NCT00048750
The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy and safety of intravenous micafungin versus placebo as prophylactic therapy for invasive fungal infections in patients in the intensive care unit considered to be at high risk.
NCT00440947
This study was designed to test the efficacy, safety, tolerability and durability of the antiviral response between atazanavir (ATV) + ritonavir (/r) + abacavir/lamivudine(ABC/3TC) Fixed dose combination (FDC) each administered once daily (QD) for 36 weeks followed by randomization to either a simplification regimen of ATV or continuation of ATV +/r for an additional 48 weeks, each in combination with ABC/3TC in antiretroviral (ART)-naive, HIV-1 infected, HLA-B\*5701 negative subjects. All subjects who complete the 84-week study will be eligible to enter the treatment extension phase and continue for an additional 60 weeks. The purpose of this extension is to obtain longer term treatment data in subjects who have completed the 84-week study.
NCT00229879
The purpose of this study is to do a literature review and combine all of the cases of the intrapericardial teratoma tumor and see if some conclusions can be made about this rare tumor in children.
NCT00215072
The purpose of this study is to elucidate the patterns of death following congenital heart surgery.
NCT00229905
The purpose is to see if any conclusions can be drawn about the uncommon heart defect: anomalous drainage of the inferior vena cava to the left atrium.
NCT00327795
Recently, a paper was published that compared outcomes of patients requiring repair of aortic coarctation and ventricular septal defect. Some surgeons opt to repair both defects in one surgery while other surgeons do the repair in two separate operations. Recently at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, we have adopted the practice of correcting both defects during the same operation but through two separate incisions (one on the chest and the other through the ribs on the side. This reduces the amount of time the patient is on the heart-lung bypass machine during surgery. This study is a review of patient charts to compare outcomes of patients who have had surgery to repair their coarctation and VSD during 2002 through 2005.
NCT00485524
Mortality after neonatal cardiac repair remains significant, and neonates who have undergone operative repair of congenital heart disease may experience sudden and unexpected demise. Most of these deaths occur within the first 72 hours and have been attributed to poor systemic cardiac output. The literature currently does not define an early and reliable predictor of poor post-operative outcome in children with congenital heart disease who have recently undergone surgery. The investigator wishes to perform a retrospective chart review to independently define the predictive values of both NIRS score and serial serum lactate levels in the setting of early post-operative morbidity.
NCT00215085
The purpose of this study is to define the natural history of untreated cardiac tumors, study the pathology of primary cardiac tumors, review the surgical treatment and results of primary cardiac tumors and to determine the prognosis for these tumors.
NCT00702507
The purpose of this study is to determine whether repeated use of 0.25% miconazole nitrate ointment in newborns and infants with a yeast infection in the diaper area causes the yeast to become resistant to the drug.
NCT00270894
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness and tolerability of the combination of the following medications given every two weeks in HER2 positive breast cancer patients: * trastuzumab (Herceptin) * epirubicin (Ellence) * cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan) * docetaxel (Taxotere)
NCT00224055
This study compares the effect of Ferrlecit® (a form of intravenous iron) to ferrous sulfate (a form of oral iron) in treating anemia and iron deficiency in chronic kidney disease patients who are not receiving erythropoietic agents (hormones that stimulate the bone marrow to make more red blood cells).
NCT00665535
The purpose of the study is to determine the optimal frequency of repositioning nursing facility residents with limited mobility who are cared for on a high density foam mattress in order to prevent bed sores. It is hypothesized that participants at moderate risk (Braden Scale Scores 13-14) who are turned every 3 or 4 hours and participants at high risk (Braden Scores 10-12) turned every 3 or 4 hours will not have a higher incidence of ulcers than those residents turned every 2 hours.
NCT00036153
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of the combination of tacrolimus + methotrexate compared to methotrexate alone in the treatment of the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis over 6 months in patients with partial response to methotrexate.
NCT00925990
The study is intended to determine whether CTS-1027 either alone or in combination with ribavirin is safe and effective in Hepatitis C patients who have not previously been treated with interferon.
NCT01359579
The purpose of this study is to compare and evaluate the pharmacokinetic characteristics and the safety of varespladib methyl in mild or moderate renal impairment patients and healthy volunteers.
NCT00501462
This is an open-label study that will measure blood levels of different parts of a drug called GKS189075. People participating in this study will receive a single dose of 250mg GSK189075 by mouth. About 20 people with mild to moderate decrease in renal (kidney) function will be asked to participate in this study. They will be compared to about 20 healthy participants who are close to the same age and body size. People participating in this study will stay at a clinical research unit beginning 2 days before they receive their single dose of GSK189075 and will remain there until approximately one day after receiving the study drug. During this study urine will be collected beginning the day before receiving study drug until the day after, just prior to leaving the clinical research unit. Blood samples will also be collected at various times beginning immediately before until 24 hours after receiving the study drug.
NCT00215735
Autologous platelet concentrate will enhance the rate of healing of chronic diabetic wounds
NCT00243191
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of imatinib on dermatofibrosarcoma protuberan tumors.
NCT00712816
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a device that delivers cold and intermittent compression as compared to ice and compressive wraps on patients who have undergone knee replacement.
NCT00054223
RATIONALE: Studying individuals who are enrolled in phase I clinical trials may help to improve the way in which clinical trials are conducted. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying patients' personality traits, reasons for participating in the trial, and understanding of their medical situation, prognosis, and risks and benefits of participating in a phase I trial.
