myocardial fibrosis in a variety of cardiovascular diseases. In addition, aldosterone antagonist drugs have been shown to decrease fibrous tissue formation in the myocardium in certain pathologic cardiovascular states in which aldosterone production is increased. In HCM, aldosterone production is up-regulated and has been implicated in the formation of myocardial fibrosis. Therefore, the specific aims of this proposal are to: 1. assess serum markers of collagen turnover at baseline and correlate these findings with a variety of clinical and morphologic disease parameters 2. examine the effects of a 12-month treatment with the aldosterone antagonist spironolactone on magnitude of fibrosis as measured by serum markers of collagen turnover as well as changes in clinical and morphologic disease parameters. 3. explore the effects of a 12-month treatment with aldosterone antagonist spironolactone on heart failure status, diastolic function, arrhythmic burden, and total LV mass and quantity of fibrosis by CMR. The results of this proposal will offer important insights into the clinical significance of myocardial fibrosis in this primary genetic cardiomyopathy. The demonstration that spironolactone decreases fibrosis and improves clinical course would provide the rational for a larger multicenter clinical trial evaluating this novel therapy for improving clinical outcome in patients with HCM.
NCT02228408
This study is a pilot study designed to compare the safety and cardiovascular effects of 26 weeks of combination hydralazine/isorsorbide dinitrate therapy with placebo therapy in patients receiving chronic hemodialysis. The investigators hypothesize that treatment of chronic hemodialysis (ESRD) patients with a combination of hydralazine/isosorbide dinitrate compared with placebo is safe and that it will improve heart function as well blood flow/blood vessel supply.
NCT03033680
The specific aims of the study are: Primary: To determine the presence and regional distribution of microglial activation, as assessed by \[F-18\]PBR06 PET, in subjects with MSA as compared to healthy controls, at baseline and at 9 months follow-up. Secondary: To assess the relationship between microglial activation and clinical progression at baseline and follow-up. Hypothesis: The working hypothesis is that there is microglial activation in Multiple System Atrophy and that the presence and regional distribution of microglial activation is different in MSA versus healthy controls and correlates with disease severity and comorbidities.
NCT01125293
The purpose of this research study is to test the safety of the combination of everolimus, rituximab and bortezomib. Everolimus is a drug that works by preventing cells in your body from growing and dividing. Information from basic and other clinical research suggests that everolimus may also inhibit tumor growth in people with relapsed or refractory lymphoma. The FDA has approved everolimus for the treatment of multiple myeloma, a cancer that is closely related to Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia. Rituximab is approved by the FDA for the treatment of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, which included Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia. Funding Source - FDA OOPD
NCT03054389
The purpose of this study is to seek to understand the patient's perspective around deciding to participate in a clinical trial for a Hemophilia therapy
NCT01893359
The objectives of this study are to evaluate the safety and efficacy, with regards to regression of refractive outcome, as measured by manifest refraction spherical equivalent (MRSE), of two treatment regimens for hyperopic and hyperopic astigmatic subjects: LASIK followed by cross-linking performed with the KXL System and Photrexa ZD™ (Riboflavin Ophthalmic Solution), as compared to LASIK alone.
NCT01972854
The objectives of this study are to evaluate the safety and efficacy of corneal collagen cross-linking performed with VibeX (riboflavin ophthalmic solution) and the KXL System as compared to placebo in impeding the progression of, and/or reducing, maximum corneal curvature.
NCT03259308
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of SHP647 in inducing remission, based on composite score of patient-reported symptoms and centrally read endoscopy, in participants with moderate to severe ulcerative colitis (UC).
NCT03029585
This study will evaluate NanoPac® administered intraperitoneally (IP) immediately post-cytoreductive surgery, followed by standard of care (SOC) intravenous (IV) chemotherapy, in women with ovarian cancer. The study will compare IP NanoPac® (plus IV chemotherapy) with SOC IV chemotherapy alone.
NCT00717769
The purpose of the study is to explore the efficacy and safety of SUN13834 vs placebo in adult participants with atopic dermatitis.
NCT03203629
To conduct a prospective, observational study to evaluate the non-interventional feasibility of using heart sounds measurements recorded by the LifeVest® Wearable Cardioverter Defibrillator (WCD) for monitoring clinical evidence of heart failure decompensation.
NCT00866307
This pilot clinical trial studies the side effects of pegaspargase when given together with combination chemotherapy in treating patients with newly diagnosed high-risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Pegaspargase may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving more than one drug (combination chemotherapy) together with pegaspargase may kill more cancer cells.
NCT03317444
This is a multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-design study. The study will enroll approximately 210 adult male and female subjects with stage 3 or 4 chronic kidney disease and metabolic acidosis. The study dosing (TRC101 or placebo) will continue for 12 weeks once daily. The maximum study duration is anticipated to be up to 16 weeks.
NCT02661217
