A headache is a more common disorder and one that prevails over a lifetime of much of the population. Among the causes are in the stress and spasms of the pericranial musculature, presence of painful sensitivity in the region, decrease of pain threshold, and a presence of trigger points (PGs) that can also cause as headaches. The solutions for health and health, in addition to Percutaneous Microelectrolysis (MEP®), which is used in the application of low intensity galvanic current through the acupuncture needle. This is a controlled clinical trial of a convenience-based approach, consisting of universities between the 1st and 10th Physical Therapy course of Estácio Ponta Negra, over 18 years of age, who are not present in the application of the questionnaires, It is necessary to use the medicine of the analgesic type. The volunteers are evaluated through the HIT-6 and SF-36 questionnaires, after a selection of pain evaluation, PGs and algometry. The randomization will consist of 4 groups, after a consultation and an immediate re-evaluation and a second time and a new intervention and re-evaluation. A descriptive and inferential statistics will be performed through the SPSS 20.0 program. The normality of the data is observed by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov (KS) test. For a comparison between groups whose parametric data are applied or anova test with post hoc tukey comingue of significance of 5% (p \<0.05). It is believed that the use of the association of myofascial release techniques and Percutaneous Microelectronics promotes greater benefits in tension headache.

Having co-occurring depression and chronic headaches is challenging and can greatly impact one's professional, personal, family, and social life. People living with chronic headaches are often at a greater risk of having comorbid psychiatric disorders (depression, anxiety), reduced quality of life, and impaired functioning because of under-diagnosis, misdiagnosis or under-treatment of both chronic conditions. This study is a pilot clinical trial that will compare the effectiveness of a brief cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) depression intervention to a care as usual (control) group. The aim of the study is to determine how well the CBT intervention will reduce the frequency, severity and level of disability of both the headaches and depression symptoms.

Epidemiological studies show a one-year prevalence of 30%-60% for episodic tension-type headache (TTH) and 2%-3% for chronic TTH (CTTH). Many TTH patients seek acupuncture treatment worldwide, and CTTH is one of the most commonly treated. FSN has been used to treat CTTH recently; the curative effect of it was especially good for CTTH accompanying pericranial tenderness. Nonetheless, the effectiveness of acupuncture and FSN for CTTH remains controversial. Several research results showed that symptoms of TTH improve after acupuncture treatment, but these improvements were more subjective than objective measures. So, the aim of this study is to determine the cerebral function efficacy of acupuncture and FSN in the treatment of CTTH, using Headache impact test questionnaire (HIT-6), VAS to evaluate the subjective symptom and fMRI to detect the objective cerebral function changes. This study was an observational, open-label, cohort-study conducted in accordance with the principles of the Helsinki Declaration. We prospectively and systematically recorded data from the patients and analyzed them retrospectively. During a first phase, called adaptation period, the injector (DR) used a follow-the-pain approach in order to determine the optimal injection scheme for each individual. The possible injection sites were the corrugator, temporalis, and trapezius muscles. Patients were systematically asked about the usual topography and time course of migraine attacks, and the existence of pain or stiffness of the cervical muscles. If the pain was predominantly located in the frontotemporal area, the corrugator and temporalis muscles were injected bilaterally. When the patients had predominant pain in the back of the head, or when their headache pain frequently started and/or ended in the trapezius muscles, both trapezius muscles were injected. These muscle groups were injected together if pain was both frontotemporal and cervico-occipital. When this first set of injections was efficacious, patients were re-injected in the same manner at the time when the frequency of headache days definitely increased. In the absence of efficacy, the paradigm was modified using the same follow-the-pain approach. Once the best procedure was determined for each patient, it was reproduced at each subsequent injection session. This adaptation phase could necessitate up to three sessions. The observation period started 8 weeks before the first efficacious injection and ended 2 months after the second consecutive efficacious injection, or in case of inefficacy. Throughout the adaptation and the observation phases, patients kept a headache diary where they were asked to note the days with headache and the use of rescue medication.

Chronic Migraine (CM), or 15 or more migraine headaches per month, is common in tertiary headache care and is associated with a number of deleterious outcomes, especially higher disability and poorer quality of life, relative to those with Episodic Migraine (EM) defined as 14 or fewer migraine headaches per month. Limited work has begun to examine factors that increase or decrease the risk of developing CM. One factor that appears especially relevant is symptomatic medication use. The current study builds upon and expands previous work considering the influence non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and/or triptan use has on the likelihood of developing CM. This study is a retrospective observational cohort study of data collected via mail survey and collated in the American Migraine Prevalence and Prevention (AMPP) database. Survey results from the AMPP study will be analyzed retrospectively. The AMPP is a longitudinal, population-based, mailed-questionnaire survey. In 2004, 120,000 United States (US) households were screened and 24,000 individuals who reported severe headaches were identified and additional questionnaires have been administered annually. This analysis uses data from respondents who meet second edition of the International Headache Classification-2 (IHCD-2) criteria for EM in 2005 with follow up results in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009. EM is defined as 1 to 14 headaches per month and CM is defined as 15 or more headaches per month.

