NCT00289302
Heart failure is a progressive disease that decreases the pumping action of the heart. This may cause a backup of fluid in the heart and may result in heart beat changes. When there are changes in the heart beat sometimes an implantable heart device is used to control the rate and rhythm of the heart beat. In certain heart failure cases, when the two lower chambers of the heart no longer beat in a coordinated manner, cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) may be prescribed. CRT is similar to a pacemaker. It is placed (implanted) under the skin of the upper chest. CRT is delivered as tiny electrical pulses to the right and left ventricles through three or four leads (soft insulated wires) that are inserted through the veins to the heart. People who have a dangerously fast heart beat, or whose heart is at risk of stopping beating, may be in need of an electronic device called an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). An ICD is implanted surgically just under the skin in the upper chest area and it sends a strong electrical impulse, or shock, to the heart to return it to a normal rhythm. If the heart is beating too slowly or at an abnormal rhythm, an ICD can also pace the heart to return the heart to its normal rhythm. The InSync ICD device can change the timing of when the left and right ventricles of the heart are paced to beat. The purpose of this study is to monitor the long-term performance of the InSync ICD Model 7272 and the InSync Marquis 7277 systems for cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT).
NCT00335933
Gabapentin and pregabalin are treatments for some types of neuropathic pain, including postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). However, these treatments usually need to be taken 3 times a day for effective pain control. The purpose of this study is to determine whether a new gabapentin tablet, which only needs to be taken once or twice a day, is safe and effective for the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia.

NCT00110864
This study is designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of PN2034 in insulin-dependent type 2 diabetics as measured by the change in average daily insulin dose from baseline to week 12. The effects of PN2034 on HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose (FPG), and lipid levels will also be measured.
NCT00110851
This study is designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of PN2034 administered to type 2 diabetics on concomitant rosiglitazone and metformin (or Avandamet) therapy as measured by change in glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels from baseline to Week 12. Also the study will evaluate the effect of PN2034 on glucose control as measured by fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and on fasting lipid levels: triglycerides, total cholesterol, high-density lipoproteins (HDL), low-density lipoproteins (LDL), and very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL).
NCT00068861
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder affecting up to 10% of women. The primary symptoms of PCOS are menstrual irregularities, increased body and facial hair, acne, and infertility. This study will test a combination of medications in women with PCOS to determine which works best to overcome infertility.
NCT00041626
There is a need for more treatment options for patients with recurrent squamous cell cancer of the head and neck (SCCHN). These tumors usually have a variety of genetic defects that include disruption of the p53 pathway, a pathway that would ordinarily work to prevent the development of tumors. In this study the transfer of the p53 gene to tumor cells using a modified adenovirus (INGN 201) in combination with chemotherapy (cisplatin and fluorouracil) will be compared to chemotherapy with cisplatin and fluorouracil in patients who have failed surgery and radiotherapy.
NCT00294541
This trial is a follow-up companion study to Protocol ICA-17043-10, a Phase III, multi-center, efficacy and safety study of ICA-17043. This is an open-label extension study collecting safety data on the use of ICA-17043 in subjects with sickle cell disease (SCD) (e.g., HbSS, HbSC, HbSb0-thalassemia, HbSb+-thalassemia subjects). All subjects who have successfully completed ICA-17043-10 will, if deemed appropriate by their study Investigator and appropriate consent by subject is given, enroll in the ICA-17043-12 study (Study 12). Only patients who participated in ICA-17043-10 are eligible for this open label study
NCT00266669
The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of a topical gel formulation of nitroglycerin, in comparison to a matching placebo, for patients with moderate to severe primary Raynaud's phenomenon or patients with Raynaud's phenomenon secondary to autoimmune diseases, such as scleroderma.
NCT00195780
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the long-term safety profile of the Investigational Medication Depakote ER in the treatment of Bipolar I Disorder, manic or mixed episode, in children and adolescents ages 10-17.
NCT00490191
This study tested whether a dose regimen of growth hormone based on body weight is equivalent or better than starting with a low dose and gradually increasing the dose according to individual patient needs. Efficacy of the two regimens were assessed from changes in body fat measured by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scanning, performed at the beginning of the study and at the completion of the study eight months later.
NCT00105313
For primary objectives, we will determine the MTD and examine clinical responses and immune cell populations to determine an OBD, and describe the safety and tolerability of MEDI-507. For the secondary objectives we will look at the antitumor activity of MEDI 507, PK, serum concentrations, and immunogenicity of MEDI-507, as well as time courses of depletion and recovery of CD2 positive and total T-Cell populations.
NCT00002168
The purpose of this study is to compare the safety and effectiveness of two anti-HIV drug combinations when given to HIV-infected patients who have never been treated with anti-HIV drugs. One drug combination is stavudine (d4T) plus didanosine (ddI) plus Crixivan. The other combination is Retrovir (AZT) plus Epivir (3TC) plus Crixivan.
NCT00264433
N-cadherin, a protein involved in blood vessel cell binding, is increased as cancer progresses, and is on the surface of many tumor cells. ADH-1 blocks N-cadherin. This study will test the safety and effects of ADH-1 in subjects with specific incurable, solid tumors with a protein biomarker called N-cadherin. This study will examine the clinical activity of ADH-1.
NCT00121979
Racivir ® (RCV) is an experimental drug which means it is not approved for use by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but it can be used in research studies like this one. RCV (Racivir®) is part of a class of drugs known as "Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitors" (NRTIs), which are intended to block a further increase in the amount of HIV virus in the body. Laboratory research suggests that RCV (Racivir®) may be effective in patients who have developed resistance to other NRTIs, particularly 3TC (lamivudine, Epivir®). However, a study of RCV (Racivir®) has not been done with patients who have previously been treated with other HAART (Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy -- taking multiple HIV drugs at once) medications including 3TC (lamivudine, Epivir®). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of RCV (Racivir®) when used together with other HIV drugs in people who have previously been treated with 3TC (lamivudine, Epivir®) and are failing with their current HAART treatments. This study will include a total of 60 HIV infected, HAART-experienced subjects currently receiving 3TC (lamivudine, Epivir®) as part of their HAART therapy. The study will take place at approximately 11 study sites in the US and Latin America.
