The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy, safety, pharmacokinetics (PK), and immunogenicity of suptavumab (REGN2222) in infants born no more than 35 weeks, 6 days gestational age who are no more than 6 months of age at the time of enrollment in their respective geographic location. In order to optimize the potential benefit in this vulnerable population, we conducted this study during the RSV season using dosing regimens that are expected to be effective.

This phase II trial studies how well dasatinib, nilotinib, and imatinib mesylate works in treating patients with newly diagnosed, previously untreated chronic myeloid leukemia in which fewer than 10% of the cells in the blood and bone marrow are blast cells (immature blood cells) (chronic phase). Dasatinib, nilotinib, and imatinib mesylate may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth.

CSM (Cervical spondylotic myelopathy) is the most common cause of spinal cord injury worldwide. While there is evidence from the recently completed SpineNet prospective study that surgical decompression is an effective treatment for CSM, it is clear that many patients have remaining neurological impairment. While surgery is relatively safe, approximately 3% of patients maintain a neurological problem. Given this background and data from preclinical models of non-traumatic and traumatic spinal cord injury, there is strong evidence to consider the potential benefit of adding a neuroprotective drug which aids in the treatment of patients with CSM whom are undergoing surgical decompression. Riluzole is FDA-approved for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, which has some similar clinical features to CSM. Riluzole is currently under investigation for traumatic spinal cord injury. Given this background, there is a strong basis to consider studying the potential neurological benefits of Riluzole as a treatment to surgical decompression in patients with CSM.

Patients will be treated in accordance with the standard medical practice of the hospital where they have been recruited during their participation in this study. No additional assessments or tests will be required. SAGIT® is a new instrument developed by a group of acromegaly experts to help practicing endocrinologists to manage acromegalic patients and disease activity in their clinical practice and define acromegaly staging. It reports 5 elements: Signs and symptoms - S; Associated comorbidities - A; Growth hormone (GH) concentration - G; Insulin-like growth factor 1(IGF-1) concentration -I; Tumour size- T. The instrument has been pre evaluated during a qualitative pilot study. The purpose of the validation study is to define and validate the scoring of the SAGIT® instrument.

The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy of cryoablation therapy for the treatment of mild to moderate obesity and test the safety (good and bad effects) of this procedure. The vagus nerve transmits hunger signals from the stomach to the brain, and in response transmits stomach expansion signals from the brain to the stomach. Investigators believe that by interrupting this communication, participants could experience less hunger and in turn lose weight.

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine, use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Celecoxib may stop the growth of pancreatic cancer by stopping blood flow to the tumor and blocking the enzymes necessary for tumor cell growth. Combining gemcitabine with celecoxib may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving gemcitabine together with celecoxib works in treating patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer.

This study uses a randomized controlled trial (RCT) design to evaluate the impacts of the Future Foundation (FF) 2.0 Personal Responsibility Education Innovative Strategies (PREIS) program on reducing students' sexual activity (vaginal), recent risking sexual activity without condom use, and unprotected sex (no condoms/contraceptives). FF will implement the 2.0 PREIS Program with three cohorts of African-American youth in the 6th to 8th grades. FF aims to recruit and enroll 400 students who are new to the program for Cohort 1, 150 new students for Cohort 2, and another 150 new students for Cohort 3. These cohorts of eligible students will come from grades 6-8 in Woodland and McNair middle schools and projected to attend Banneker high school. Random assignment will be an ongoing process throughout the project enrollment periods. By the end of the recruitment processes, a total of 700 students will be randomly assigned to either the treatment or the control group, resulting in 350 students in each condition. Each year, the FF 2.0 PREIS intervention model will offer year-round grant-funded services, including after-school, summer programming, and parent engagement activities. The 350 youth randomly assigned to the treatment group will be offered the FF 2.0 PREIS program (Cohort 1 will target 200 treatment youth from January 2018 through June 2018; Cohort 2 will target 75 treatment youth from August 2018 through May 2019; and Cohort 3 will serve 75 treatment youth from August 2019 through May 2020.), while the 350 students assigned to the control group may receive after school and/or summer programming from another community-based organization. The primary hypotheses for the RCT study are the following: significantly fewer numbers of students in the FF 2.0 PREIS intervention engage in vaginal sex than their control group peers do by the time of the end of the program and also at the six-month follow-up; significantly fewer numbers of students in the FF 2.0 PREIS intervention engage in recent unprotected sex significantly than the control group students do at the end of the program and also at the six-month follow-up; and significantly greater numbers of participants in the FF 2.0 PREIS intervention remain abstinent or report condom use during recent vaginal sexual activity than the control group students do at the end of the program and also at the six-month follow-up.

Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a major dose-limiting side effect of many chemotherapeutic agents including vincristine, paclitaxel, cisplatin, oxaliplatin, bortezomib and ixabepilone. Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy commonly occurs in greater than 40% of patients. To improve the peripheral neuropathy, the chemotherapy dosing is often either decreased or discontinued potentially affecting tumor responsiveness, prognosis, and survival. There is an unmet medical need for treatment of cancer patients with chemotherapy induced neuropathic pain (CINP) and the proposed study will investigate the efficacy and safety of multiple dose levels of tetrodotoxin (TTX) versus placebo in moderate to severe neuropathic pain caused by chemotherapy.

This open-label, non-randomized, multicenter, Phase 1/2 study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of alectinib in participants with non-small cell lung cancer who have ALK mutation and failed crizotinib treatment. In Part 1, cohorts of participants will receive escalating doses of alectinib orally twice daily. In Part 2, participants will receive the recommended phase 2 dose (RP2D) of alectinib as determined in Part 1. Treatment will continue in Part 1 and Part 2 on the same dose until disease progression. In Part 3, following disease progression, participants without epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation will be offered continued treatment with alectinib, participants with EGFR mutations will be offered a combination of alectinib and erlotinib.

RATIONALE: Bortezomib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Androgens can cause the growth of prostate cancer cells. Drugs, such as goserelin, leuprolide, flutamide, or bicalutamide, may stop the adrenal glands from making androgens. Giving bortezomib with hormone therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving bortezomib with or without hormone therapy works in treating patients with relapsed prostate cancer.

The primary purpose of this trial was is to assess the effect of treatment with deferasirox combined with erythropoietin vs. erythropoietin alone on erythropoiesis in patients with low- and int-1-risk myelodysplastic syndrome. The addition of deferasirox to erythropoietin can lead to a potential synergism with the reduction of reactive oxygen species, through both the NF-kB pathway and the control of free toxic iron. This may create a better environment in the bone marrow for a better response with erythropoietin. This study was designed to test in a prospective way the combination of deferasirox with erythropoietin in terms of their effect on hematopoiesis.
