NCT00003386
RATIONALE: Vaccines made from tumor tissue may make the body build an immune response and kill tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of vaccine therapy in treating patients who have stage III or stage IV ovarian epithelial cancer.
NCT00003624
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Chemoprotective drugs, such as amifostine, may protect normal cells from the side effects of chemotherapy. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of amifostine in reducing the risk of side effects caused by cisplatin and paclitaxel in treating women who have ovarian, peritoneal, cervical, fallopian tube, uterine, or endometrial cancer.
NCT00006708
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Monoclonal antibodies such as rituximab can locate cancer cells and either kill them or deliver cancer-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. It is not yet known whether combination chemotherapy is more effective with or without rituximab for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy with or without rituximab in treating patients who have relapsed or refractory non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
NCT00054405
Phase I trial to compare the effectiveness of interleukin-12 with or without interleukin-2 in treating young patients who have refractory or recurrent neuroblastoma. Biological therapies use different ways to stimulate the immune system and stop cancer cells from growing. Combining interleukin-2 with interleukin-12 may kill more tumor cells.
NCT01105546
The study evaluates the efficacy and safety of a prophylactic treatment with recombinant activated FVII in reducing the frequency of joint bleeds and the development of joint damage in children with hemophilia A who develop high-titer inhibitors.
NCT00205777
The purpose of this study is to determine whether bazedoxifene acetate is safe and effective in the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
NCT00003316
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of gemcitabine in treating patients with recurrent or refractory cancer of the uterus.
NCT00002819
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Peripheral stem cell transplantation may be able to replace immune cells that were destroyed by chemotherapy or radiation therapy used to kill tumor cells. It is not yet known whether chemotherapy alone is more effective than chemotherapy plus peripheral stem cell transplantation for ovarian epithelial cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of paclitaxel and carboplatin with that of carboplatin, mitoxantrone, and cyclophosphamide followed by peripheral stem cell transplantation in treating patients who have persistent stage III or stage IV ovarian epithelial cancer.
NCT00704080
The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and tolerability of XL765 in combination with Temozolomide in adults with anaplastic gliomas or glioblastoma on a stable Temozolomide maintenance dose. XL765 is a new chemical entity that inhibits the kinases PI3K and mTOR. In preclinical studies, inactivation of PI3K has been shown to inhibit growth and induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) in tumor cells, whereas inactivation of mTOR has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells. Temozolomide (TMZ, Temodar®) is an orally administered alkylating agent with activity against malignant gliomas. It is approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the following indications: 1) treatment of newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) patients when given concomitantly with radiotherapy and then as maintenance treatment; 2) refractory anaplastic astrocytoma (AA), ie, patients who have experienced disease progression on a drug regimen containing nitrosourea and procarbazine. Temozolomide is commonly used in the treatment of other anaplastic gliomas (AG) including oligodendroglial tumors and mixed gliomas.
NCT01497223
The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the rate of therapeutic cure of the combination treatment of MGCD290 and fluconazole as compared to that of fluconazole alone at Test of Cure Visit for patients with moderate to severe vulvovaginal candidiasis.
NCT00316849
This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of temsirolimus when given together with temozolomide and radiation therapy in treating patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme. Temsirolimus may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Giving temsirolimus together with temozolomide and radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells.
NCT00530270
People with sickle cell disease (SCD) may develop acute chest syndrome (ACS), which is a common and serious lung condition that usually requires hospitalization. Dexamethasone is a medication that may decrease hospitalization time for people with ACS, but it may also bring about new sickle cell pain. This study will evaluate the effectiveness of a dexamethasone regimen that includes a gradual dose reduction at decreasing hospitalization and recovery time in people with SCD and ACS.
NCT00024284
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of combining carboplatin and irinotecan in treating children who have refractory solid tumors.
NCT00828594
Phase 1 Evaluate the safety and tolerability of RAD001 in combination with sorafenib in patients with advance hepatocellular cancer (HCC) and to determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) Phase 2 To estimate the treatment effect as a measure of anti-tumor activity in terms of Time to Progression (TTP) of the combination of RAD001 plus sorafenib, at the MTD, as compared to sorafenib alone
NCT00973817
The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety and efficacy of the use of ELAD in patients with diagnosed Acute On Chronic Hepatitis, including Acute Alcoholic Hepatitis.
NCT00313781
To test the efficacy of CP-751,871 combined with docetaxel and prednisone in the treatment of prostate cancer that is refractory to hormone therapy
NCT00935649
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of the PathoLase FootLaser treatment of infected toenails.
NCT00746616
The purpose of the study is to gather clinical information on the safety and efficacy of the resurfacing devices in the young, active patient with advanced hip disease. Study enrollment has been temporarily suspended due to a change in the surgical technique.
NCT00253617
RATIONALE: Stent placement may help reduce symptoms caused by the tumor. Photodynamic therapy uses a drug, such as porfimer sodium, that becomes active when it is exposed to a certain kind of light. When the drug is active, tumor cells are killed. This may be an effective treatment for cholangiocarcinoma. It is not yet known whether stent placement and photodynamic therapy using porfimer sodium are more effective than stent placement alone in treating cholangiocarcinoma. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying stent placement and photodynamic therapy using porfimer sodium to see how well they work compared to stent placement alone as palliative treatment in treating patients with stage III or stage IV cholangiocarcinoma that cannot be removed by surgery.
NCT00600535
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the pharmacokinetics (how the drug concentrations change over time) of capsule and tablet formulations of CB7630 (abiraterone acetate) taken with and without food in patients with prostate cancer.