Migraine is included in the top-ten disabling diseases and conditions among the Western populations. Non-invasive neurostimulation (t-SMS), including the Cefaly® device, for the treatment of various types of pain is a relatively new field of interest. The aim of the present study was to explore the clinical experience with Cefaly® in a cohort of migraine patients previously refractory or non-tolerant to topiramate prophylaxis. Patients were followed prospectively after having been diagnosed with episodic or chronic migraine with a previous failure to topiramate treatment and having consented to receive preventive treatment with Cefaly® according to their treating physician's suggestion. A 1-month period of baseline observation was followed by a 3-month period of active treatment with transcutaneous supraorbital nerve stimulation (t-SNS) with Cefaly® as the only preventive treatment.

This investigation will gather information about a procedure called sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) stimulation, and its appropriateness, safety, and efficacy as a treatment for those who suffer migraine headaches which may result in chronic severe disability. The SPG is a small collection of nerve cells in the head, and is located near the base of the nose on either side. Participation involves the surgical implantation of an electrode (small electrical conductor) over the sphenopalatine ganglion. The electrode is connected to a stimulator which will enable treatment for migraine headaches. Tiny electrical current is delivered to the stimulator device by an internal pulse generator implanted in the area at the top of the chest, to stop the migraine headaches. The implant system will be controlled with a wireless remote provided after the implant procedure. Participation will record headache diaries throughout the study, which will last approximately 8½ months, and a yearly visit annually for five years.

Cluster headache is an intense and powerful, one-sided headache accompanied by involuntary symptoms such as red eye, droopy eyelids, flow of tears, small pupils and one-sided facial sweating. The headache is believed to be the most intense of all headaches and among many is totally disabling and of great personal and social consequences. For a small group of patients with episodic and most chronic form, drug therapy has little effect. For them, surgery can be a solution. Neuroradiology has found evidence of a possible original activation of cluster headache from the portion of the brain called hypothalamus. Furthermore, an activation of the parasympathetic nervous system through the sphenopalatine ganglion, which may also explain some of the one-sided involuntary symptoms, is suspected in cluster headache. Injection of Botulinum toxin type A (BTA) inhibits secretion of synaptic acetylcholine resulting in nerve signals being blocked. The duration of such a blockade is believed to be 3-9 months. The purpose of the present study is to develop and evaluate a new surgical procedure with injection of BTA for blocking of the sphenopalatine ganglion. The goal is to relieve the symptoms of refractory cluster headache with a minimal invasive procedure. The main objective of the project is to determine the safety of BTA injection in the area of the sphenopalatine ganglion of refractory cluster headache and detect the adverse events. Secondary objectives are to identify the changes of headache attacks by the method used.

The investigators prospectively want to use the Infrascanner in patients with ischemic stroke, patients with brain surgery, patients with brain tumors, patients with intracranial hemorrhage and patients with a normal CT scan of the brain as part of a diagnostic work-up after head trauma or headache to determine to positive and negative predictive value of the Infrascanner in these different settings.

The purpose of this study is: 1) To assess the feasibility of implementing a clinical trial comparing two potentially analgesic dietary interventions in patients with chronic daily headache (CDH) and 2)To assess the preliminary efficacy of the dietary interventions on headache frequency and severity and 3) to assess the impact of the diet on the percentage of omega-6 highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA) in total HUFA in whole blood. During a 6-week baseline phase, eligible individuals with CDH will complete web-based daily diaries, self-report questionnaires, and nutrient intake assessments. Before randomization to one of the two intervention groups, blood will be collected to measure baseline nutritional biomarkers. Targeted dietary advice will be administered and foods will be provided throughout the 12-week intervention phase. Samples for biomarkers will be collected every 4 weeks during the intervention. Participants will continue recording headache characteristics with a daily headache diary. At the conclusion of the intervention, participants will provide complete follow-up assessments and blood for nutritional biomarker measurement.

This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover, two-attack, out-patient, early-intervention evaluation of subjects who have migraine with or without aura and who discontinued use of short acting triptan(s) within the past year due to non-response or intolerance.
